4. The future & the industry

In the 21st Century, the POOL PRO brand is growing and evolving. From humble beginnings, it has grown to a major force in the pool industry. Every week sees it growing from strength to strength. The company’s 1800 number receives calls from all over Australia wanting to purchase POOL PRO products. Already the Group has a number of stores operat-ing under the POOL PRO banner but operated by private individuals – at no set up cost to them. They know it stands for quality, integrity and the highest level of service. That said, the POOL PRO name is, without doubt, the major force in the Australasian pool product market – without wavering from the founder’s original beliefs. The benefits of a loyal group know no bounds.

5. Key personnel

Thirteen years after the founding, the POOL PRO brand is changing…for the betterment of the whole industry. While the founder and director Kathy Ralph is still very much active in the day to day direction of the business, her son Sean as General Manager oversees the day to day operation and is freely contactable. He is responsible for the crucial decisions in business acquisition, product sourcing and develop-ment. The company’s Operations Manager – Graham Walker, Kathy’s nephew, manages recruitment, operational policies and customer relations; while Jay Ralph, Sean’s younger brother, excels at running the packing and warehousing sections of the business. Unlike many businesses these days, each is available and accountable.

INTRODUCTION1. What we do

The POPS GROUP PTY LTD is a truly Australian owned and operated family run business that is a leading importer and distributor of pool chemicals and accessories in Australia. We cater to the needs of the very small pool shop to the very large and everyone in between. Not only do we stock a huge range of items, and most of them are branded under our own name… POOL PRO “Products the Professionals Use”. We operate from our packing and warehousing facility situated perfectly on the major East Coast freight corridor which allows us to easily and quickly deliver to anywhere in Australia

2. How long have we been

doing it

The POPS GROUPS was established by the director, Kathy Ralph, in 1993. After marketing the ‘Aquachlor’ brand name in the mid eighties, Kathy moved to Queensland Cement Distributors where she expanded the ‘Blueline’ brand name virtually from scratch to become a major player in the indus-try. After seeing a need for greater equality, morality and fair pricing in the pool industry the idea was born. Starting as a buying group to force producers down to their best prices for everyone, the concept took off. Today The POPS GROUP PTY LTD, under the fiercely defended trademark of ‘POOL PRO’, equally serves more than 200 independent pool shops in Aus-tralia and the South Pacific. The Group has been instrumental in lowering buying prices for businesses and became a first by having the nation’s first female owner/director who continues to be active today. Furthermore, its logo of the waterdrop has become one of the most easily identified in the industry – in some people’s eyes the McDonald’s of the pool industry.

sparkle. Dull water is the result of small particles
