Test Security Agreement is provided by the district or may be downloaded from the EED website http://www.eed.state.ak.us/forms/home.cfm

Once you sign the agreement, you are responsible for all test security in your classroom
You are acknowledging that you will follow all guidance, regulation, and instructions associated to the HSGQE Retest
3. Return the signed copy as directed by your district
Test Administration Directions The Test Administration
Directions (TAD) will assist with all testing procedures
If you did not receive a copy, download one from EED’s website http://www.eed.state.ak.us/tls/assessment/hsgqe.html
It is important to read it carefully prior to testing
The TAD combines the associate test coordinator’s tasks along with the proctor’s

Carefully read the Test Administration Directions in advance Prepare students:
1. Announce testing dates with start timesThree subtests administered in this order October 4 – Reading October 5 – Writing October 6 – Mathematics All testing must begin between 8:00am and10:00on the designated dates Students are not permitted to leave within the first two hours of testing No students are permitted to start after the first two hours of testing
2. Explain the purpose of the test
3. Confirm which subtests are to be taken for each student
4. Outline cell phone and other technology limitations/consequences

Provided by DRC:
Prepare the classroom:1. Remove any displayed instructional material2. Check and locate all necessary testing materials3. Familiarize yourself with the Classroom Daily Check In-
Check Out Worksheet (or the like) in the TAD4. Ensure the testing environment is free of disruption

Obtain a list of students needing accommodations Materials for students receiving accommodations might include:
1. Large Print 2. Braille3. Audio CD4. Sign Language DVD
These materials can also be requested through the DTC Braille and Large Print accommodated materials require
transcription of responses into a Form I Standard Test Book (procedures for transcription are in the Test Administration Directions)
IMPORTANT: Reading Audio CD consists of 2 volumes (2 separate discs). Ensure both discs are provided to students during testing.

Clarify rules prohibiting electronic devices with all students
Three subtests administered in this order
1. October 4 – reading2. October 5 – writing3. October 6 – mathematics
Distribute, collect, and inventory testing materials using the Check In-Check Out Worksheet (or the like)
Students are not permitted to work on previous or subsequent day’s test

All test books must have either a precode label or a district/school label
Test books returned without a label will be considered unused and WILL NOT BE SCORED

The precode label saves proctors time and eliminates error in student identification
If a precode label is used, the bubbles on the front cover of the test remain blank In cases where students
fill in bubbles – the label overrides any marks (no need to erase the bubbles)

Note the label includes the HSGQE subtests to be taken It is a quick reference for
proctors to use If only the subtests are
inaccurate, the label may still be used– it will not impact any data collection

District/school labels are used in place of a precode label It will assign the student to the
correct district and school for reporting test scores
When a precode label contains incorrect student-identifying information, replace it with the district/school label
When a district/school label is applied, all bubbles on the test book front cover must be completed

Proctors must follow the instructions exactly to ensure similar testing conditions in all classrooms
All text preceded by the “say” bubble must be read exactly as written
If a student asks for help, say, “I cannot help you with that. Please do the best you can.”
Consistently monitor student progress while testing: Cheating Random marking of answers Guessing Correct subtest (reading, writing, mathematics) Proper bubbling

When a student turns in the test book, note the time on the Worksheet, and ask, “Have you checked to make sure you have answered all the questions?”
Do not flip through the test book to check for completion After testing is complete, inventory student test books
and ensure the following:1. All test books are counted and the Check In-Check Out
Worksheet is accurate2. Reference sheets are removed3. Each test book to be scored has a label4. “Teacher use only” field is complete where applicable
(consult DTC before invalidating)5. Braille and Large Print accommodated tests have been
transcribed (under no circumstances can keyboarded responses be sent as a separate piece of paper or attached to the test book)
6. Document any testing irregularity (e.g., fire alarm, student sick)

Do Not use a “Do Not Score” label if there is a bubble marked in the “Teacher Use Only” field on the
front cover
All test books must be secure and tracked
Use “Do Not Score” labels under the following circumstances:1. A label is not positioned correctly
on the test book (redo with another test book and district/school label)
2. A precode label was placed on the test book but the student did not show up for testing.
3. An inappropriate label was placed on the test book (may need to transcribe student answers)
4. Test should not be scored

Do not store tests in the classroom Secure materials must be tracked, inventoried,
