Advantages of Arduino Arduino is a microcontroller on a circuit board which makes it easy to receive inputs and drive outputs. A microcontroller is

a integrated computer on a chip.Some examples of inputs would be a temperature sensor, a motion sensor, a distance sensor, a

switch and so forth. Some examples of outputs would be a light, a screen, a motor and so forth.

Programming Arduino You’ll need to download the Arduino Software package for your

operating system from the Arduino download page

transfer the program from your computer to the board.

After opening the downloaded program select board type (Tools

> Board). The code you write for your Arduino are known as sketches. They

are written in C++. Every sketch needs two void type

functions, setup() and loop(). A void type function doesn’t return any value.

The setup() method is ran once at the just after the Arduino is powered up

and the loop()method is ran continuously afterwards. The setup() is where

you want to do any initialisation steps, and in loop() you want to run the

code you want to run over and over again.

3. Temperature and Humidity Sensor DHT11 The DHT11 is a basic, ultra low-cost digital temperature and humidity sensor. It uses a capacitive humidity sensor and a thermistor to

measure the surrounding air, and spits out a digital signal on the data pin (no analog input pins needed). Its fairly simple to use, but

requires careful timing to grab data. The only real downside of this sensor is you can only get new data from it once every 2 seconds,

so when using our library, sensor readings can be up to 2 seconds old. Compared to the DHT22, this sensor is less precise, less accurate

and works in a smaller range of temperature/humidity, but its smaller and less expensiveComes with a 4.7K or 10K resistor, which

you will want to use as a pullup from the data pin to VCC.

6. DS18B20 Waterproof Digital Temperature Sensor Probe This is a pre-wired and waterproofed version of the DS18B20 sensor. Handy for when you need to measure something far away,

or in wet conditions. While the sensor is good up to 125°C the cable is jacketed in PVC so we suggest keeping it under

100°C. Because they are digital, you don’t get any signal degradation even over long distances! These 1-wire digital temperature

sensors are fairly precise (±0.5°C over much of the range) and can give up to 12 bits of precision from the onboard digital-to-

analog converter. They work great with any microcontroller using a single digital pin, and you can even connect multiple ones to the

3. MQ-3 Alcohol Detector Sensor Module

It has four pins, and is extremely easy to use. What makes this listing so unique is that it has an analog output pin that you can

interface with an analog to digital converter, and a digital output that is supplied from a comparator output. The digital output is

normally high. When you blow into the sensor the output will swing from 5v (1) to 0v (0). You can calibrate this digital output to

swing the on-board variable resistor. You can calibrate the output to swing after you’ve had one beer, two beers, etc. Out the

digital output for easy alcohol detection. Get serious and use an ADC to play with the analog output. Technical Specification:

10. GP2Y1010AU0F Air / dust detection sensor

Optical Dust Sensor (GP2Y1010AU0F) is especially effective in detecting very fine particles

like cigarette smoke, and is commonly used in air purifier systems. An infrared emitting diode

and a phototransistor are diagonally arranged into this device, to allow it to detect the

reflected light of dust in air. The sensor has a very low current consumption (20mA max, 11mA

typical), and can be powered with up to 7VDC. The output of the sensor is an analog voltage

2. Voltage Sensor Module 25V

A simple but very useful module which uses a potential divider to reduce any input voltage by a factor of 5. This allows you to use

The TSL2561 Luminosity Sensor Breakout is a sophisticated light sensor which has a flat response across most of the visible spectrum.

Unlike simpler sensors, the TSL2561 measures both infrared and visible light to better approximate the
