ABSENT DATA 2013 ENROLMENTS Do you have a child who will turn 5 by April 30th next

year? If so the child is eligible to start school and now is the time to enrol. Please contact the school on 9366 2071 so that enrolment package can be sent home and to make an appointment to meet with me to discuss your child’s start to school life. We will be conducting an orientation program at the beginning of term 4 so it is important to enrol now so that we can include your child in this program.

School Volunteers To volunteer in a school or attend excursions you

need to have a Working with Children Check. If

you are helping out and have not yet had this check can you please contact the office so that we can assist with this process?

Only parents with Working with Children Checks

will be allowed to assist at excursions and volunteer their time. Please see Sylvia Bergin in the office for a copy of the application form.

Have a great week everyone Anne- Maree Kliman Principal

Mali In My School Project

Our school has kindly had a mini sculpture of Mali the

Elephant donated to us by VicSuper as part of Zoos

Victoria's Mali In My School project. Fifty schools across Victoria have received mini Mali sculptures to

decorate this term as part of the project. There are also fifty large Mali sculptures that will be decorated

by various artists and displayed around the city.

As part of our Asian Studies this term the 3/4's will decorate our Mali with an Indian theme. The finished

product will be displayed at the Melbourne Zoo during September and October. For more information on the

project you can visit http://www.zoo.org.au/mims

HOUSE ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Come and see our budding Olympians compete on the big

stage. We will be holding our House Athletics Carnival

next Thursday, the 23rd of August on the school oval. All

children in Years 3 – 6 will be participating in a variety of

athletics events, competing for their House. We are en-

couraging children to come dressed in their house colours

to support their team. Parents are welcome to come along

and watch and provide encouragement for the children.

FABRIC DONATION REQUEST

This term in Grade 3/4 our Inquiry learning is based on Asia Studies – India. One compo-

nent of it is performing a Bollywood Dance for our whole school End of Term Celebrations.

It would be wonderful if members of our school community could donate fabrics so the stu-

dents could put together their costumes. We are especially looking for lengths of fabric 1

metre or longer. Any print type of fabric is fine. Please send all donations to the office of

Room’s 2,4,7 & 8.

Thank you,

Ms. Sophie Stefanidis.
