Term 1 Week 5 W A L A W A A N I N J I N D I W A A N Principal Report Term 1 Week 10 2019 WHAT WAS SO GREAT THIS WEEK We are all in for a treat next week at the Art Attack exhibition in the school hall. As I have made my way around the school this week popping my head into a number of the classrooms I have been seeing some really wonderful artworks being produced. We have some really creative, talented and skillful artists in our school. There are so many different styles of art being represented that our exhibition is sure to be a fantastic success. Thanks to Mrs Garin and the class teachers for all your hard work in putting this event together and giving our students the chance to shine, showing off their talents. GET ACTIVE ‘Wellbeing’ is one part of our school’s strategic direction for the next 2 years. As a part of this we are promoting the benefits of getting active and making it a part of children’s everyday routines. There will be many different initiatives being run at school, throughout the year, that are aimed at making sure our kids are being active enough. One of those activities is a fitness challenge I am putting together for all students to get involved with. It’s called ‘Miss Doyle’s 20 second challenge.’ Last year we did the 40 second challenge and all the students got involved and were very motivated and positive about joining in, I am tweaking it slightly this year to keep things interesting. Parents you are more than welcome to join in and take on the challenge next term at home with your kids. There is nothing more motivating for our kids than the idea of being able to beat the adults, especially the Principal! So keep an eye out in the newsletter and I’ll keep you posted each week with what our challenge will be. END OF TERM Well I can’t quite believe how fast the time has gone, it has been a slightly longer (11 weeks) action packed term and our last week, next week, is proving to be the biggest of them all. We are finishing off with a bang. We have the Art Attack exhibition early in the week, School Disco mid week and finishing off with the colour run at the end of the week. Then everyone will get 2 weeks holiday to recover and recuperate ready for term 2.

IT’S ALWAYS HARD TO SAY GOODBYE It is with much sadness in my heart that I have to let everyone know that our beloved Mr King will be leaving our school at the end of this term. He has been successful through merit selection in gaining an Assistant Principal position at Milton Public School and will be starting there at the beginning of term 2. We are very happy for him as it will mean he is closer to home and have the chance for some quality time with his family but we are all devastated to be losing such an amazingly inspiring teacher who has been with us for the last 9 years. He leaves an enduring legacy of positivity and enthusiasm that will live on in all the teachers he has worked with and mentored over the years. We wish him nothing but success and good fortune in all his endeavours and we know that Milton are very lucky to be getting such a wonderful person at their school.

Belinda Doyle (Principal)

Thought for the week. They may forget what you said but they will not forget how you made them feel

Goodbye from Mr King

I just wanted to write to let Sanctuary Point Public and it’s community know how much this school means to me and how much I have enjoyed my 9 years working here. I have made friendships that will last me the rest of my life and have created memories teaching students at this school that I will never forget. Thanks mostly to the kids at Sanctuary Point who make turning up at SPPS every day fun. No other school does it like Sanctuary Point Public School. I will miss this school more than I can explain, however I’m also excited about taking on the next challenge of Assistant Principal at Milton Public School.

Thanks again and goodbye.
