in both Matthew 20:28 andPhilippians 2:1-11 that Jesus’ministry was one of love-motivated service. He came notto be served, but to serve. We atFaith Radio have this same aim –to serve others motivated by alove for them and a love for Christ.
But those passages tell us ofanother glorious truth of Christ’sministry; one that has particularapplication to us during thisChristmas season. As we cele-brate the Advent of our Savior,we are reminded that not only did
He came to save. He came, inlove, to give His life as a ransomfor many. When you partner withus, you help us serve others bydelivering the life-saving messageof the Gospel around the world.
Together, let us proclaim thetruth that Jesus came to serveand to save.

We enjoy highlighting ministries in the community that are liftinghigh the name of Jesus. We have seen many, including Flatline Ministries, using gospelrap songs to bring many young people to Christ. Here, Billy Irvin takes a moment toencourage Flatline, and JT shares his heart of following Christ with Bob Crittenden.
(below) Hearing and sharing the heart of ourmusical artists is important to our ministry, andwe enjoyed hearing from Natasha Owens onthe eve of the release of her “No One But You”project. Kelly Treadwell (far left), Russell Dean(left of center), Billy Irvin (right of center), andJeremy Smith (far right) heard Natasha (center)share how Jesus Christ carries us through thestorms in life.

One waythat weas believers effectively proclaim
the significance of Jesus' coming to earthis through service. The way that pastorsand church leaders serve their churchesand communities was the central focus ofFaith Radio's observance of Pastor andStaff Appreciation Month in October.
An example of a local church ministering to a vital component of thecommunity is seen through HeritageBaptist Church in Prattville, which hasdeveloped a strong connection to militaryfamilies in the region.
Pastor Roger Parks explains that thechurch’s ministry to the military camefrom a meeting at a Promise Keepersevent in Colorado. Pastor Parks was seated next to an Air Force chaplain anddiscussed how to minister more effectivelyto military families.
Since that meeting, Heritage has beenintentional about plugging in militarymembers. As a result, it conducts anannual Military Appreciation Sunday, including a luncheon, to honor its militaryfamilies. Pastor Parks said, "We try to getthem in the church, give them a job to do... a way to serve the Lord. And,
we've had them in leadership positions, even many that have been here for a verybrief time."
The church is intentional in helpingmilitary families who are facing difficulties and provides resources, includ-ing counseling, in order to help meet challenges brought about by deployments.
The church's Youth Minister,Donald Payne, shared how studentsfrom military families are assimilatedthrough identifying and using their giftsand talents. This has helped removeimpediments to growth in relationships.
Heritage is also involved in supporting military-oriented ministries, including missionaries working with themilitary in Germany.
Another example of churchespartnering together to minister tomen in its community is witnessedin Covington County. There, wehave seen a tremendous Kingdombuilding ministry. A coalition hasbeen formed by area churchesnamed “Iron Works.” Modeling thepowerful verse of Proverbs 27:17,“As iron sharpens iron, so one per-son sharpens another,” the men inchurches around Andalusia, Opp,Florala and other area communitiesgather each third Thursday night ofthe month.
The group utilizes a neutral location among the churches. RedOak Baptist Pastor Mark Perry toldus, “We found an abandoned community landmark, an old schoolhouse, and did some very basicwork to utilize the building to havea gathering place for men.” Over400 men have gathered together toenjoy a steak dinner!
The event is free and a tremen-dous evangelistic tool. Pastor Perryadded, “We discovered that it’s afabulous offer, difficult for a man toturn down. We have had over 75men give their life to Christ duringour first 11 months of ministry.”
Walt Merrell, who serves as the Covington County DistrictAttorney also told us, “We keepthe format simple, very consciousof a man’s time, but we also bring in a great speaker to sharethe gospel.”
Among the speakers for Iron Works has been AdamCrabb, John Ed Mathison, PhilWaldrep, Sammy Gilbreath, andSteve Farrar.

