CYPRESS CA - Yamaha Factory rac-er Grant Langston was injured during a practice crash at the Yamaha test track in Corona, CA. While preparing for the upcoming Phoenix Supercross on Thurs-day January 11th, Grant went down and, fear-ing he had injured his collarbone, i m m e d i -ately went to the local hospital.

After meeting with his doctors, it was confirmed that Grant Langston did, in fact, break his collarbone. The likeable South African will be forced to miss at least the next four to six rounds of the AMA Supercross series.

Yamaha will update Grant’s condition and possible return date as Grant moves forward with his recovery and return to the Supercross series.

saki teammate Darcy Lange, of Hemet, California. The trio put on quite a battle up front, exchanging the lead a couple of times while pulling from away from the field. On lap 12, Dungey crashed while trying to make a pass on Townley for the lead and dropped out of conten-tion. Lange made a pass to the lead at the end of lap 14, but was quickly re-passed by Townley with one lap remaining. Lange closed to within a bike length of his teammate before a spectacular crash, ironically in the same spot as Dungey’s earlier crash, ended his chance at a win. Townley went on to take the win, fol-lowed by Yamaha’s Ryan Morais, of Tem-ecula, Calif., and Matt Goerke, of Lake Helen, Fla.

This weekend’s AMA Supercross race will air on SPEED, Sunday, March 4, at 6:00 p.m. EST. The AMA Supercross Li-tes class race will air on SPEED, Friday, March 16, at 4:30 p.m. EST. The next round of Amp’d Mobile Supercross takes place on Friday, March 9, at the Daytona Motor Speedway.

BUDDS CREEK Carmichael comes to Budds Creek heavily favored to win the premier AMA Motocross class on his Makita Suzuki RM-Z450. It’s easy to understand why the six-time AMA Mo-tocross Champion is the clear-cut favor-ite. He’s never lost an AMA Motocross national at the popular Maryland track since moving up to the premier class in 2000. He’ll be going for an unprec-edented seventh victory in the class this Sunday. In addition, Carmichael is com-ing off a victory in Southwick, Mass., last Sunday. The victory extending the Floridian’s lead over Australian Chad Reed, of Team Yamaha, to 14 points.

Honda’s Davi Millsaps continued his strong freshman season in the series by scoring his second podium result at Southwick. A tight back flared up on the young Georgian last week. He’s hoping to stay loose at Budds Creek so he can prolong his solid run.

Kawasaki’s number one rider James Stewart continued his hot and cold sea-son last week. He won the first moto before a reported mechanical problem led to a crash in the second moto.

Stewart has made history at Budds Creek before. In 2003 Budds Creek was his first race back after being injured during the AMA Supercross season. Even though he wasn’t 100 percent that

year, he shocked everyone by making a triumphant return and winning the Motocross Lites class (then called 125 class).

The two are pushing their bikes right up to and often beyond the limits in their high-speed battles.

“Either I’m crashing or he’s crashingnearly every weekend,” Carmichael said. “At this level something is bound to happen. I’m just trying to keep string-ing good motos together. We usually get heat and humidity at Budds Creek. Those are just the kindof conditions I practice inall the time, so I’mlooking forward toanother good battlethere.”

Reed is looking for his first win atBudds Creek. The well-liked Aussiehas finished on the podium at every round this year and as aresult is as close to Carmichaelat this point in the season ashe’s ever been.

St. Louis 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series

ST. LOUIS Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael made a victorious return to the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series with an impressive win before a crowd of 58,131 at the Edwards Jones Dome. Kawasaki’s Ben Townley picked up the first-ever AMA Supercross Lites victory. Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Tampa Fla., grabbed the $1,500 Progressive Direct Holeshot Award to start the 20-lap main event. On the opening lap, Reed tangled with Kawasaki’s James Stewart, drop-ping the riders from the top two posi-tions. Carmichael was the benefactor and took the lead on lap four, overcom-ing his poor start. Carmichael’s lead would quickly grow as Stewart, who fell to the back of the pack after getting together with Reed, was making his move through the field. Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., eventually tracked down Reed and passed him on lap 12, giving him second on the night. Reed finished third. “I don’t know if I would have caught them after spotting them all those posi-

tions,” said Carmichael, referring tohis poor start. “I saw Chad and James

go down, so that helped, but I sawChad get back up right behind me. I

got into the lead but I was lookingforward to racing them. I was in my zone

tonight but I got a gift.”

