We had to create a sledge with a second function. As the sledge is used only in winter, how can you used it during the rest of the year? This project was a group project. The five first steps was individual re-searches based on the group ideas and then we made models together.

I did first a lot of researches about all kind of sledges. I wrote/drew all the ideas i had, even if it was not interesting, too crazy, useless. I always like this first step of researches be-cause it’s only about open your mind and draw all kind of stuffs.

1

0 7

I had to developped two of my ideas which was chosen. I selec-ted also two other ideas i was still interested to work on. At this stage i already felt the need to vi-sualise in 3d so i did few models.

2

08

I worked on the three commun selected ideas. I developped them, about ergonomy, use, meca-nism. we had to make some first models. I liked a lot working on models, it help me to vizualise in 3D and already see it as an object. I can understand much more the problems, and solve them in 3D than with drawings.

1 1

Two ideas was selected: the swing and the babbycarrier. the next step was to improve their meca-nism systems, think more about the ergonomy, use and design. For the babycarrier I tried to make the size of the object as small as possible to reduce the weight and make it less impressive. I worked the shapes according to the back of the daddy which is wearing it, it has to be comfortable for him. For the swing I tried to find a mecanism as simple as possible for the rotation of the sliding parts.

4

1 2

The fifth step is the 1:1 model in cardboard. I focused much more on the mecanism we could use for the rotation of the seat. I improved also the ergonomy, the size, and how useful the mecanism has to be.

5

1 3

We began then a groupd research on the same model for few weeks. It was a very interesting stage because we mixed our point of view and ideas, which was en-riching for all of us. It makes also a better product for sure when we gather different ideas.

For this sledge an important point was the safety as it is used for child between 1 and 3 years old.

We focused on the use for the dad-dy, how he takes it, how he wears it, and the comfort of the baby with the textile part. I liked to work o the details about the use.

6

1 4

It was a very interesting project. It was long but nice because then we had time to focus and improve a lot the ideas. I liked to do it, but I also noticed that this kind of process is not the one I enjoy the most. The question for who, how, why and what are pragma-tics and very important questions. It is what makes a a product be a good product. But it is not my part of the process I enjoy to do the most, but if I find plea-sure to do it if we ask it anyway.

P A P E R B I R D S

The first lesson we had to make birds out of paper and card-board. I was in the group «make a serie». I took this argument for my process. Every bird has the same base: a A4 paper fold in the same way. From this base I cutted, add, fold, glue, etc. I liked this process of series, and the feedback was that this process was also appreciated by the teachers.

1 7

B A L Z A P L A N E

David explain us the process for the construction of a balza plane. After we made it, we flew them. It was a good introduction to the models and wood work, because it requires concentration and pre-cision. The balza was also a use-ful way to discover how work the wood, how you glue it, how you cut it, how you bend it, etc.

1 8

A HAMMER The first step of our hammer pro-ject was to made a hammer out of natural material. The question was then: out to connect them? I connected the two elements with strong tape and rubber. My hammer worked well but the tape gonna be cutted by the nail after a while. So this mate-rial was not the good solution.

The second step was to fo-cus more on the design. We had to create a hammer out of foam to work on the shape, the aesthetic and the ergonomy. My plans was to use very simple shapes. The design was good, but the curve of the handle should have been in the other direction.

It was a good exercice to work on ergonomy, but i admit that I didn’t enjoyed so much focus on the er-gonomic shapes. But then I under-stood that the point was: how to work with simple shapes and in the same time have a good ergonomy?

1 9

A CUTLERY S E T

We had to create a cutlery set. The focus was on the «fa-mily» idea, which aspect link the three different object. I made very simple shapes. It’s a set of flat cutlery with the same curves for the top part. So then it can be piled together.

I made the fork of the set out of tin.

W O O D S P O O N

The first step was to came out with three ideas which would improve the classic wooden spoon in adding a «feather» to it.

The wet wood is not a pleasant texture when we taste the food we are cooking. So I add to the spoon a small plastic part for the mouth, where there is also a volume to help more the liquide to slide in the mouth.

The comfort of mixing is also an interes-ting point. Our arm is exhausted quickly. How by changing the handle it can be more comfortable? I add foam around the handle. It would be a kind of foam which expand when you don’t handle the spoon anymore. It’s in the same time about comfort and pres-sure of the muscles.

My last idea was a more aesthetic idea to tidy up spoon in the kithen. It’s a support in which the spoon can be imbricated.

