Another word on repetitions…..
• A study just published in the Journal of Rehabilitation Research and Development (volume 47, no. 9, pp 851-62) compared amounts and types of practice during rehab for persons with stroke and TBI.
• Forty eight patients were observed during treatment. Neither patient group approached the number of repetitions needed for neuroplastic changes!

Something else to consider…
• In general, repetitions per session did not differ between groups but persons with TBI did more reps in upper limb activities, gait steps and transfers.
• Interestingly, therapists with <1 and >15 years experience instructed patients in fewer functional repetitions per minute that therapists with 5-15 years experience.
