A LETTER FROM SILENTSCREAM.ORG

Dear Silent Scream Website,

I just wanted to write a quick note to say thank you. I was supposed to have an abortion today and I was up all last night researching abortions on the internet. I came upon your site and couldn’t stop thinking about it. It had a profound effect on me. I still went to the clinic and went through the blood testing and watched their video…then came the ultrasound; I begged the nurse to let me see my baby; I felt that I had to see. As soon as I saw my child on the ultrasound I knew I couldn’t do it. The clinic can absolutely NOT convince me that the living child inside me wasn’t going to feel anything. I saw the heart beating, and he moved his little hands (almost like a wave). I think God intervened and sent me a message that I was about to make the biggest mistake of my life. My nurse was very compassionate (which I thought was odd) I asked her for a picture of my baby and she explained that she wasn’t allowed to do that. She also explained that she wasn't supposed to show me the ultrasound screen either. Well, she broke the rules and gave me a picture anyway. Thanks to the nurse at the clinic and to your video I made the right decision. I'll be having the baby in 7 months and am looking forward to meeting my little miracle in person.

Thank you a million times over,Erica

ABORTION SHOULD BE

ILLEGAL!

Page 5: Pro-Life Debate

WE’RE ARGUING…

We believe that a child, whether born or not, is still a human being with a life. Meaning, if

you abort, you are committing murder. Is killing an unborn baby different from killing a living baby? If a woman that is pregnant gets

hit by a car or dies, the person who was responsible for the accident is charged with

murder of TWO people. The baby that is UNBORN is counted as a human being in this

case. How come it isn’t the same for abortion?

Page 6: Pro-Life Debate

WHAT IS ABORTION?Abortion is the killing of an unborn baby.

Thereare different ways to perform an abortion. Some methods involve physically

extracting thebaby and others involve the use of

chemicalsInjected into the womb or pills taken by the mother.

ABORTION COMPLICATIONS

Younger = Higher complication rate

FREQUENCY OF COMPLICATIONS

• 10% of women undergoing abortions suffer from immediate complications

• 66% of teenagers who aborted their first baby, the second “wanted” baby, experienced miscarriages

• In a 5-year study, 25% of women who have had abortions sought out psychiatric care, versus just 3% of women who have not had abortions.

Page 11: Pro-Life Debate

---PHYSICAL COMPLICATIONS---REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

• Incomplete abortion• Cervical damage• Future infertility• Future miscarriages• Future prematurity• Later infant

disability

Page 12: Pro-Life Debate

---PHYSICAL COMPLICATIONS---BREAST CANCER

• Abortion interrupts breast development

• Link to other cancers---• Cervical• Ovarian

Page 13: Pro-Life Debate

THERE HAS BEEN OVER 350

IDENTIFIED DEATHS FROM LEGAL

ABORTION IN THE U.S. SINCE 1972.

I’M PRO-LIFE EXCEPT IN CASES OF RAPE…

You can’t really call yourself ‘pro-life’, can you?

1. It’s extremely rare2. She’s a victim of a violent act,

should we then make her do another and abort?

SO, WHAT ABOUT RAPE AND INCEST?

ABORTION DOCTORS

Abortion doctors would be forced to give abortions when they think it’s

morally wrong and would cause some doctors to quit.

Page 16: Pro-Life Debate

EMOTIONAL COMPLICATIONS• sad mood• Sudden and uncontrollable crying episodes• Sleep, appetite, and sexual disturbances• Reduced motivation• Disruption in interpersonal relationships• Extreme guilt • Depression and thoughts of suicide

Some people experience immediate psychological problems from abortion. Other women repress feelings of guilt , delaying emotional reactions sometimes for several years and oftentimes triggered by their first PLANNED pregnancy.

Page 17: Pro-Life Debate

Complication Frequency• National statistics on abortion show that 10% of women

undergoing abortions suffer from immediate complications, of which one-fifth were considered major.

• teenagers who aborted their first pregnancies, 66% subsequently experienced miscarriages or premature birth of their second "wanted" pregnancies.

• In a 5-year study, 25% of women who have had abortions sought out psychiatric care, versus just 3% of women who have not had abortions.

Life In The Womb• 21 days after conception- the baby’s heart

begins to beat• 40 days- electrical brain waves start to show• 3 weeks- eyes, lungs, stomach, and other

organs start developing• 4-5 weeks- mouth, arms ears, nose, fingers,

and toes start forming. Baby is about the size of a finger nail

• 6 weeks- skeleton made of cartilage is complete

Page 19: Pro-Life Debate

Life In The Womb•7 weeks- organs that determine gender of the baby are now visible•9-10 weeks- baby can feel, open and close it’s mouth, and has fingernails and fingerprints•3 months- baby can move it’s face and produce waste•4 months- baby can kick•5 months- baby can hear outside voices•6-8 months- baby can open it’s eyes

Page 20: Pro-Life Debate

Babies are normally aborted 8-14 weeks into the pregnancy

This is after the baby’s heart started beating and it has already developed of its organs and has

fingernails!!

Abortion Experience I was 15 years old when I got pregnant. The boy that I was pregnant by said it was not his baby, but I know it was his baby because he was the only boy I slept with in five months. I was only two months pregnant, so I was sure it was his baby. My momma kind of started to notice my stomach was getting big and that I was throwing up a lot, and she then told me to get an abortion…no questions asked. It was like what I had to say did not matter because I had no say in the matter.

What She Had to Say

I really regret having an abortion because I wanted my baby. It would have been hard because I am so young, but I would do anything I could to take care of my baby. It hurts me that I killed my first child. I love kids and it will never happen again. I hate to see baby things and pregnant people because it brings back memories of April 14, 2007; and I will never forget it.

Abortion ExperienceWhen I was 16 I had an abortion. It has been only five months since then. I was messing around with someone much older than me, always thinking that it was not going to happen to me. However, it did; and it felt like a ton of bricks hitting you in the face. To look down at your pregnancy test saying positive, saying you have a baby on the way. I looked for the easy way…abortion. It was the only way to keep it from my parents and not let my friends know about it. So the guy and I went for the abortion. At first I was happy. I no longer had worries or responsibilities, but that changed.

Page 24: Pro-Life Debate

What She Had to Say

Now I look around my school, and I see girls younger than me carrying a child. Why couldn’t I do it? Their life is no different than mine. I could have raised a child. To think that I could have been a mom…have a little girl in my arms…to know that I brought her into this world. But, no, I did the opposite…I took her out because I chose the easy way out. Think before you do it. It is a life full of regrets