1

2 1

The final product is a serie of woo-den spoon on which I made one side of the content part thinner, to make it more ergonomic for the mouth. I also covered a part of it with plastic (silicone would be the best material) to have a better texture when you taste your soup.

I enjoyed this assignment by its simplicity. I enjoyed also to make a simple and beautiful ob-ject, just by focusing on details.

We had to do a self-analy-sis of ourself as deisgners. The beginning of this assignment was quite difficult to get what was expected. I felt bad because at the beginning, everybody was doing 3D experimentations, with colors and drawings. But for a self-analysis I thought more about text, lines, compositions. But after the second time we saw her I began to unders-tand more what it was about.

After few writting and drawings, I came to the fact that my «process» of creation first came out of my surrounding. I get it with my eyes, and then it comes to my mind where I stock informations, connect them, analyse them. Then I use my hands to express these thoughts.

After two 2D versions of my analy-sis, I did an installation represen-ting this process fact. I use ink to

3

symbolize the surrounding and I dipped absorbing paper in it (sym-bolizing the eyes and mind).

2 5

This stage explain the conse-quence of the process of the eyes and the mind: the hands. I shaped clay with my own hands, suspend it and full it with ink, symbo-lizing that the handmade ob-ject is made by the thought.

The final step is an alarm clock. The ink in the organic shape fall from it by a very small hole, by dropping. It falls in a glass contant, placed on a balance. In the other side of the balance there are weights. The user, depends on the amount of time he wants, choose weights to put on the balance. Drop by drop, the glass contai-ner gonna be heavier than the weighst, and then it will fall down on the bell.

It’s an alarm clock without any precise mesurement of time. It’s only according to the size of the weights you put on it that you will have a long or short du-ration, to have a long or short moment of mediation.

I liked to work on this project. I felt free and having the pos-sibility of doing something more or less conceptual.

With Ton we did a lot of dif-ferent exercices. It was about experiencing yourself, and yourself within a group.

The Ton’s lessons took place in the Witte Dame room, a huge empty space behind our class room. To be over there helped a lot to focus on ourselves and focus in our group, because it’s a kind of «in-between» space and moment, where you’re alone with your group, meditating. It helped a lot to feel more free.

The exercices was about you and your surrounding. We learn to feel things differently, go back to your-self to have a break. He explains us how to breath, how to touch people, how to walk, how to talk. It’s mix between mediation, «self-well-being» and drama lesson. stay curious of the experience.

Experience all these exercices with the other students from the class was a very good thing, because then it makes us being a real group. We learn about each other a lot, we learned to be closer, to hear and speak to the others.

Many exercices remembers me of the dance lessons I followed few years ago, where you learn to be present on the scene, to connect your body between earth and sky, to move in an organising space. It was then very interes-ting to do again these exercices but with my actual point of view.

In parallel of the exercices or the mediation, Ton read few texts and spoke about how deal with yourself in your life. I learned a lot about this. It makes me think about different things, and help me to understand them. These thoughts make you begin a kind of self-reflection, self-analysis of yourself. It hurts a lot to do it, and go very deep into you, but then when everything become more clear, you feel much lighter. And I think to know well yourself is an important thing as a designer.

We had to write our fee-lings and ex-periences in a diary, with some drawings and reflexion about it.

ACCEPT WHO YOU ARE AND HOW YOU ARE.STOP TO CONTROL YOURSELF.

I’m very happy that I expe-rienced these lessons.

2 8

F I R S T P E R F O R -M A N C E

A part of Ton’s lessons are also the performances. In group we had to perform in front of an audience.

With my group, we wanted to experience with the audience especially. In our performance, the public was in the center of the space, in a very small space, condensed together. We worked about the uncomfort, and about our own private space. We played with the space divided by ropes in making it smaller, biger, narrow or wide. As performers we did a lot of contrast between the mo-ment where we was far away from them or extremly close to them.

It was a very interesting work to do in group, to see the different expectations of a performance from everybody but also to ga-ther our different points of view. We also learn each other much more, which is a very good thing.

HOW UNCOMFORTABLE DO YOU FEEL IF I IN-TRODUCE YOUR PRI-VATE SPACE ?

2 9

S E C O N D P E R F O R -M A N C EFor the second performance the assignment is kind of the same but the process was different. This time we have much more time to pre-pare, and instead of keeping it a bit «secret» to the teachers and the other groups, we exchange a lot of ideas. I found it a bit sad. Because then the group is listening much more at the teacher’s expectation instead of their own ideas. And for a performance it is not an interes-ting point, if you do what the tea-cher said, and the teacher already knows what you gonna do. So it ‘s still a very interesting experience, because we have more time to pre-pare and let grow the concept, but the «magical» aspect is a bit gone.

