Historical Perspective

• Industry identified a knowledge gap

• Lockheed pursued MJSP(MN Job Skills Partnership) and investigated potential partnership opportunities

• MJSP designee contacted U of M in 2001

• U of M research determined no other comparable SE program available to serve extensive industry and business needs in the Twin Cities and surrounding area

• Grant developed and approved by MJSP February 2002

• CCE worked with Lockheed Martin to establish a Systems Engineering Certificate program – at the time the only one in Minnesota and one of only 34 programs nationwide

Optional:Statistics for Systems Engineering

Key learning objectives:• Provide foundations of the statistical techniques – background,

applications and examples• Provide training on a computer analysis tool – Minitab statistical

software• Analyze the computer output• Explain the results to upper management – in language that can

be understood• Length: 40 hours
