Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven Hymn No. 76

DECLARATION OF FAITH*

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

CORPORATE CONFESSION OF S IN

Congregation reads in unison. Almighty God, we acknowledge and confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed; we have not loved you with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength; we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves. Deepen within us our sorrow for the wrong we have done, and the good we have left undone. Lord, you are full of compassion and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy; there is always forgiveness with you! Restore to us the joy of your salvation; bind up that which is broken, give light to our minds, strength to our wills, and rest to our souls. Speak to each of us, and let your word abide with us until it has wrought in us your holy will.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Hebrews 6:19-20

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

SCRIPTURE READING

Philippians 2:5-8, Ephesians 5:25

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

INVITATION TO THE LORD’S SUPPER

We welcome you to our Communion service this evening and invite to the table all those who believe in Jesus Christ and are members in good standing in a Bible-believing church.

It is our custom to hold the elements and commune together.

*If you have not yet embraced Jesus Christ by faith, we invite you to reflect on one of the following prayers.

Prayer for those searching for Truth:

Lord Jesus, you claim you are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Please guide me by your Holy Spirit and open my heart and mind to receive the life you promise. Give me grace to repent of my sin and trust in your perfect sacri-

fice on my behalf. Teach me what it means to faithfully follow you as Lord. Amen.

Prayer of Faith:

Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that I am sinful. I have sinned by thought, word, and deed. But through your sacrifice I am loved and accepted by my heavenly Father. Thank you for paying my debt on the cross and for taking the

punishment I deserve. I turn from my sins and trust in you as my living Savior and Lord. Amen.

Do Not Be Conformed

All women (high school age and up) are invited to the Fall Kick-off which will take place in the Lower Level on Friday, September 9 at 7:00 pm. Save the Date for the PPC Missions Conference – October 14th-16th

Are you looking for a way to get involved in the missions program at Proclama-tion? Would you like to get to know the missionaries better? Missionaries are often away from Christians and seldom have the opportunity to simply gather with Christians as friends for encouragement. The Missions Committee is looking for volunteers to assist the weekend of the Missions Conference in the following areas:

-To gather some friends together to host a missionary for a meal Friday night, 10/14 -Assist setting up the missionary display tables Friday -Create decoration and set up for the Saturday meal -Assist with the Saturday evening catered meal -Clean up after the Saturday evening meal

Please respond to Pam Hallman at [email protected] if you are interested in help-ing in one of these areas.

Transformed—Women’s Regional Conference—September 30-October 1

All women (high school age and up) are encouraged to join us as we seek to be Trans-

formed through studying Romans 11:33-12:2 together. Registration deadline is Septem-

ber 16. High school girls in our Youth Group can go for free. Please contact Annette Hunsaker for information.

Women in the Word: A Workshop– October 28-29

Women in the Word: A Workshop serves the church by helping women study Scripture in a way that is informed, reasoned, and reverent — strengthening both those who teach and those who study on their own. In large group sessions and interactive study groups, this annual two-day event focuses on women helping women interpret, apply, and pre-sent the Bible to others.

This year’s topic is “Change the Lens, Change the View: How Concentric Contexts Help Us Understand and Apply Scripture”. It will be held at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Willow Grove. To register, go to www.wrfnet.org/womenintheword. Workshop bro-chures are on the narthex table.

Children’s Church in recess until September 4th

We will not be offering Children’s Church for the 4-7 year olds starting August 14th through September 4th. Our purpose is two-fold: (1) to give the ministry team four weeks off for revitalization and (2) to prepare our 4-7 year olds for the blessings and components of corporate worship. We will still offer child care for infants (Nursery, Room 151) and 2 & 3 year olds (Toddlers, Room #149) during the 11:00am worship ser-vice. If you have any questions, please see Dave Moneymaker.

Delaware County Pregnancy Center is having its annual Walk For Life on Saturday, Sep-tember 24th at Ridley Creek State Park. Our goal is to raise $30,000. We are forming a team from Proclamation called the Proclamation Lifesteppers, with the goal of raising 10% of that amount. Are you able to get sponsors and walk with us? Wednesday nights, starting this fall

Big changes are coming to Wednesday nights this fall! To minister to PPC families and help them participate in church activities on a central night, a number of adjustments have been made to the church’s activities schedule.

A new catered dinner will be offered for everyone at the church starting September 21st and concluding May 17th. Families can count on a quality and inexpensive hot meal that parents don’t have to prepare! Dinner will be $5 per person, $20 max for families. We hope you’ll plan to join the fel-lowship over food between 5:30-7 p.m. in the fall!

Girls of Grace will return to Wednesday night, and children’s music ac-

tivities will also move to Wednesday night before Boys of the Bible, Girls of Grace, and Youth Group—so that families can come and participate on just one night of the week. Childcare will be provided the entire evening, and all activities will dismiss at 8:30 so that parents can even attend Adult Choir while their kids are in children/youth activities.

Since 1997, Festivaletteratura is one of the most awaited Italian cultural events of the year. It is a five-day meeting with authors, readings, guided tours, shows and concerts. What a wonderful opportunity for a small church in town. Andrea and his team are preparing to spend twelve days sharing the gospel to their town and those visiting for the Literature Festival. From September 1st-12th, Coram Deo Publishing will have a stand at the national event where they’ve had over 100,000 visitors in past years. They are planning to sell Christian books and Bibles. They have asked Operation Mobilization for 10 men to be available to speak to people about Jesus and pray for them and for the town. Pray for the details to come together for this large undertaking for the small church. Pray that God will provide the budget of $8,000 for this event.

You are also welcome to contact Pam in the church office by phone or e-mail and she will convey your message to the staff and elders.
