Nowra High School ‐ It’s News To Me
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am excited to announce that we will be welcoming the students back into school starting from Monday 11th May as per the Phase 1 plan for COVID 19 management. Each student year group has been allocated specific days and times to be at school as outlined in our calendar on the next page. These are very uncertain times with the COVID-19 pandemic and we are doing our best to keep you informed as each new development arises.
The main objective of the phase 1 return to school program is to support student wellbeing and connectedness within the limits of social distancing. This means that the students will get to see their teachers and classmates and speak face to face, discussing life in general as well as questions and concerns about schoolwork. This is a very important part of school life to reduce the feelings of isolation which can arise for our students when they are working online.
Classwork will be delivered in the same way and students will still be required to submit work online throughout the school week, including their attendance at school day. We will require all students to bring their electronic device to school with them on their attendance days at school, to ensure they can continue to complete their set tasks.
Year advisors will be on-site during their year group’s visit days and I strongly encourage students to say hi and raise any concerns they have with a staff member so that we can best support them.
The canteen will be available during these two weeks with a limited menu. We strongly encourage you to pre-order from the canteen online via the flexischools app. Water bubblers are not to be used at school and we encourage all students to bring a refillable water bottle clearly labelled with their name.
Please check your email for a highly detailed publication I sent out earlier this week with all of the details you will need regarding school in Weeks 3 and 4.
If you have any concerns please email us or call us on 44214977.If your child is at all unwell you must keep them home from school.
Kind regards
Mr Glen Kingsley,
Principal

What will this look like? Normal school start, finish and bell times will apply – 9:06am to 3:20pm. Students will be separated into classes of 10 and allocated to a room for the day. Students will continue to follow the One Unit of Work online learning policy as per Department of Education Guidelines, however, they will be facilitated face-to-face by an allocated teacher. If students can bring their online learning device on their allocated day, it would be appreciated, if not we will do our best to ensure students in attendance have access to a computer/laptop. Some students may have their current teacher in their class, but with timetabling restrictions and physical distancing protocols, this cannot be guaranteed.
