About us

Norditec Antriebstechnik was founded in1994 when it started coating timing belts.Over the years, with the help of its dedicat-ed team, Norditec has developed into a lead-ing supplier of special conveyor belts.

On a production area of 3.000 sq.m. 50 em-ployes produce customer-specific conveyorbelts such as cam-belts, coated belts andbelts treated with mechanical CNC-technolo-gy. Our already versatile product range iscontinuously expanding and as a result thisbrochure can only give you a globaloverview of our possibilities. Feel free toask! Coatings

Norditec Antriebstechnik offers an extensiverange of coatings. The various coatings canbe used to achieve the requested conveyingcharacteristics, high or low friction, soft,hard or elastic surfaces. The application of asoft synthetic foam to the belt surface, forexample, can help protect the product,while the application of a heat resistant feltcoating can protect the belt from heat whenhot products need to be transported.

For special conveying tasks the belt can befurther treated, either on the transport sideor on the teeth side. In case of very thickcoatings the flexibility of the entire belt canbe enhanced by slotting, or a v-guide can beapplied on the teeth side of the belt to im-prove tracking.

Application methods

Coatings can be applied to the belts in thefollowing ways:

Which method is chosen depends on the beltand coating material and whether the cus-tomer prefers a butt joint or a seamless joint.

A sandwich coating is possible too. The pic-ture below shows a silicone-sealed greenSylomer coating.

Special Coatings

In addition to the standard coatingsNorditec also offers a range of special coat-ings. This range in particular is constantlyfurther developed in order to fulfill the vari-ous requirements of our customers.

Silicone Coating

Neoprene and PU timing belts can be coatedwith silicone. The silicone can be appliedseamless to the belt up to a thickness of 8mm. The advantages of the silicone coatingare its heat resistance up to 220° C, anti-ad-hesiveness (adhesive- and dirt-repellent), itselasticity and excellent durability. The seam-less silicone has a hardness of around 30°Shore, is transparent and FDA-compliant.Based on its high friction to steel and paperit is well suited for conveying these materi-als.

APLN Coating

An APLN coating offers an alternative to thetraditional Linatex coating.

APLN has a hardness of 60° Shore. It can besupplied as a coating on endless belts or on

open-ended belts that are supplied per me-tre. APLN is weldable; it can be made endlessby means of a finger joint.

Teflon Coating PTFE

A Teflon coating lends itself for applicationswhere a non-stick coating with a low frictioncoefficient is needed. Teflon has very goodslip characteristics.

Seamless PU Spray Coating

This sprayed PU coating is of FDA quality andis wear and abrasion-resistant. The sprayingprovides a high surface quality even withoutgrinding and enables a variable cover thick-ness of 0.2 to 2 mm.

The PU coating is temperature-resistant upto 95° C and has a Shore hardness of 82°.

This permanently elastic coating can notonly be used for timing belts and conveyorbelts, but can also be sprayed on rigid itemslike rollers, e.g. for noise control and wearprotection. The polyurethane can be appliedto polyurethane and neoprene timing beltsas well as conveyor belts.

This coating is supplied in blue or bright grey(preferential colours) as well as black or yel-low.

Felt Coating

For the felt coating a high quality Kevlar feltis applied temperature-proof on to the tim-ing belt. A felt coating is outstandingly suit-able for conveying hot goods.

Application areas include the aluminium in-dustry, glass industry and steel extrusion.The yellow Kevlar felt can resist tempera-tures up to 500°C (temporarily 550°C), thewhite Kevlar felt up to 250°C.

The coating can be applied to open ended orto endless belts. For a higher flexibility thinlateral cuts can be milled into the Kevlar felt.

For coatings in the food industryNorditecsupplies a variety of different coating mate-rials. Depending on materials and dimen-sions coatings can be welded, glued orsprayed on. A seamless surface can beachieved by spraying on the FDA-compliantcoating (PU blue) on the belt. The coatingsspecified in this brochure constitute a selec-tion. The nipple material for example can besupplied in several versions. Please contactus for more information.

The coating of v-belts is an advantage whengoods with fragile surfaces are conveyed.Applications include the wood, ceramics andglass industries.

Coated and where appropriate profiled sur-faces can aid conveying, as they increase thebelt’s friction coefficient.

Guide slots, holes and slits are standard fab-rication options. Additionally we can supplyspecial fabrication options according to yourdemands. Processing of the surface enablesadaptation of the belt to the requirements.The procesing of untreated as well as re-fined timing belts can be carried out in anumber of ways. With the technology avail-able at our facilities there are hardly anyboundaries to what is possible. We can treatbelts according to your requirements. Thefollowing options are at our disposal:

In order to improve the flexibility of thickcoatings crosswise grooves can be milled in.

Piece goods can be more easily positioned ifthe surface has grooves.

The conveying of smooth objects is easier ifthe friction coefficient of the coating is in-creased through treatment.

Perforated belts are mostly used as vacuumbelts.

A dual timing belt has cogs on the inside aswell as the outside of the belt.

The cogged sides do not necessarily have tobe synchronous, but can also have varyingpitches. Norditec offers a variety of dual tim-ing belts.

The original dual timing belt has the samepitch on both sides. If the pitch differs wespeak of Vario-Dual timing belts.

A Multi-Vario-Dual timing belt can have dif-ferent pitches on each side of the belt.

A vacuum timing belt is a coated belt withslots and holes in the back of the belt. Suchbelts are used mostly in the packaging indus-try. It enables fast transportation of lightpiece goods such as paper, as well as verticalremoving of foils.

Norditec Antriebstechnik can apply all coat-ings to these belts. The most varied patternscan be applied to the material by means ofCNC-controlled milling machines.

