SAMANTHA TAN

SEAPLANES is a design based on the invention of the Wrights Brothers’ invention of the first airplane, making controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight possible with the development of the 3-axis control to achieve balance of the aircraft. This directed the house to express movement along 3-axises, x, y and z and have a balanced composition of volumes.

The site is enclosed by Tanglin Halt Road and Tanglin Halt Close with both sides facing greenery with high rise buildings in the background. The masterplan proposes two rows of housing, curved inwards to enclose an eye-shaped swimming pool. Water is extended to the sides of each plot with the use of water features. Meadows are placed at both ends of the site which includes a playground, exercise stations and function room.
