ABB SFC2 2

100kW to 1800kW, High Power, High Performance, Static Frequency Converter

The SFC2 is a state of the art static frequency converter. Utilising ABBs latest modular converter design the SFC2 provides for highly reliable, clean and efficient power conversion.

The system is internally configured as parallel arrangement of modular rectifiers and inverters all controlled by a central master controller. Each draws a clean sinewave current at unity power factor from the utility supply. Each inverter produces a clean sinewave voltage to supply the output load via an output transformer.

The modules utilise the latest high performance Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) power switching devices which are controlled by a micro-controller in each module. A serial communication backplane links each converter back to the master controller. The modular design makes the system very tidy, compact and serviceable. In the unlikely event that a module failed it can be quickly removed and replaced with minimal downtime.

Individual converter modules can be easily removed through simple disconnection of power cables and unplugging control.

Each module has a LED display indicating module number or status should a fault occur.

When a new module is fitted it is identified by the master and automatically reprogrammed and configured to be compatible through the serial communication backplane.
