TANK APPLICATIONS

•Dutchland,Inc.producesdesign/buildextendedaerationwastewatertreatmentplants,utilizinghighqualityequipmentandcompleteprocessdesigns. Additional information is available for extended aeration plants designed and manufactured by Dutchland, Inc.

TYPICAL INSTALLATION

•PrecastconcreteelementsaremanufacturedataPrecast/PrestressedConcreteInstitute(PCI)certifiedfacility.

•Precastconcreteelementsaresetonapoured-in-placeslabwithinareceivingkeyway.Alignmentischeckedwithlaserequipment.

•Temporarypropsareattachedtotheinnerfaceofthetankandsecuredtothebase.Top-of-wallbracketsplacedatthepaneljointsinsurepanelalignment.

•Tendonsarethreadedintotheductsandpartialtensionisappliedtoalltendons.

•Walkwaysaresetintoplaceandpartialtensionisapplied.

•Jointgroutispumpedintothejointcavities.

•Finaltensioningisappliedtoalltendons.

•Basetowallelastomericsealantsareapplied.

STRUCTURAL SUPERIORITY

•Exteriorandinteriorwallsaretypicallydesignedforfullwaterloadononesideandemptyontheotherside,unlessotherwisespecified.TanksaredesignedinconformancewithACI318andACI350.

•Precastpost-tensionedtankscanbeconstructedaboveground(withthebaseslabbelowfrost),completelyburied,orpartiallyout-of-grade.Tankscanalsobedesignedtowithstanddifferentialbackfill.

•Post-tensionedwalkwaysprovideastructuralupperfixedbeam.Withouttheneedforconventionalcantileverdesignrequirements,thewallthicknessofdeepstructuresisreduced.

•Thefootprintisgenerallymuchsmallerduetodeeperwallsandcommon-wallconstruction.

DURABILITY

•Allwallpanelsaresolid(notbuiltinaddedlayers).

•Allwallsarecasthorizontallyinsteelforms,providinganextraordinarilydenseandimpermeablemember.Spallingandsurfacedefectswhichistypicallyassociatedwithcast-in-placeconcreteisvirtuallyeliminated.

•Maintenanceassociatedwithsteeltankage(dewatering,sandblasting,repainting)isnotrequired.

•Exteriorcoatingsarenotrequired.Penetratingstainsordecorativecoatingsareavailableuponrequest.

1. CAST-IN-PLACE POST-TENSIONED BASE SLAB (optional)

Post-tensioned base slabs are cast on-site. Post-tensioned base slabs are in compression, eliminating cracking.

•Reinforcementisplacedwithinthebaseform.•Post-tensioningtendonsareplacedwithintheformwork.•Keywayformsareplacedandcheckedforelevationanddistancefromcenterofthetank.

•Concreteisplacedinacontinuousmonolithicpourandsteeltrowelfinished.•Theformsareremovedandthebaseiscoveredorsprinkledwithwatertoachievepropercuring.

•Initialpost-tensioningisappliedafterapproximately20hoursbyPost-TensioningInstitute(PTI)certifiedpersonnel.

•Finalpost-tensioningisapplied,uponconcreteachieving75%ofdesignstrength.•Tendontailsareremovedandtheanchorpocketsarecleaned,primedandfilledwithgrout.

2. TANK WALL PANEL INSTALLATION

Conforming to the AWWA D-115 standard, all production and installation procedures insure a high quality tank system.

•Bearingpadsandshimsareplacedinthekeyways.•Wallpanelsareliftedbyacraneandsetintoplace.Alignmentischeckedwithlaserequipment.

•Temporarypropsareattachedtotheinnerfaceofthewallpanelsandsecuredtothebase.

•Tendonductextensionsareplacedandsealedbetweenthewallpanels.•Tendonsarethreadedintotheducts.•Verticaljointsareformed.Groutispumpedintothejointcavityandconsolidated.•Circumferentialpost-tensioningisadministeredbyPTIcertifiedpersonnel.•Expandinggroutispumpedintothetendonducts,topermanentlyencasethetendonsandcreateabondtothetankwalls(bondedtendontankoption).

•Anelastomericsealantisusedtosealthebasetowallconnection.•Thetankisheldinconstantcompressionbytheencasedpost-tensionedcables.

4. THE FINISHED PRODUCT

The finished product consists of a precast post-tensioned concrete tank designed for longevity with virtually no maintenance.

A no hassle ten-year structural warranty covers the base, wall, and roof systems of all post-tensioned tank structures manufactured and installed by Dutchland, Inc.

•Allwallpanelsaresolid(notbuiltinaddedlayers).•Allwallsarecasthorizontallyinsteelforms,providinganextraordinarilydenseandimpermeablehighstrengthconcreteexterior.Thepotentialforspalling,typicallyassociatedwithshot-creteorcast-in-placeconcrete,isvirtuallyeliminated.

•TanksmanufacturedbyDutchland,Inc.do notrequireasteeldiaphragm,orexteriorcoatingsforwater-tightness.

•Norepaintingorshot-cretemaintenanceisrequired.•Exteriorcoatingsarenotrequired.Penetratingstainordecorativecoatingsareavailableuponrequest.

•Theresultisanocompromise,costcompetitivetankmanufacturedandconstructedinaccordancewithAWWAD-115standard.

3. ROOF AND SUPPORT SYSTEM INSTALLATION

Multiple tank cover designs are available, including precast concrete sloped roof systems, precast concrete domes, and aluminum geodesic domes.

•Precastconcretesectionsareliftedintoplace.•Post-tensioningtendonsareinsertedintothetendonducts.•Circumferentialpost-tensioningisadministeredbyPTIcertifiedpersonnel.•Excesstendonisremoved,capped,andsealedoff.•Polyurethaneelastomericsealantand/orClosedCellFoamGasketareappliedattheroofjointstoinsurewater-tightness.
