News at Central PRINCIPAL: Michael Fisher
Welcome back everyone to another awesome week of
learning at Broken Hill Public School as we continue to inspire,
show integrity and inclusion for all.
I hope all the Mums had a relaxing day for Mother’s Day on
Sunday and were suitably spoilt.
It was terrific to have many of our Mums, Grandmas, Nannas
and Carers join us for a great breakfast last Friday morning. A
huge thanks to the SRC and Staff for organising, cooking,
serving, etc. The Central Community at its best.
School Photos
Wednesday 22nd May (next week) is School Photo Day and
order forms are being sent home with this week’s newsletter.
We ask that children are dressed in their school uniform
including black shoes and the school jumper. Any hair ties for
the girls need to be black or white.
Thank you for ensuring the children continue to look their best at
school.
NAPLAN
This week our Year 3 and 5 students are involved in the NAPLAN
assessments starting today with Language Conventions and
Writing. Wednesday is the Reading assessment and finishing on
Thursday with Numeracy. We hope the children get a good
night sleep and have a good breakfast each morning. These
are good habits to have for every day.

Uniform
As the weather is starting to cool, it is an opportune time to remind families about uniform.
It is often in cooler weather we start to see a variety of colours creep in especially pants
and jumpers. We urge that correct school uniform be worn at all times.
The wearing of the uniform provides a sense of identity and a sense of belonging in our
school community. It also provides an opportunity to build school spirit and awesomeness.
School uniforms can be purchased from the uniform shed at a very reasonable price with
some second hand items being sold very cheap.
We thank you for helping our students to look and feel awesome.
Yours in Education

🍎🍎VOLUNTEERS MOST WELCOME 🍎🍎
Friday, 17th May
We are excited to be taking part in the
2019 Woolworths Earn & Learn
program.
During the previous campaign, we
were able to purchase some great
resources with the points we earned,
thanks to you.
From May 1st 2019 until June 25th 2019, you can collect stickers at Woolworths that go
towards Earn & Learn points. For every $10 you spend at Woolworths (excluding the
purchase of tobacco, liquor and gift cards), you will receive a sticker. These stickers can
then be given to your children to collect on a special sticker sheet. Once it is completed,
they can simply bring it back here to school or you can drop them into your local
Woolworths collection box.
The more points we earn, the more we can redeem from a choice of over 10,000
educational resources including mathematics and English resources, art & crafts
materials and much, much more!
We are grateful for your support and look forward
to a successful program. If you have any
questions, please ask at School.