We have detailed a considerable number oftechnical drawings in our special catalogue.We can, however, also supply according toyour parameters.

Cam belts are used for conveying piecegoods. The cams enable fixation of the prod-uct during transportation. We have a comprehensive cam catalogue,currently detailing over 300 different de-signs. The catalogue is continuously beingfurther completed and extended. It will beour pleasure to send you our free cataloguefor cleat cams without commitment.

Individual demands to conveyor belts re-quire a large variety in cleat cams – you willget your own bespoke solution with us.

We supply according to your requirementsand will produce cams conform your engi-neering drawings.

We construct cams according to your param-eters. Our customer specific cam construc-tions enable the fabrication of belts for themost varied applications.

To save time we can supply cams made in ourown injection die-casting facilities.

On the PU belts the cams are appliedthrough welding. We can also offer a remov-able-cam system (see Removable-CamSystems)

The removable-cam system enables quickreplacement of cams at all times, also whenthe belt is fitted. This will help you reduceinstallation and replacement costs.

The cam material can be chosen at will andalso the pitch between the cams is flexiblekeeping in mind the pitch of the cogs.

Pocket timing belts are characterised by thelong, flat cams that are fixed on the belt.These belts are used, for example, in convey-ing of hygiene products such as babies’ nap-pies and sanitary towels.

The pocket timing belt is one of our topproducts. The pockets can be fixed on thebelt starting from a pitch of 2mm.

The pockets are manufactured on site out ofglassfibre-reinforced material, which en-ables the supply of a multitude of differentshapes.

Wide PU timing belts

Wide timing belts, with widths up to 500mm, are currently only available in the mar-ket fitted with Kevlar cords. Norditec canproduce wide timing belts with kevlar orsteel cords.

Narrow belts can be joined to one widetiming belt by a teeth-synchronous joint.

In a different process narrow belts arejoined by welding an HV-foil into the sur-face. With this process we have reachedwidths up to 1,000 mm.

The latest conveyor belt of Norditec is perma-nently magnetic.

It enables fixed positioning of magneticparts on the back of the belt, which can bemagnetised according to your specifications.

We apply the magnets to the surface of thebelt according to customer specifications,with strength, polarisation and geometryadaptable according to your requirements.

Form-fit rapid-exchange system for various types of cams

Surfaces can be supplied with a variety ofcoatings depending on your requirements,to provide the desired friction coefficient.

The attractive force of the belt is variable de-pending on belt geometry and directionchange. By using an antipolar constructionalternating attraction and repulsion can beachieved.

In addition to the classic transportation ofmetal parts the belt can also be used for con-veying paper and foils, in which the trans-ported goods are clamped in between twotightening belts or between a low-frictionsurface and the magnetic belt.

The latest addition to our technology is thecutting process by means of a water-jet.Water-jet cutting enables the milling ofholes and outlines in timing belts, coatings,conveyor belts and other materials.

The cuts are neat and precise, even in foamplastics.

So far timing belts have always been pas-sive. With the patented timing belt roboticsthis is going to change. By energy and sig-nal transmission within the timing belt itbecomes active. Our construction kit fortiming belt robotics is available to the au-tomisation industry.

As an example, cams can be made to moveby bringing energy into the timing belt.Now small grippers could be fitted.

In many cases installation of an endless tim-ing belt is impossible due to constructionallimitations. The belt then has to be fittedinto the machine first, before being madeendless.

New in our product range is a pin fastenerfor quick and easy fitting and unfastening oftiming belts.

Further detachable fasteners can be sup-plied upon request.

Equipment

Portable cutting maschines and weldingpressesWe supply portable finger-cutting-ma-schines and welding presses for timing belts.In this way we enable our customers to weldtheir timing belts by themselves, quickly andflexibly on site. Besides, the portability ofthe equipment enables welding of the beltin the machine.

The hand operated hydraulic cutting ma-schine with exchangeable toothed profileplates punches fingers in the belt.

The finger joint increases the power trans-mission compared with a straight joint.

The timing belt is welded with a finger jointby means of the mobile press. The press isavailable as a heat press or a heat press withcooling.

Water-jet Cutting

Our latest investment is a water-jet cuttingmaschine which we purchased mainly forrubber and plastic cutting in 2-D operationsin our own production. We do, however,also offer water-jet cutting services.

The abrasive-jet process enables the han-dling of the most diverse materials. Evenmetals and plastic foams can be neatly cut.

On the work surface of 1.2 m x 1.2 m cut-ting depths of up to 150 mm can beachieved depending on the material.

Polyurethane Spraying

We offer sprayed PU panels. The sprayedproduct has a hardness of 50° Shore. Thestandard panel measures 500 x 5,000 mmand can be supplied in thicknesses 2, 3, 4, 5,6, 8 and 10 mm. Further non-standard pan-el thicknesses can be supplied on request.Please contact us for a copy of our pricelist.

Antistatic measurment

In many industrial sectors electrostaticcharging of timing belts is undesirable(conveying of electronic components or inareas with danger of explosion). Antistaticcharacteristics of the belts are achieved byapplication of an electrical conductive coat-ing on the belt surface. For this purpose thebelts must be coated with a polyamide fab-ric (NFT/NFB or PAZ/PAR). A further possibil-ity for reduction of surface resistance iscoating with a special rubber that can reachvalues below 106 Ohm. According to DIN22104 “Antistatic Conveyor Belts” the sur-face resistance must remain below 3 x 108

Ohm.

On request and at costs we will carry out aprotocolised measuring.

As the conductiveness of the coating can di-minish with age regular measurment is ad-visable. Measurment is carried out accord-ing to DIN EN 61 340-2-3 and DIN EN 340-4-1. A digital high-ohm meter is used for thispurpose.