Our group is gathering «strong minds». So we wanted to work about the individuality within a group. It made us think about our social status. And to express it, we decided to work with hair. After many researches, we foudn out that it is a very interesting to-pic. So the starting point is hair as social status. During the per-formance, we gonna be wearing our «party» suits, and playing dif-

ferent actions with hairs. Many actions will take place around it, but most of them will be im-provisation during the acting.

During the performance I will make a pulp out of hairs. So before it, I already did many experimentation with hair, by mixing them with dif-ferent glues, latex, vernish, etc.

A C H T E RH U I S

Achterhuis was our project of ar-chitecture. We had to create a row house for three persons in a volume of 6,6x6x10m and 6,6x4x10m. The house has to be sustainable.I choosed to make this house for three independants persons, which are between 35 and 50 years old. It is three employed person who want to share a house and a com-mun space and in the same time have a small private space. The commun spaces are shared for the gardening and the cooking. By this way, the kitchen and the garden should be the «heart» of the house.

I first did some researches about the general composition of the house. Where are the private spaces, where are the commun spaces, and what are their size.

3 2

3 3

I tried to arrange the house in a sustainable way, with solar pa-nels, garden, recycled water, etc...

3 4

3 5

Architecture is something i like since I’m a child. It was a lesson I was very curious to experience and happy to follow. It interested me a lot and I enjoyed to work on it. I like the concentration it re-quires and the moment I spent on it. I also could work more on my precision in drawings and works.

We also had to make two small booklets. One was about our food habbits in which I analysed my way to feed me. And the second one was about our study trip in Amserdam, in which I wrote my impressions and inspira-tion from the architecture and the food within Amsterdam.

3 6

L I B R A R YT A S KEvery thursday we had some lec-tures from Joos and Barabara about architecture, food and sus-tainability. In parallel of these lectures we had to do a library task, to keep on thinking on the subjects they introduces in the lecture. So we had to gather infor-mations and diverses research.I worked a lot on this library task, because I like to do that and it was quite natural for me to do all these researches. When I begin to think about something and research about it, there are always many others subject which pop up in my head to keep on researching. So this library task was for me much more a plea-sure than a simple assignment. I gathered researches about the subjects of the lessons but also some extra subjects and person-nal thoughts and deductions. This assignment made me un-derstand that research is de-finitely the part of the de-sign process I enjoy the most.

3 7

E S S A Y The essay was as the library task an assignment I enjoyed a lot. It requires a lot of researches and thinking, observations and connections. But with the essay I was much more unconfident and afraid because of the writing part. Gather informations is not a problem for me, think about it and make connection neither, but write and express my ideas with words is much more diffi-cult. Not because of the english, I have the same trouble with french. I don’t know how to for-mulate my ideas and I don’t like the classical formulations. For sure, I will solve it in practicing. So it was nice to me to have this essay to write to practice and go further than my fear of writing.

I changed many times the sub-ject of my essay. The first ones were far too wide, and they was too many informations. I finally wote about «our accessibility ad-diction in our future cities». This subject was much more person-nal and I liked a lot to work on it.

At a certain time, I felt the need to draw schemes also for my researches.

The first lesson with Wim, we had to take a picture of a space and draw it as a mindmap, so with text above the drawing to explain some specific relation with find with the elements on the drawing. I took Zbar in photo because I spend a lot of time over there. Wim found the drawing very good. I had to improve the text part few times to make it more personnal and make more playful relations between the drawings and the letters.

4 0

B EDROOMWe had to make a drawing of our bedroom. We first made two A4 drawings, then we had to make a A2 one with an exagerated perspec-tive and somewhere in the drawing we had to hide an object with an other scale. So the objective was to attract the eyes on different points on the drawing and hide the object somewhere outside of these focusing points. Then it takes much more time to find the object. After the A4 drawings I did some sketches to see where I could hide a big cellphone and where I can do the focus points.

I made the A2 drawing with a fine liner and create the focus point not with the light but with the ac-cumulation of details. By adding textures I made kind of fake greys to contrast with the empty spaces. The problem I always had during the feedback was that I didn’t exagerate the perspective enough. I always do very geometrical compositions, so it took a while before I get to this perspective.

I liked this assignment. I used a tool I’m used to work with, but I draw with a style I’m not used to. So it was funny to draw my bedroom with a kind of old 80’s style. I had a lot of fun.

