Create a mobile featuring sea creatures from the WOW! Wonders of Water book. On this Journey, you’ll meet Brownie Elf, Grandmother Elf, and the Brownie friends. You’ll also see all kinds of wildlife that live at different depths beneath the ocean’s surface—just like the girls do on their submarine adventure!

Sea Creatures1 Cut out the front and back of each sea
shape.
2 Use glue stick to glue the two sides together, lining up the sea shapes on both sides.
3 Trim on the dashed line.
4 Poke a hole with the pushpin in the top and bottom of each shape.
Paper Clip Hangers1 Clip the smaller loop from approximately
35 paper clips.
2 Tie 2", 3", and 4" lengths of heavy thread (or twisted embroidery thread called Pearl cotton) between two paper clips to make hangers for the shapes.
Balancers1 Fold the printed paper in half on solid
black line.
2 Place a straw on the fold.
3 Glue the printed sides together.
4 Cut on the dashed line to create a fringe (for the coral reef).
5 Use the pushpin (wiggle it around) to make a hole in the center of the balancer.
Mobile1 Cut out the printed blue mobile bottom
section. Also, use a piece of blank paper (blue-colored paper is suggested) to cut a shape of about the same size for the top.
2 Fold the top piece of paper in quarters then reopen.
3 Place it on a flat surface.
4 Overlap two straws to create a + on the folds of the blank piece of paper.

6 Apply glue stick to the unprinted side of mobile bottom and blank piece of paper with straws.
7 Glue the sides together, sandwiching the straws between the layers so the printed blue side is on the bottom.
8 Trim on the dashed line.
9 Poke two holes with a pushpin in the center of the top of mobile on either side of the straw crossing.

Poke holes on each of the four corners at the end of the straws.
To balance out the mobile, use paper clip units to add and remove sea creatures. You can place the sea shapes based on where they live in the ocean, using the illustration below as a deep-sea guide.
Mobile (continued)
Thread a string through the holes to make a loop hanger. (Make a needle using an open paper clip with the string taped to one end.) Be sure to use extra string, so the height can be adjusted later if necessary.
