Principal Viewer Training

The Principal Viewer program was designed to allow school administrative staff such as Principals, AP’s, counselors, dept. heads, activity directors and coaches the ability to monitor up-to-the minute student progress without classroom interruption.

Administrators have instant, real-time access to the Pinnacle database and can query, manage, and report on individual grading, attendance and discipline data in real time as they need it.

Complete the log in screen. The User ID is your Employee Number and the password is the same as the one you would use to access any MDCPS web application (i.e. ISIS, e-mail, or SPI)

• Onceyouhaveloggedin,maximizethescreenusingtheboxintheupperright corner of the screen.

• GototheOptions menu and select Toolbar, Large.

ViewaStudentGradesReport(HTML)for a student for his (or her) 3rd Period class. This is the same report that teacher may access in Reports > Custom Reports,in Gradebook2andwillbeavailableto parents and students through the Parent Internet Viewer. (https://gradebook.dadeschools.net/piv)

Student > Parent Conference Report

View the Parent Conference Report for any student. This is the same report that teachers can access in Reports>CrystalReports,inGradebook2.

School-Wide Information

School-Wide > Distribution of Grades

View the distribution of First Quarter grades.

School-Wide > Grades for a Course

View the current Quarter grades for any English or Language Arts class.

School-Wide > Missing and Outdated Grades

This function will let you know when the last time a teacher has entered new grades in for a student/class. Choose All Teachers and set the Grades modified before date to 2 weeks ago. (This may take a few minutes to process).



School-Wide > Overwritten Grades

This report will tell you which teachers and for which students a 9-weeks, semester, or yearly grade has been overwritten.

GetthereportforthisQuarter Choose the option to Display all student names.

Create Groups for Monitoring Grades and/or Attendance.

Note: This set up is a fantastic way for AP’s, counselors, coaches and ESEstafftotrackaspecifiedgroup’sperformance.

School-Wide > Edit/Create/Delete a Group of Students. This is a static group and might require updating.

Create a group, “FCAT Level 1” and include 10 or more students.

Create the group, “Football team,” and include all members of the team. If you do not have a football team at your school, please create a club or a group for a counselor to monitor. Notes: ____________________________________________

Creating Dynamic Groups School-Wide > Edit/Create/Delete Dynamic Group of Students. This group automatically adjusts based on criteria set.

Create the dynamic group, “______GradeGirls.”

This one will be tricky because MDCPS data combines ethnicity with gender.

School-Wide >Grades for a Group

View the First Quarter grades for group that has been created.



School-Wide >Students with Failing Grades

Find out if any of the students in a group have a ‘D’ or an ‘F’ in 1st 9-weeks.

School-Wide > Honor Roll Students

View the list of all students with an ‘A’ average in the 1st 9-weeks.

Discipline Incidents

Discipline entered by a teacher or administrator greatly increases the amount of information that can be used for behavioral decision making. It should be understood that this system does not replace referrals but enhances them.

Discipline > Edit Location Discipline > Edit Actions Discipline > Edit Types

View each list and add one or more new one to each.



Discipline >Enter a New Discipline Incident

Enter an incident of your own choosing. DO NOT choose “Submit” at this time.

Discipline > Search for a Discipline Incident

Search for an incident report. Note the different ways a search can be peformed.