1

4 1

WAY TO H O M EWe first had to take pictures of the architecture in our way from home to school. Then we had to do a mindmap of it, in mixing all the pictures together. On this composition we had to add the Haiku we wrote with Liesbeth.I first did a drawing of the com-position I wanted to draw. I loo-ked the picture I took and found which lines could be connec-ted with which other lines.

After the bedroom assignment I get more what kind of perspective Wim expected so it was less a pro-blem. So I began a first A2 drawing, which was good but the font of the Haiku was to «flat» and not enough expressing the sentences. Then I did the second A2 where I placed the sentences in a more dynamic way, following the pers-pective lines. I wrote some words in different ways, some more bold, or with more letter spacing.I’m quite happy of the re-sult. I like the freedom we have in Wim’s assignment.

12

4 2

CLEAN ME UP FROM IT

We had to make a comic strip on one A3 paper. The first step would be to have a general point of view of the action, then have afew dif-ferent steps where the point of view change from an element to an other one, always for the same action.

For this assignment I was a bit out of the assignment. I wanted to illus-trate the text I wrote with Liesbeth about the Mike Kelley’s exhibition. The subject is the thought of a women who is delivering a stillborn baby. My story is not about the action but more about thoughts and feelings. So instead of changing the point of view between the different steps, I worked about different compo-sition to express these feelings.

My first step was two A3 pages in a quite classical way: frames, small text and for each text an illustration.

The second step was one A3 pages with the three chapter in lines. The drawings are more evo-luing in a line, more abstract and less directly related to the text.

1

2

The third step is one compostion on A3 with text and images at the same time. I focused on the orga-nic shapes I used for the drawings to make the whole composition.

The last step is a small booklet where is illustrated the story. The idea was to read this book as a whisper, a confidence of the mother to you.

3

4

4 3

I enjoy so much this project. It was a very personnal one, from my per-sonnal researches and thought, and I could draw again as I like so much to do. So it was definetly a very big plea-sure to work on it.

LIESBETH EXPRESSION

WORDS

RYTHM

TEXT

The moment of relief is here.

Waiting for a noise.Waiting for a scream.Waiting for a breath.But only the death.The silence. The void.

The thing is blue. The thing is cold. There is no life in it.The eyes are closed. The lungs are empty. It came out silently. By consuming the last energies in my body.

It should have a life. It should have a name. It should have an identity. It should be human. It should be a citizen. It should grow up. And become a person. But it’s dead.

Instead of giving life I gave death.

I would have had to take it home with me. I should take it in my arms. Feel the heat of its skin.Feel the breath of its lungs.Feel its eyes on my eyes.Feel its mouth on my breast.

I should sing it songs.I should learn it life.I should feed it with my milk. But my body killed it.My body poison it.

My body contain death. My body made death. My body delivered death. My sexual pleasure produced death.

It takes my blood. It takes my breathe. It takes my energy. It takes my food.It takes my beauty. It takes my life.It takes my joy.

Clean me up from it.

4 5

I was quite curious of the writing lesson. I’m afraid of writing. But Liesbeth’s lessons are all about find your own way to write. So it made me feel more comfortable with it.I figured out that for me the best thing to do it’s to write how I would speak. So I write quite a lot because I speak a lot. But then in a second time I read what I wrote and select the good sentences, make more or-der because of the repetitions, etc.

It was about: write a text about your mind process. In a first time I did a very long text which was too wide. I didn’t focus on my mind process. In a second part of the assignment we had to write it in a more objective way. I didn’t like it because it was to irrealistic, I didn’t find an interesting way to do it. I still felt uncomfortable about writing at this moment.

5 CONVER-S E X I O N We had to write Haiku related to

our drawings for Wim about our way to home. I felt uncomfortable at the beginning to work with poetry, but after a while I found a context to write about, and I found many possibilities. This assignment was a kind of «brain wave» to find freedom in writing.

We had to write the text for our website about ourself. It is a dif-ficult thing. I didn’t want to do a biography, but more express my own ideas and what I would like to achieve. I wrote then a kind of manifesto. It was a good exercice to write more clearly my ideas.

After our visit at Mike Kelley exhi-bition, we had to write a story that it would inspire us. I liked a lot his work, and the way he decline childhood to sexual intercourse. After thinking a lot about the meanings, I did many researches about the stillborn babies. I wrote then a text which could be the very dark and intimate thought of a mother having a stillborn baby.

