Dear Parents/ Carers,

It is always with immense pride that I share the many

achievements of our pupils.

We have had a very successful past 2 terms, with our

pupils from Primary to 6th Form doing their very best to

achieve their potential and developing their talents.

We continually set the bar high in lessons, in the oppor-

tunities we provide and as you can, see our pupils have

continued to build their resilience, growth mind-sets

and team skills by rising to the top in house and in open

competitions.

It is not surprising that nearly 80% of our pupils go on to

University every year and I would encourage our Year

11 pupils and their parents who are yet to complete

their 6th Form applications to do so soon. Last year we

had just under 400 applicants, which demonstrates the

demand for our ‘Good’ 6th Form, as judged by Ofsted.

Healthy Eating

The school canteen has an impressive variety of healthy food options for breakfast, lunch and

break. Please encourage your child not to purchase unhealthy options (doughnuts, cookies,

crisps & sweets) from the surrounding supermarkets and shops. We are a healthy eating school

and these items along with sugary fizzy drinks and energy drinks are not allowed in school or in

packed lunches. This applies to all our pupils in primary, secondary and the 6th Form.

On page 9, there is a reminder of the many extra-curricular and enrichment clubs for pupils

which take place at lunch time and after school. Please encourage your child to participate in

developing their learning's outside the classrooms. They will develop so many valuable skills that

will open up doors to access jobs, higher education and most importantly build their relation-

ships with other pupils and adults.

I look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming Parents’ Evenings and Parent Forums (page 9),

where you will have the opportunity to hear about developments across the Academy and how

you can support your child to do their very best.

As always, it is my privilege to work with your child to enable them to achieve their very best.

Thank you for your continued support.

KTG Christmas Fair

T his year, KTG staff and pupil’s began the

Christmas festivities with yet another successful

Christmas Fair.

Ms Allison, our Nursery Nurse, supported by the PTA -

organised the Christmas Fair in the Dining Hall on

Wednesday 14th December 2016.

Every primary staff member had a stall which includ-

ed guessing games to win a prize, Christmas crack-

ers search, face painting and Father Christmas even

made a guest appearance.

We were really pleased to have an impressive turn

out of parents and PTA members who not only at-

tended the event but also volunteered to run stalls.

Your support is well and truly appreciated.

To crown it all, we raised £718.00! Thank you to all

our parents, staff and pupils who supported in mak-

ing this event a resounding success!

Drama Department

E arlier this year, the Drama Department

put forward 10 boys from across Years 8

& 9 to audition for the BBC’s new drama ,

Damilolla our loved boy; based on the true

story of Damilola Taylor.

After several rounds of auditions, Joshua Da-

vid in Year 9 was successfully selected to

play the role of Damilola’s friend.

The drama aired on BBC One on Monday

7th November 2016. Well done to all the pu-

pils who auditioned and congratulations to

Joshua on his debut acting performance.

O ur Health and Social Care Cur-

riculum includes the provision of excit-

ing opportunities for pupils to experi-

ence the practical side of Health and

Social Care. This includes opportunities

to visit care homes, hospitals and

groups to work with vulnerable mem-

bers of the society , including the elder-

ly and people with learning disabilities.

This year, our Health and Social Care

class had the opportunity to meet and work with a group known as the “Bobby Dazzler’s”. The

relationship between Knights Academy and the “Bobby Dazzler’s”began in 2013 with the Head

of Department, Mrs Elliot. The Bobby Dazzler’s are a group of friends made up of senior citizens

aged between 70-94 years old , who met 14 years ago when attending a social session at the

Ringway Community Centre in Grove Park. Our pupils worked with the group by participating

with the activities the group engage in and developing closer relationships through effective

communication.

We also had the opportunity to host the group for Christmas dinner at our Secondary phase.

The evening began with various entertaining games, a tour of our modern school and ended

with a lovely dinner and Christmas gift presentations. The Bobby Dazzlers thoroughly enjoyed

their time at Knights Academy and said they looked forward to visiting the school again. Thank

you to our staff and pupils who contributed in making this visit a success.

A huge congratulations to the Year 12 Elite

shut down their children's social media apps

for a set amount of time so that the pupils can

focus on their independent study without be-

ing distracted.

Well done to Sangavi, Queency, Faruk, Davou,

Sung, Eliakim, Tony, Anushan and Simone for

their efforts and presentation of this excellent

idea.

They have been invited to present their idea

on behalf of the Haberdashers' schools in the

The boys hope to go one better in the Black-

heath District competition this year after com-

peting in the finals last season.

This will be the last year the boys will be playing

together as a team wearing the Haberdash-

ers’ badge and they are relishing the moment.

Girls Football

Year 9&10 Blackheath Cup Winners 2014/15 & 2015/16

K nights’ Girl’s Football team got off to

a great start this academic year.

From Years 7 to 13, the teams have consist-

ently turned up for the Wednesday Millwall

training sessions which take place between

3.30pm and 5.00pm weekly.

This dedication has helped the girls improve

their skills and knowledge of the game. Their

efforts will go a long way to ensuring we se-

cure more fixtures and compete successfully

in the upcoming Cup Challenges. Shamoy

Campbell, Alicia Mcgowan and Tlyssa

Ologunja are an asset to the team both on

and off the pitch. They have become great

role models for our younger players and have

helped with the progression of some of our

Year 8 players particularly Trisha Rose Lafegu-

era who has shown tremendous improve-

ment and confidence.

Our current Year 8 and 9 teams are the

Blackheath Cup Champions for the second

year running and we hope to keep our title

for a third year.

The A team have won every one of their

more opportunities to make up for this later
