PRINCIPAL’S COMMENTS 10th MAY 2013 ISSUE 7 Don’t forget our SunSmart Policy. Hats to be worn during Terms 1 and 4. Yesterday we held our annual Mother’s Day celebrations. This year we held special activities in our Gym, where we were entertained by students singing. Guest speakers from the Deer Park Library and our Karate Club addressed the mums, grandmas and a few dads. Special thanks go to the organising group, our Junior School Council and several staff who assisted in setting up, preparing scones and refreshments and helping on the day. I sincerely hope that all our mums enjoyed the afternoon. I’m sure the film clip of several students talking about the love they have for their mums, tugged on their heart strings. Mr Upton did a terrific job of organising students and staff to make the day happen relatively smoothly. Well Done !! On behalf of our staff, I would like to wish all mothers and grandmothers a very Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday. Notes went home 2 weeks ago asking parent to grant permission for us to use photos and film clips to acknowledge student success and to promote our school in newsletters, newspapers, brochures and on our website. I would like to thank the many families who have returned the forms and can I remind parents who have, as yet, not returned the permission form to do so by the end of next week ( May 17) It is essential we gather all forms to update our records. Thank you ! Several parents and students have been asking, “Where is Miss Carmen?” The answer is simple, Miss Carmen has taken some long service leave and is going to Canada and Alaska for a few weeks. School class photographs will be taken on Tuesday the 21 st of May this year. Please make sure your child is in school uniform and at school to be included in the photos. HAIR LICE

We have recently had a number of cases of head lice in the school. Parents are reminded to check their children’s hair regularly to prevent infestation. If you find lice or nits (eggs) in the hair of any family member, please treat the whole family.

Chemists have a range of products available to treat head lice or nits. Any child or adult can be easily infected by head lice.

Regular checks and prompt treatment are the only means of keeping this problem under control.

Thank you to everyone for your assistance.