The last assignment was to write an essay about a personnal expe-rience. I chosed to write about Conversexion, the «in-between» project we made during the first trimester about the mix between gender. I will write an essay about it, about my statement in this thought, my argument, and what I would like to do with this project. I really want to go further with it. So I began dee-per researches, and s the library task and essay we made for ar-chitecture, I will build this pro-ject about a in-between identity.

PORTFOLIOFor Wielfred we had to buil a port-folio online. He gaves us some lessons about the html code on the software Deramweaver, and we had to build our own website. I liked to learn it. I think it’s so-mething very handy to know, and after we can do a lot of thing on internet, which is so useful nowa-days. So I’m glad to know to do it now, and I didn’t find it so diffi-cult, so I’m actually having a lot of fun with this kind of stuffs now.

These are examples of try out for tha lay out of the web-site. It’s very handy before to begin to do the code to know exactly what you want to do.

LEARNING GOALS

/ COMPARE YOUR SELF-REFLECTION DOCUMENT WITH THE EVALUATION FORMS. / WHAT ARE THE SIMILARITIES? About the methodic lessons, I had as comment «take criticism more seriously». I know it’s linked with the fact that I do my very own choice, even if the teacher advice me something else, in the case, of course, which I trust my decision. I noticed myself that I felt restricted in these asignments, it’s why I decided to take my own choices. But some teacher also said to me to keep these reactions because it’s how I build my own projects as well. An other similarity is rightly that I work very independant, with my own perception.

/ WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES? None.

/ WHAT ARE YOUR «BLIND SPOTS»? WHAT DO OTHERS NOTICE WHAT YOU DID NOT NOTICE YOURSELF? Some teachers noticed that I have an analytical side stronger than poetic, and that I should make more balance.

/ WHAT DO YOU WANT TO LEARN DURING THIS TRIMESTER?/ HOW WILL YOU ACHIEVE THESE GOALS?/ HOW CAN YOU MEASURE IF YOU ACHIEVED YOUR GOAL? /Totakeiteasy.IhavetounderstandthatI’minfirstyear,I’monlytwentyandI’mstillnotadesigner. I have time in my life to improve myself, so I don’t have to put too much pressure on me. Teachers are not asking me for the moon, but I’m asking it to myself.

- I’ll achieved it in staying focused on the essential of a project, on what is asking, and how I can answer to that. I also have to not spend so much time on any details. - I could see if I achieved it if I still feel free, and I didn’t burn myself out after a while.

/ Feel more free in the methodic lessons. For this kind of lessons, I take a while to enjoy the assignments because it’s exercice that I can’t appropriate to myself so much. So I come quickly to a standstill because i don’t feel free enough to do my best. But I have to understand that even in this «cage», there is still a possibility of freedom. So, there are limits, but I still have little bit of space between them.

- To achieve this goal I should stand more back to the assignment. I should use the freedom that I still have, even if there is limits. - I will see that I achieved it if I enjoy more methodic lessons, and that I react to the project already from it beginning.

/Thinkmoreinvolume,3D,orfindawaytoworkvizualisedmoremyprojectsin3D.(atthemoment of research and concepts)

- To achieved it I should do more models, and think about the graphic composition later in the project. - I’ll see if I achieved this goal when my work in 3D will be more functional and simple. Also ifIvizualisedproductor3Dobjectfromthebeginningofaproject.

OUR ACCESSIBLITY ADDICTION IN OUR FUTURE CITIES

Our society has an addiction to accessibility. In our developed countries everything is accessible at any moment and for any price. Internet is accessible eve-rywhere for free, in the middle of the winter you can buy summer fruits, for fifty euros you can flight through the whole world. But this system doesn’t work anymore. It is proved by the economic and ecologic crisis. To change it, many solutions are already found, but they propose very extreme changes. People are used to their way of living. If we want to propose any solutions, it have to be adapted to our actual accessibility addiction, to step by step get to an other system. We need a transition step. A first «in-between» solution.

Because of the growth of the population, cities gonna be our main environment in the future. Any changes we want to make has to be think within a urban environment. Lot of solutions can be found in the organisation of our cities. I will mainly focus on the food system and the mobility.

By living in cities, we behave as if we do not belong to the natural world. With our food system it is the food which come to us and not us who are making the effort to feed ourselves.

