Principal – Mrs Toni Skinner WEEK 3 1 November 2019
Principal’s Report
Kindergarten 2020 Our Kindergarten Program will commence shortly with our orientation for all the families on November 6. If you know of any families who live in our area and are school age please let them know we are taking enrolments now at the office. We are all excited to meet our new students for 2020 and welcome them into our lovely school. Razzle Dazzle Our Razzle Dazzle Concert is fast approaching and we are all getting excited for this great show. The students have been very busy rehearsing and getting ready for the show and we are looking forward to November 7 with both the matinee and evening performances on! Sporting and extra curricula photos These photos were taken on Tuesday this week with lots of juggling and organisation from Mrs Rayner. Thank you to all involved on making this happen all in one day! We will let you know when the photos are in and available for purchase. Maths-athon The SRC, along with Miss Drabsch, did an amazing job in organising and running this event last Monday afternoon. The children enjoyed these activities and more than $3000.00 was raised on the day. Thank you to all of the sponsors and the students for making this event a great fundraising activity for our school. School Spectacular This wonderful show is fast approaching and I am very much looking forward to attending the Friday night performance. The children involved have given up many recess and lunch times with Mrs Rayner and Mrs Hansard practising all of the songs and movements. Thank you to everyone involved, not long now until the show. I know you will enjoy this show immensely. If you are interested in buying tickets to one of the performances they are now available on line through Ticketek.

At the end of last term, four Stage 3 KPS students were selected to participate in the Central Coast Gifted and Talented Camp, where students nominated a key learning area that they had a particular interest in. Here are Lily, Annabelle, Tyson and Megan’s reports of the experiences they were offered on this week long camp. Mrs Hoyle GATS Co-ordinator
GATS Camp 2019! “Let the rope down”, the excitement of the giant swing was the first thing we got to enjoy at GATS Camp. Free falling through the air while only attached to an elastic harness really got you in the fun but crazy GATS Camp mood. While at camp we got to enjoy three amazing, scary and exciting sport and recreation activities, although we did get to do three hours of my favourite subject for a day which was the best bit. The English elective was such a fun learning experience which varied between debating, reading and creative writing workshops. To top it off every breakfast, lunch and dinner we were served a buffet of delicious foods. More sport and rec. activities included high ropes, where you would tip toe across varieties of obstacles and tight wire whilst being stranded 7 metres off the ground! Canoeing on the other hand was a much calmer but exciting activity, except for the part where you fall off the canoe. If I had the opportunity I would go to GATS Camp every year, it was truly the most amazing experience. Lily H (English) As I got in the queue to sign in I knew that this was going to be a very fun and adventure filled week. Science was a really enjoyable subject to go for; we dissected animal organs which can be much more fun than it sounds. We also did things involving environmental studies like testing how clean water was, learning how to measure trees and we even went on a bush walk. Alongside all these scientific activities we also did things like high ropes, giant swing and canoeing. During the night we would do exciting activities like drumming, karate, setting up stalls and playing many fun games. Whilst camp activities were enjoyable, it made it even more interesting to hang out with other people from other schools. Nearly all the people I hung out with were from other schools, making it a great way to make new friends. Annabelle L (Science) In the last week of Term 3, I got to attend a GATS camp with three other students from our school - Lily H, Anabelle L and Megan H. We all attended four different subjects, mine was for Visual Arts. The camp went for 4 days and 3 nights. There were lots of students from many different schools and we all made some new friends. I enjoyed learning new skills and got to make lots of different artworks. Tyson P (Visual Arts) On the 24th September I arrived at GAT Camp. It was a fun-filled week with different kinds of activities. I was selected for Drama and I learnt a lot of new things, such as – how to make a drama performance to music. We did sports activities as well. We went on the high ropes, giant swing and learnt how to kayak. There was a different drama teacher every day and I happened to know our last drama teacher because she had taught at our school for the past 4 years. There were fun games nights. My favourite was the drumming night where we did a giant game of four in a row. We learnt karate and of course drumming. It was a great experience and everyone should go! It is a fantastic place to learn and make new friends. Megan H (Drama)

Spare Uniforms for Sick Bay On occasions, students from Kindergarten to Year 6 require a change of clothes for various reasons and to save parents needing to come to the school to provide a change, we lend students shirts, shorts/skorts, sports shorts/skirts, tunics, underwear and/or socks. The office currently has plenty of Winter spare uniforms, however, our Summer stock is extremely low. If you have spare uniform items that your child may have grown out of, we would be grateful to receive them in the office. If your child is leaving Kariong PS at the end of the year, perhaps you could donate their uniforms to the office. We particularly need:
Size 5 shorts... Size 8 tunics …Size 10 polo shirts …Size 12 polo shirts, shorts and tunics Size 14 tunics … Size 15 shorts and polo shirts
Thank you for any assistance you are able to give.

Our Week with Lori – Class KS
KS has been teaching Lori all about bats during our science unit. Lori loved hearing all of the interesting facts - especially that bats are nocturnal so they sleep during the day and fly around at night. Lori even told some of the other birds! All of the wonderful artworks and writing have been hung up in the window. Come and have a look!
YEAR 5 DISPLAYS
5D have been investigating life on the goldfields. Please come and have a look at their amazing displays in the library.
