Thank you to ALL …
...who had a hand in making Cheryl Davis' ordination day an incredibly special day filled with love, peace and joy!!!!!
There were so many helping hands----it is impossible to name them all! It is truly a gift for PoP to be a part of launching
Cheryl's ministry. We are grateful to she and Horace for sharing their many gifts with us as well, as they prepared for
this new adventure! - Lori Rogers & committee
“First of all, THANK YOU for such a wonderful reception. It was incredible to see all of the work that went into making my ordination a day to remember. There were so many people working together...for us! I simply cannot express how much this meant to me and Horace. Your love and friend-ship are holding us steady right now as we continue to face many changes, many new people, and a very different church culture. It's easy to long for the comfort and familiarity of what we already know, but we know that God has called us, and we know that God does all things well. Please come and visit us at First English whenever you can. If you let us know ahead of time, we'll plan to have lunch with you after the second service. It would be delightful to see you and have time to talk.”
Much love in Christ, Cheryl and Horace
Forward Leaning Faith! We confess that all the good things come from God. One of the best gifts we have is our faith in a life-
giving Savior. Faith is an amazing thing. It is strong like steel, holding us secure during times of great
struggle, and soft like velvet, gently touching the wounded parts of our lives when we are in deepest need.
We, as a congregation, over these past few months have witnessed the power of faith as we have had 6
funerals in 6 weeks, voted to extend a Call to Rev. Jennifer DeNetz to serve as our second pastor, hosted an
Ordination for Cheryl Davis, began our Lenten journey to the cross, and have begun serious planning for our
50th Anniversary as a congregation. All of this happens because we have a faith the leans forward into
God’s future, not trusting in our strength alone.
I thank God for that faith and the vitality of this congregation that has drawn deeply on our faith
during these past several months. We have constantly felt God’s presence and guidance. I want to thank
you for all you have done: fixed meals, presented services, planned receptions and all the things that a body
of believers is called to do. You have made a huge difference for so many lives and we are a better place
and souls have been healed because of us. You have shown truly that we are a family of Christians, who are
connected through a life-giving faith that is bigger, richer and deeper than ourselves and in the process, our
faith has grown.
Joy,
Update on Pastor Jennifer DeNetz: Pastor Jennifer will begin her ministry with us on March 1. She will be at worship on March 6 and will
be installed by Bishop Gerald Mansholt at all services on March 13 with a potluck reception to follow. She is
currently looking to buy a house or condo, which may not be completed before she starts, so she is
preparing to commute from Waupaca for a short time. Now, we are busily getting her office prepared and
look forward to her start. Please keep her in your prayers during this time of transition.

For Pastor Jennifer’s Installation Potluck, members and guests are asked to bring
a dish to pass as follows...last Name starts with:
A - Ha = Salads/Side dishes
He - Ny = Fruit or Veggie trays / Chips ‘n Dips or Salsas/ Finger-foods
O - Z = Desserts
So, Let’s Welcome Pastor Jennifer
PoP Potluck Style! We have all heard the words “good things come
to those who wait,” and for the past eighteen
months we have waited patiently for a new pas-
tor to join us and Pastor Roger, as we continue
“growing in faith and reaching out in love.” The
wait is finally over, and our excitement builds for
March 13 when Pastor Jennifer DeNetz will be officially installed at
PoP during all three worship services. Following our last service, we
will celebrate Pastor Jennifer’s arrival with a delicious luncheon and
good cheer. We hope to show Pastor Jennifer how glad we are to have
her with us, so let’s fill our dining room and extend a warm welcome
to her.

Library Corner “New” Additions to the POP Library
If you like Christian fiction with a mystery twist, check out these recent donations to our church library. Escape to
the charming town of Copper Mill, Tennessee, nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Although a
place of tradition and tranquility, Kate Hanlon and her husband Paul find out that small-town life is anything but
boring. The mysteries Kate uncovers are puzzling but she uses her quick mind and faith to solve life's mysteries in
the Mystery and the Minister's Wife series.
Through the Fire by Diane Noble is the first in the series and sets the stage for the rest of the series’ books. After
reading this one, the rest can be read in whatever order you wish. In this volume, Kate and Paul move to Copper
Mill to take over the pastorate of Faith Briar Church only to arrive and find the church in flames—and it is
determined that it wasn’t accidental. This is the first of many mysteries that Kate will be faced with.
A Matter of Trust, also written by Diane Noble; A State of Grace and Open Arms by Traci DePree; and Beauty Shop
Tales by Beth Pattillo are the volumes added to our collection. If you like Jan Karon’s books, I think you will enjoy
this series.
There are a number of library items that were checked out quite a considerable time ago. Please try and return
books and DVDs in a timely matter. When checking them out make sure to include all the information on the
check out sheet—your name and phone number, the title of the book, both the letters and numbers on the book
spine and the date you are taking the item(s). If young children want to check out books/DVDs please fill out the
information on the sheet for them so we can follow up.