A first weak point in our system is our cheap food. A great system because it permits to everybody to buy anything. It is so attractive that nobody paid attention to how it is produce, and what is really cheap food. Currently the system has been pointed by few proofs of the extreme bad quality of these products.. The solutions which has be found are comsumption of organic products, system of local food, which is also returning to simple farming. But our cities are far too big to be fed by natural farming. An other solution would be to make food a bit more expensive. Then people would pay more attention of what they eat and the quality could be better. But in small towns in the middle of France for example, lower class families are happy to buy meat for two euros. And even if they know what kind of bad quality it is, they will still buy it, because they want to feed their children with a minimum of meat. We cannot go back to «poor people eat bread, rich people eat meat». Nobody will be interesting in it. We need to find the balance.

Revolutionising living standards for city dwellers, the ready made food is a very important food system. People want to eat fast, cheap and good. And it is possible nowadays. But it comes out of an industrial food system which cannot stay like it is. The fact is that we can’t say to these people, okay from now you have to go to the market the sunday morning, buy organic vegetables and cook it at home. If they buy ready made food it’s because they don’t want or don’t have time to do that. So yes for sure, we should eat local, we should buy to the farmers, we should cook in a beautiful kitchen a wonderful meal. But this idea doesn’t match with the everybody’s life. We should find a solution to use local food to prepare sandwiches and other fast meals in the streets. Develop the catering instead of develop-ping the fast foods for example. It’s gonna be a bit more expensive, but raise the prices should not be a problem. If we raise the price of food, it means that we change the whole food system. More farming means more farmers. We can create more jobs around the cities to produce what they eat within the city. Then lower class families still could buy some meat, because they would have jobs, and buy for cheap price the left over pieces of meat or the not so red tomatoes.

An other fact which has to change in our urbanisation is the mobility. In our actual cities, activites are mainly condensed in the center. Inhabitants always have to move from their district to the center for anything; job, groceries, shopping, services, culture... The architect Douwe Jan Joustra (4) suggests to focus on the life conditions of every districts and suburbs in

sort of their inhabitants would not need anymore to go to city center. In the visual essay «Scramble City» (1) they compare cities in which the center is condensed to fried eggs. A better solution would be a city looking like scrambled eggs, with some center of attentions dispatch everywhere through the city. To solve this problem we should first develop much more the public transportations, to save at least the impact of the individual transportation. Then in a second time we should review the compositions of the cities, to try to make every disctrit independants.

An other solution for the mobility is internet. It is a good way to organize our lives. Douwe Jan Joustra has an example with the concept of working at home (4). We can think working areas in an other way. Working spaces are essential only for production works, but for economic activities for example, we don’t need a commun office. People can work at home and share their work on internet. It can solve a lot the mobility issue... but not the social one.

We live in a digital age. Internet and high technologies products are for sure the source of our accessibility addiction. A daily life with an Iphone is now too much comfortable and common to throw them away. We found a lot of hope in using high technologies and internet to live in a more eco-friendly way, because e-mail save more paper than post-mail, Iphone’s cameras save a massive production of pockets cameras, etc. Many functions integrate in one same object is very useful, also because it save place for housing, which gonna be smaller and smaller with the growth of the population. But the question is: how ecofriendly is an Iphone? how eco-friendly is internet? Few researches prove that indeed internet has an impact on the environment. Using internet is using elec-tricity, and each google research is a C02 emission. Companies already found some ways to build data centers with more environmental respect. But a question is raised that right now internet consumption doesn’t cause any trouble, because less than half of the planet is using it. But in ten years it should be one third more of the world with a daily use of internet. And here is the risk to feel much more the impact of internet on the environment. Use internet to reduce our waste nowadays is indeed a solution, but it’s not the ultimate solution. We have to go back to the essential. We have to reduce our addiction, to remember what are our basics needs, what is fundamental in our life. The movement Slow Design, for example, reveals spaces and experiences in everyday life that are often missed or forgotten. Their processes are “open source” and collaborative, relying on sharing, co-operation and trans-parency of information. The writer Henri David Thoreau in 1854 (3) already tend to go back to the essential, to have a simple life focus on nature and well being. These notions begin to be present, but still through the cosumption society.

If there is one thing we need to change first, it is the education. It is the solution to influence the society and make a change. We have to educate the future generations in a dif-ferent way. It’s a good way to integrate a new way of thinking, of living, of behaving. It’s not about educate them how works the world now, but how should work the world, and how it should be later. We have to give them a more open-minded education, with hope and possibilites.

Humans need to gather to be able to do something.

The question is now how to make all these changes? We have to find solutions, products, services, to answer these questions and change our daily habits. But it has to be adapted to nowadays. We have to find realistics ideas and solutions to interest people with it and integrate them step by step in the everybody’s life.
