Father’s Day Stall This week we had three very dedicated parents organise our Annual Father’s Day Stall. I would like to pass on a huge thankyou to Mrs Vicki Sullivan, Mrs Kim Fowles and Mrs Kerrie Twite for volunteering their time to provide the opportunity for the children to buy their dad and or grandfather a nice gift for Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day to all of our dads and grandads at KPS !

Michael’s Supa IGA Community Rewards Program Yesterday, Year 6 students Curtis Gardener, Gracie Barlow and Harrison Clark travelled with me to the Leongatha RSL to attend the annual Big Cheque Presentation. Thank you to the many Korumburra PS families who regularly use their tag to earn points for our school. We received a cheque for $1500 which was down slightly on last year’s total. We were again one of the highest earning schools involved in the program. We also had discussions with Michael Lorenz (Managing Director / Owner) about how we can grow our donation as well as how they could support some of our special projects we have planned! One good tip for everyone is that you can take a photo of your Reward Points Bar Code and that can be scanned in the shop. This is a real handy tip in the event that you forget your tag. Thank you to Michael’s IGA for their continued support of K.P.S. and a reminder that September and October are double points months! Let us see how much we can raise!
(Continued from page 1) Year 4 Camp On Wednesday afternoon, our Year 4 students returned from their 3-day camp. For those that have not been to Allambee it is a beautiful place set in the hills near Yarragon with a great environment and excellent facilities to explore, as well as challenge the students in a variety of outdoor adventures. Billy carts are always popular as is the giant swing and abseil wall. The students, parents and staff had a marvellous time. Thanks you to the staff and the parent volunteers for organising and attending the camp. Our next newsletter will contain more reports and photos.

Senior Department News
Recently in the Senior school we have been putting our inquisitive minds to the test. Backed up by Mr Eddy and Science Week, the Year Fives and Sixes have been incorporating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) into the classroom. The Year Fives worked eagerly to examine the effect of mixing water with aspirin in a small space, the result being exploding film canisters all over the senior building. The Year Sixes challenged themselves to create a marble run that forced a marble to zig-zag across a desk as many times as
possible. The result being FUN!
In Maths, both Years Five and Six have been looking at number patterns and algebra. Exploring the use of pro numerals when working with formulas and solving contextual problems. Writing has been awash with Narratives, Retells, Explanations and News Reports. Students have
used Big Writes and Cold Writes to hone their skills and have produced some exceptional published pieces.
The Year Sixes are excited for their impending Korumburra Secondary College Transition, having just met with some staff to discuss the transition program that runs from Tuesday to Wednesday on the last week of term. In addition, the end of year yearbook is beginning to take
shape, with Year Six students starting to gather memories and complete articles from this year and their entire time here at KPS.
What a term it has been!
