Inkjet inks are used within ceramic, textile, glass, wood and paper printing applications. The main components that make up the inks are the solid ceramic pigments, the liquid vehicle that conducts the pigment and liquid additives that help achieve the desired characteristics. After the grinding stage, where the ink pigments are ground to a particle size of a few microns, the inks contain pigment particles of various sizes. Larger pigment particles could block the nozzles on the heads and cause the ink to finish poorly at the time of printing. For this reason, filtration is a key step in the production process of inkjet inks, since it allows to eliminate the largest particles of pigment or other particles that may exist before filtering. This prevents the nozzles of the heads from being blocked and the inks are given a high quality finish.
