Touch Football Knockout

Congratulations to our boys PSSA touch football team whowon their Round 3 match against Bellingen PS on Tuesday,August 6th.

Mr Neal, our boy’s touch football manager has provided areport of the game below. Well done to our boys and thank youto Mr Neal for your commitment. Let's hope the winning streakcontinues!

Our Mullaway boys put in another fine performance showinggreat teamwork and defensive discipline to capture anothervictory, this time against Bellingen PS.

Bellingen were a tough side with a lot of speed and size, but ourboys were not fazed. Jax, Cooper and Soul got things movingwith a quick succession of 'play-the-balls' to gain excellentfield position. The boys forced Bellingen to collapse in, and wedarted around the corners to score our first 2 touch-downs.

Bellingen fought back hard to score their first, and were quicklyback again threatening to score a second when our new recruit,Jye plucked out an intercept and ran the length of the field fora breakaway try. Soul made a monster effort to keep Bellingenout in the corner with half time approaching, making 3 tags inquick succession while being outnumbered on the wing threeto one. At half time, the teams hit the sheds with Mullaway up4-2 on the scoreboard.

The second half was a tight battle. Mullaway scored first, increasing the lead to 5-2, but both sides traded scores, withBellingen picking up momentum in the final 5 minutes. Theythreatened to break our lines again, but the final hootersounded with Mullaway the winners; 6-4.

The boys did themselves proud, playing in good spirits andshowing excellent sportsmanship. Congratulations boys, on afine win! We now have to wait for other teams to complete theirgames before we know who our next opponent will be.

New Students

We welcome Jye to Kookaburra and Mimi to Glossy.

Mr Cheers

Lilly Pilly NewsAs part of a project based learning task, students in Lilly Pillyworked hard to create products using mainly single use andrecyclable materials, in an effort to stop these products endingup in our local landfill. Students explored the impact theseproducts have on our local environment and wildlife, often withdamaging consequences.

Lilly Pilly students created a range of innovative products, including: baskets, plant holders, jewellery, toy robots, arcadegames, hanging ornaments/organisers and lanterns. LastThursday, they sold their products for $0.50 each in a ‘market’to other Stage 2 students. They did a fantastic job and thanksto the generosity of Stage 2 students, were able to raise anamazing $76.50!

This money has been donated to the Dolphin Marine RescueAnimal Rehabilitation Trust who are currently working hard on acampaign to open an interactive Wildlife Hospital and ResearchCentre equipped to treat all native species and specialising inmarine fauna.

Second Hand Clothing Donated to CharityWhen our new school shirt was decided on, we had a threeyear transition period. This transition period is now over. Lastweek we donated all our old-style shirts (four boxes full) to St.Vinnies, Lismore, where they are checked and sorted and sentto schools overseas who are in need of uniform items.

These shirts had been donated by you for us to sell via oursecond hand clothing pool.

If you have any spare or outgrown shirts/shorts/long pants wewould be most appreciative of receiving them for our clothingpool.

Regards, Leanne, Tania & Ryki.

Waste Audit

Mullaway PS Waste Audit and Changes toWaste Collection at School, Term 3.

We are currently assessing our waste impact at Mullaway PS aspart of the MAD Green Grant from Coffs Harbour City Council. As a result we have identified soft plastics as a major source ofwaste for our school. These include biscuit and chip wrappers,as well as cling wrap and zip lock bags.

To increase awareness of the impact this plastic waste hason our environment and to help reduce this waste stream atMullaway we are asking for your help. From this term, Term 3,we will be asking students to take their soft plastic waste homewith them to dispose of. More information will be provided tostudents and families as we make this transition.

We are hoping that this will lead to increased awareness aroundthe impact our everyday choices have on our preciousenvironment. Thank you.