CHILDREN, YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRIES
What is Faith Formation? Faith formation is a process of fellowship, learning
scripture, going to church, and learning where God fits in
each person’s life. Faith is DEVELOPED by rituals like
learning to pray, going to church, receiving a Bible, reading
the Bible, sharing in the meal and giving an offering of
ourselves — not just at church, but in the home and within
interactions with peers, elders and even strangers. We have
given Sunday School a new name – Faith Formation. It is a
lifelong journey that is enriched on Sundays but develops
each day.
Youth Participation Worships on March 6th & 20th On these dates there will be more Youth Participation
Worships. We are looking for youth to usher, read scripture,
share their musical talent and help distribute communion.
We need help at each of the services. To sign up “Click
Here” . You can participate on your own or with your family.
Contact Katie or Gloria at the addresses in the box above if
you have any questions or are interested in participating.
First Communion Families There is much to do this month for the next big step in your
child’s faith journey. Make sure you mark your calendars
with the lesson, art workshop and Paschal Meal times.
Please pay attention to any e-mails with updates and
reminders that will be sent this month. Contact Katie Witt
at 739-5255 or [email protected].
Looking Ahead….
April Youth Group (Gr. 3, 4 & 5) Building Youth Groups @ Imago Dei Village. We are going
away for the weekend of April 22-24. Let’s have some fun
at Crossways camps — $65 per child, camperships
available so cost should not limit you from going. We will
leave Friday from PoP @ 5:15pm and return Sunday
afternoon. There will need to be a few parents to help drive

It’s About the Conversation!
Come join us on
Sunday, April 17th at 9:30 a.m. in the
Congregational Life Room
What if a sudden illness or injury left you unable to speak for yourself?
Who would you want to speak for you?
What would you want them to know about your values and wishes?
But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said,
“Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”
Matthew 14:27 Jesus encourages his followers by telling them to
take “heart” or “courage.” We seek inspiration to
suppress our fears when we have to face illness or
the possibility of death. Scripture reminds us to use
our faith and trust God when we face the unknown.
Many of us don’t know what to do when we or
someone we love has significant health concerns.
One thing we can do is to plan for the unknown, to
give our self and our families the gift of Advanced
Care Planning (ACP). ACP is a process of deciding
what you want to do and do not want for your health
care choices when you can speak for yourself. The
outcome of ACP is a legal document that has
replaced “living wills” in our health care system. The
benefit of ACP is that it communicates our health
care choices to our families, doctors and hospitals.
ACP is a gift we can give ourselves whether we are
18 or 88 because it means we can live peacefully,
knowing our wishes will be carried out. It’s a gift to
our families because they can live with the
assurance that they are carrying out our explicit
choices with our faith values and traditions. It’s a
gift to our health care professionals so they can
know what we want. It’s also a gift to the community because of the courageous conversations that occur Continued on bottom of next page...

...Cont’d from pg 10. when we discuss choices, as well as the beliefs and
values that drive our choices, with people we love. Part of our call at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is
leading an Advance Care Planning ministry. We
encourage these courageous conversations because
we recognize that life could change tomorrow. We
invite you to start a courageous conversation about
your faith values and how they affect your health care
choices. For more information, contact Beth

WITNESS/HELPING HANDS
Let's Stock Up St. Joe's Food Pantry! Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is happy to cooper-
ate with many churches in the Fox Cities on a joint
food pantry. St. Joseph Food Pantry was started in
1982 and weekly distributes 30 tons of fresh food
and non-perishable items to hundreds of men,
women, children, elderly, working poor and unem-
ployed. Through the years they have created an ef-
fective system for churches and local agencies to
cooperate and care of our needy in the Fox Cities.
We are blessed to be a part of this vital network. POP
collects food each
quarter. We ask for
your prayers for
these people in
need.
St. Joe's provides
plastic bags with
suggested food
items printed on it.
Cash gifts will be
used for fresh milk
and other items not
donated.
The Social Concerns Ministry team will hand out
those bags on Sunday, March 13th. Please fill the
bag and return it on Sunday, March 20th. If you can-
not make it to church when bags are passed out,
free to use any bag you have at home. You can leave
the bag in either of the entry ways to the church.
Please give generously to these quarterly gatherings
if you can. Please email Nette Kimball at nettekim-
[email protected] with any questions.
You are invited to join us on
Sunday, May 15th to celebrate
our 50th Anniversary
as we gather together
to praise God for all the work
He has done through the ministry of Prince of Peace.
In honor of this milestone, special worship services
and a luncheon are planned. More information will be
forthcoming in next month’s newsletter &
future announcements.
