Today they were filming an episode for the program’s new series with former Olympic swimmer Shane Gould and, as Shane is a former student of our school, came to film some parts of their episode at our school. Dear Parents & Community,

Special Visitors

This morning, for a short time, we had some special guests join us at Epping North. You may be familiar with the series Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery in which the host and interviewer, Julia Zemiro takes well known Australians back to where they grew up to interview them about their early life and childhood.

Today they were filming an episode for the program’s new series with former Olympic swimmer Shane Gould and, as Shane is a former student of our school, came to film some parts of their episode at our school.

Whilst our students were all very excited at the prospect, they were not involved in the filming at all with the majority occurring in one of our vacant classrooms and our library.

It was a great opportunity for our school, with Shane sharing many lovely anecdotes of her time with us and the positive impact our teachers and our school as a whole had on her early years.

We look forward to viewing the episode when it is released later this year.

regarding this program in the coming days. I encourage all students to participate, as it is a wonderful initiative. Parent Information Evening Our Parent Information Evening will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, 20

th February between 5 and

7pm. The evening is intended to provide an opportunity for parents to meet their child’s teacher and be informed about the year ahead, the class organisation, the class program and expectations for the year. We will meet under the COLA at 5pm for a general school discussion and introductions before heading to individual classes for specific class presentations starting at 5.15pm. For parents who have children in two classes, these presentations will be repeated at 6.05pm, ensuring that you have the opportunity to attend both should you wish. Should you have three children at the school, I suggest both parents attending different presentations to ensure you catch the information. Should you be unable to attend, please contact your child’s teacher for a brief overview. New awards system Thank you for your support and positive feedback regarding the changes to our awards system for students. The students are very excited about the changes and it has been wonderful to see our community getting behind it and really encouraging them with lots of positive talk about the new awards. Lunchboxes It has come to my attention that there has been some discussion within the community and on social media regarding students’ lunches and lunchboxes. As a result, I wish to take this opportunity to explain how, as a school, we manage students’ lunches. Each morning, students are to remove their lunchboxes from their bags and place them into lunch tubs that are kept in the classroom, whilst bags remain outside. These tubs are then taken out by the students for recess and lunch. Once students have finished eating, their lunchboxes are returned to the tubs, which are in turn taken back to classrooms at the end of the break. I do wish to stress that it is the responsibility of individual students to place their lunch in the appropriate tub each morning. Teachers will not open the bags of individual students to ensure they have completed this simple task. Doing this is an important part of developing students’ individual responsibility within our school and is very much in line with our Positive Behaviour for Engaging Learners program. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office for further information. Swimming Carnival We are very much looking forward to this Thursday’s Swimming Carnival for students in Years 3-6 and some 8 year old students in Year 2. Given the weather has been so warm lately, please ensure your child/ren are well prepared and we ask that you reinforce the Slip, Slop, Slap message at home. Obviously, we expect all students to wear an appropriate hat, but we also encourage all families to ensure they apply sunscreen to their children in the morning before they leave home. We will be reminding students throughout the day to reapply their sunscreen, but this is not a task we can complete for them, so a good baseline protection first thing in the morning is advised. SRC STEWART HOUSE SCHOOL CLOTHING APPEAL 2019

Stewart House bags were here before our SRC was even formed for the year!

Bags were put into class pigeon holes on Monday 18 February and will be collected from the uniform shop on 12 March. Please help us support the children who visit Stewart House for respite each year by putting any discarded clothing into the bags and leaving them in the uniform shop. If you need more bags ask Mrs Mahieu or Mrs Diver.

Thank you.

FLEXI-SCHOOLS

Just a reminder to all parents to update their child’s flexi-schools 2019 class on-line to avoid issues with the Canteen and Uniform shop orders going to the wrong class. Summer PSSA On 15th February a group of boys and girls went out to Roslea PS to play our first ever game of Austag. The boys played first against Normanhurst West. Even though they played well and showed spectacular passing around the field, the boys unfortunately lost 5-1. Next were the girls, who played amazing for their first game. They finished with a 1-all draw. Aidan (6L) Last Friday, our school went to play softball PSSA. The girls were amazing winning 5-3. They versed Normanhurst West. Although it was our first game, we all played beautifully against each other. I have to say the game was tight but Epping North was smacking the balls and sprinting base to base. For a first game, it was fantastic. The boys softball team were also fantastic and although they didn’t take home the gold they drew 3-3. Just like the girls, the boys versed Normanhurst West. For the first game, it was wonderful to watch. Charlie and many others were smacking the balls in every direction hoping not to get caught out! It was a brilliant game. All the teams worked well together and I have to say ENPS and Normanhurst West were super well behaved and showed great sportsmanship. Elisabeth (5S)

Sick Bay Thank you to the Mums who have offered to wash our sick bay linen. I will send home the roster this week with your child. Margaret Mahieu