In reference to Stewart and Reeds colli-sion, Reed said, “Every week I’m getting

pushed around. It’s racing but hethinks he can walk all over me and

I’m gonna put an end to that.”

Townley, of Tallahassee, won the$1,000 Progressive Direct Holeshot Award to start the Eastern Regional

AMA Supercross Lites main event. He was followed by Suzuki’s RyanDungey,

of Belle Plaine, Minn., and his Kawa-

RYAN HUGHES took the win in Round two of the WORCS series to es-tablish himself firmly in the lead for the Championship. On a fun, but brutal course, “Ryno” gated in the top ten and then moved into the lead late in the first lap.

The Pro field of some of the fastest rid-ers on the planet charged after Hughes. The only rider who could keep him in sight was Kurt Caselli. Hughes worked up an almost 50 second lead through the event, but Caselli continued to attack and to close the gap in the later stages of the race, cutting Hughes lead down to just seven seconds at the white flag. But Hughes would not be denied his first big victory since breaking his right arm al-most eight months ago. Hughes cruised across the finish line a full five seconds ahead of Caselli to take the win and the points lead in the WORCS Series.

How Sweden Is Helping the Arts Nation-WideSwedish art clubs are non-profit organisations for promoting an interest in the visual arts and hand crafts. They also create opportunities for artists to exhibit their work and thereby become known to a wider public. The Swed-ish art club movement is the second largest voluntary nation-wide organisation – only choral societies exceed their number. The first public art club in Sweden was founded in 1832, Konstföreningen i Stockholm (The Stock-holm Art Club), today called Sveriges Allmänna Konstförening – SAK, now open for members all over Sweden. The first art club at a work place was started in 1940 at the CAP chocolate factory in Gothenburg. Sveriges Konst-föreningar was founded in 1973 to form an umbrella organisation for the member art clubs in Sweden. Sveriges Konstföreningar has 1 200 member art clubs. 350 of these are public art clubs, open to anyone, and 850 are to be found in work places, open only to the respective employees.

400 000 people are engaged in the art club movement. Every year, these clubs arrange 3 700 exhibitions and 5 500 various cultural programmes such as talks, study groups, excursions and visits to artists. Moreover, the art clubs buy and distribute art for 123 million Swedish kronor every year. The principal undertakings of Sveriges Konstföreningar are to provide advice and support to the member art clubs, to promote knowledge about visual arts and hand craft, to produce and distribute educational material and to encourage the establishment of new art clubs. Yet another undertaking is to distribute state-financed exhibition fees to artists who show their work at member art clubs.

Sveriges Konstföreningar aims at developing a dynamic national educational visual arts programme. Our chairperson, Cecilia Nelson: “The board of Sveriges Konstföreningar has taken on a challenge: to be Sweden’s leading institution for visual art education! To achieve this, both knowledge and in-sight are necessary. Knowledge is gained from the environment, for example from courses and seminars, insight grows within the individual. Art education a process in two directions – is a tool with which we can see and understand our entire existence. Let us embark on this stimulating journey together!”

The purpose of this manual will be to dem-onstrate the proper use of the new logo, the font family, the color palette, and the proper format of different applications. This will serve as a tool to maintain BLUMES identity through visual communication.

The logo created for BLUMES gives the company a new and modern feel. The colors used in the main logo are bright and vibrant to give that sunny feel. There are three other colored logos to go along with the different seasons.

The placement of the fl owers give that feel of blossoming which help enhance the name BLUMES.

Blumes typographic palette consists of two font families Helvetica Neue and Portland Roman.

Helvetica Neue Regular should be used on all publications produced and may not sub-stituted for any other font or font variation.

On the stationary Helvetica Neue Light is used and may not be substituted with any other font or font variation. (See page 9)

Portland Roman Regular is the only font to be used in the logo. The word “Blumes” must be used with Portland Roman and may not be substituted with any other font or font variation.
