From the Principal . . . . . . . . . . .
Welcome back to a new term of learning. Our learning will take a few different forms this term, with the aim to transition our students back to full attendance by the start of Term 3. Please give the school a ring if you need further information, as it can get very confusing. There have been a number of differing versions of how Term 2 may look for our school. At this stage, Term 2 will begin as it finished in Term 1 with the majority of NSW students learning from home. Schools will be open and operational for students that need to attend but where practical, parents are encouraged to keep their children at home. Teachers will plan the same learning for students at school and at home. Key dates:
Wednesday 29 April – 8 May 2020: Students learning from home where practical. Monday 11 May: students attend school two days a week and learn from home on the other
days. Please see the letter emailed to all families yesterday included in this newsletter for more information.
The Premier and Minister for Education have announced a phased operating model for NSW schools during COVID-19. The new model will see students being reintroduced to some face-to-face learning on campus starting from Week 3. The phased approach to manage a return to full on campus face-to-face teaching sees students being reintroduced to some face-to-face learning in line with available health advice. The plan is phased, and flexible, allowing the school system to slowly bring schools back to normal while responding quickly to new spikes in transmission if they occur. There are five phases to get us back to full onsite school operations: Phase 0. (Where we currently are), schools are open for families who need it. Phase 1. Students at school at least one day per week. Phase 2. Students at school at least two days per week. Phase 3. Students at school five days per week, with social distancing measures. Phase 4. Students at school five days per week, with full school activities. More information on the new model will be provided to parents and students before Week 3 of Term 2 begins. Classroom Teachers, Learning Support and Intervention staff will contact parents on a regular basis over the next two weeks. Please ask questions and ask for assistance if you or your child requires it. Our student’s education is a priority at the moment and we are here to help if you require it.

School Maintenance As the community has been in isolation, we have been able to undertake a few maintenance projects around the school. These have included:
Two new filtered, cooler water stations (Primary and Infants) for filling student water bottles. Full internal painting and carpet in Mrs van Werven’s and Miss Bradford’s building. Full external painting of the Sac Centre. Full external painting of the Canteen and Learning Hive. Window frame painting of front office windows.
Keep an eye out for further improvement projects being undertaken throughout Term 2. Our school is looking great. Have a great week. Derek Noffke Principal

Dear Students, Parents and Carers, Once again, students are able to participate in the “NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge”. The challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more, and to read more widely. The Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) is available for all NSW students in Kindergarten to Year 6. The PRC started 2nd March, 2020 and students must complete a set amount of reading to meet the challenge by 28th August, 2020. Due to the COVID –19 situation some changes have been made to help support students to participate and complete the Challenge. Students on all levels are able to read 10 choice books. They can also include books that are read collaboratively as a class, in person or online with their teacher or at home with their parent/carers. K – Year 2 20 PRC books plus 10 others Year 3 – Year 4 10 PRC books plus 10 others Year 5 – Year 6 10 PRC books plus 10 others It would be wonderful to see as many of our students as possible participating in the challenge this year. To participate log on at https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/studentExperience.html
Please see me if you have any further questions. Happy reading! Mrs Evans
