Is privacy a thing of the past, something we must give up for the benefit of all, or have we given businesses and nations too much power with our information.

Technology of itself is neither good nor bad; it simply how people use technology that sometimes can cause concern. Internet privacy involves the right of storing personal information. Includes repurposing and provision to third parties, displaying this information on the internet. Internet privacy is computer privacy, privacy concerns have been accumulated since the large scale of computer sharing. Privacy now is a thing of the past, it is something that we must give up in order to benefit of all, by this I mean in order to benefit in security and crime. For example there are many ways in which we have given up our personal information, with this there is; Electronic tracking which can track every movement or action you do, there is DNA profiling, which contains information of 1 in 20 person in each country and also there is also closed circuit television, for example in the UK there is many cameras pointing at the people, more than any other country, which helps reduce crime as everyone is watched.

Electronic tracking is in a way very efficient for business, for example this technology is being used to supply many chains for corporations. This way they can move products to the markets faster and monitor what is moving so they can keep track of it and prevent inventory loss. But given all this power to track companies and nations will also have the ability to track where you are and what are you doing. As children when playing games such as hide and seek, it seemed that there where many places in which you could hide and never be found. Now with this advance in technology is impossible, there are cameras checking if you

pass a red light, in workplaces, in stores and even there could be cameras near where you live, and they are watching you. This may seem to extreme, to be able to track every movement of you, but if we take in mind all the crime that has happened, this can help a lot, decreasing the percentage amount of crime to a minimum, as it is going to be easier to track when crime is going to happen and who is it going to be. It could be annoying to many people because they think that they are invading their privacy and they feel that they cannot even take a shower without the nation or any security business knowing what you are doing, but it is something that we need to give to benefit all and help us be secure.

Having DNA is something that we all need, for example in schools or in business they used what is called DNA fingerprints or just fingerprints, in schools they can be used to track who pays for lunches or who doesn’t, in business they can use this to track which individual has arrived late and which one has arrived in time. This set of data can be very useful not only to see who arrives late or who pays for lunch, but also to keep record of who is in your school or business. With this DNA profiling many business or nations have information of 1 in 20 of the population in the country, with is information they have a complete set of data for each individual. It may worry some people for government and business to have all your information of who you are, but it is something that we have to give up in order to be secure and reduce the amount of crime that there is. For example in a assassination the assassin could leave fingerprints around the place, with DNA profiling police can take samples and have a lab research the fingerprints to find out who was the murderer. It may sound crazy to have all information in a database, in which you don’t know what they do with that information, but again it is something we need to give up in order to benefit most of the people who want safety.

Closed circuit television, the UK has more cameras pointing at its citizens than any other country in the world. More than 1 million cameras are connected and record videos every day around the country. A CCTV camera is often mounted in street corners, works, and car parks and in shops. Most of the people don’t bother that they are there; they mostly don’t even notice them. Recent technology of these cameras has enabled the image, face and plate of car recognition helping to keep eyes on people who are vulnerable to be part of a crime seen or be in it. These cameras are perfect for many businesses, they ensure security for all places and as it has face recognition it tracks what employees do. This cameras increase the use in law-enforcement, for example in traffic, in high-crime areas and in neighbourhoods. These is one of the most worrying of all, as in UK people have concerns on their privacy, but is has to become a routine. The cameras are there to protect the people and to give security comfort to the country.

In conclusion we have given lots of information to the nations and businesses; they have all the information about who we are and where we live. This information can invade your privacy; although it is not a thing of the past, in many countries such as Ecuador there is not electronic tracking or CCTV, as there is no need, this is why it is not a thing of the past because in some countries there is no much control. But if we talk of big countries they have given their privacy for the security of all, and it is a thing we need to give in order to have a secure life and live in a place where you know your kids are going to go school safely.