will be even better!10 “...the Son of Man came to serve...” Matthew 20:28 Faith Radio’s Ministry Magazine - Nov-Dec 2015
My thoughts begin with the Bible verse John 21:25 (TheMessage), “There are so many
other things Jesus did. If they were all writtendown, each of them, one by one, I can’t imagine aworld big enough to hold such a library of books.”
While I would not declare our yearat Faith Radio that busy, I will confess itwas full. We begin our recap with anexciting December.
The Montgomery Family Christmasis always spectacular. Stephen CurtisChapman did an excellent job of ringing in the Christmas season. The ministries of the Montgomery BaptistAssociation Toy Sale, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes breakfast, and Faith Radio’s role of providingChristmas crosses made Christmas2014 memorable.
In January, we enjoyed a Saturdaywith Upward Basketball at FrazerMemorial UMC. Faith Radio personali-ties Bob Crittenden and Billy Irvin joinedme in sharing the Gospel to the fansgathered for the games. In addition toUpward Basketball, Radio 4 Red Crossand the First Baptist of Opelika’s PhilWickham concert allowed us to greetnew and old friends of the ministry.
Faith Radio’s southernmost listeningarea promoted two significant ministryevents. The first event was hosted byCovenant United Methodist Church inDothan where the Fresh GroundedFaith Women’s Conference with JenniferRothschild was presented. Also, Dr.Jimmy DeYoung of Prophecy Today was aguest of First Baptist Andalusia.
by Russell Dean, General Manager
Dr. DeYoung hosted his ProphecyToday Bible Prophecy Conference.
In 2015, we were blessed with two Family Faith Nights with theMontgomery Biscuits. The special guestfor the May event was LoveCollide, whileJohn Waller was the guest vocalist in June.
This year, Faith Radio was presentat two Gridiron events. The first was the Gridiron Men’s Conference inBirmingham. Dr. David Jeremiah(Turning Point) and Charles Billingsley
were part of a great line up of speakers. The second was the Gridiron Kickoffannual event at Landmark Church inMontgomery. At Landmark, ESPN’sRece Davis shared his story to a packed crowd.
In August, Faith Radio was back inBirmingham to experience the movementof God at the Festival of Hope. The festival was an amazing 3-day event at theUAB arena led by Franklin Graham.
God’s people continue to over-whelm us. The Faith Radio GolfTournament was a perfect day in every
way. While the day before was cloudyand rainy, our day was gorgeous! We hadthe opportunity to greet old friends ofFaith Radio and meet new ones. Thegolf tournament is a significantfundraising event for Faith Radio andwe trust that everyone present enjoyed agreat golf experience.
Judgment House is now an antici-pated ministry event. We are so thankfulfor the way the body of Christ comes together for this occasion. Faith Radio ishonored to be a vital part of this event. We consider it a joy to see so many indi-viduals publicly proclaim Jesus as theirSavior and Lord!

As we prepare our hearts for thisChristmas season, we reflect onthe gift Whom God sent for us –
His Son, Jesus – Who desires for us to bemore charitable in our approach to oth-ers. On The Meeting House program, Iidentify and spotlight people, churches, and ministries who love others with thelove of Christ. Recently, I had the chanceto feature on the air the stories that arehighlighted in our center spread article.
Recently, I aired a conversation withRaleigh-Durham pastor J.D. Greear, who has written a book called Gaining
by Losing. This bookchallenges churches tosend people into themission field.
I also interviewedthe pastor of theChurch at Pike Road,Steve Walters, as heprepared to go tothe massive mis-sions gathering (the
SEND Conference) in Nashville.Local churches are partnering
together to support a variety of ministries, including those that reach out to women facing unplanned preg-nancies. This year, I am the emcee forthe banquet for Sav-a-Life ofMontgomery. Kim Hendrix, host ofFaith Radio’s weekend program (Shine),spoke at the Sav-a-Life of CovingtonCounty banquet.
We featured Kimberly Smith, whoseAlabama-based ministry, Make WayPartners, reaches out to children in thetroubled areas of the Sudan and SouthSudan. Alabama evangelist Terry Veazeyreported from a recent outreach inMalawi that touched thousands of stu-dents. I talked with Susie Jennings, whose ministry to the homeless inDallas continues to grow with anincreased international flavor.
Faith Radio has partnered withevents where God's people cometogether to touch their communities, including Christmas-related outreaches, such as the Montgomery BaptistAssociation Toy Sale, A MontgomeryFamily Christmas, and OperationChristmas Child.
We are servants of God and loversof Christ and we have the potential tomake a significant difference in thecommunities to which God has called us.

Listen for these and moregreat Christmas albums...
One of my favorite Christmastraditions is the singing ofChristmas carols. These carols
particularly come alive when we knowthe stories behind them. While manyhave very definite and discernible origins, some do not, and their originsremain a mystery. One such carol, is“Angels We Have Heard on High.” OfFrench origin, “Les anges dans nos campagnes,” has always been printed withno known lyricist or composer. Thiswell-known carol tells the wondrousstory of Christ's birth and the angel thatproclaimed the good news to nearbyshepherds (Luke 2:8-14).
Tradition holds that, on ChristmasEve, shepherds in France would call toone another from the hillsides with
"Gloria in Excelsis Deo,” using the tunefrom a Medieval Latin chorale. Thisbecame the chorus of "Angels We HaveHeard on High."
Whatever the tune’s actual origin, itwas known in England by 1816, whenJames Montgomery used it for his lyrics“Angels From the Realms of Glory.”The tune for “Angels From the Realmsof Glory” was changed in 1967 byHenry Tomas Smart.
The carol “Angels We Have Heardon High” was first published in Francein 1855. In 1862, an English translationappeared in Henri Frederick's Crown ofJesus Music, although it differed slightlyfrom its present form. The familiar versionwe sing today was first printed in a 1916American carol collection entitled CarolsOld and Carols New.
As you gather to sing carols thisChristmas, remember the rich heritage offaith that you have and the generationsof believers before you that have celebrated our Savior’s birth with these glorious anthems.

A memorial gift is a meaningful way to honor someone at the time of death by recognizing that person’sChristian faith and testimony. Similarly, an honorarium is a tangible way of honoring a living person’s testimony. We are thankful for individuals listed below who choose to honor friends and loved ones througha gift that extends the message of Christ through Faith Radio’s ministry.
