During this phase you will perform an upgrade of the P6 EPPM development database and, with it, you will be migrating the P6 EPPM development application servers and its components to the new version. Focus during this phase is on the migration of the customizations you have available to the P6 EPPM application, on the prior release, to the new P6 EPPM repository version, their function testing and deployment for the next phases (P6 EPPM test database upgrades and eventually, P6 EPPM production database upgrade). Areas of Focus:

P4 – Test The goal of the UPGRADE - TEST phase is to migrate to the new version in the Primavera P6 EPPM test, QA or UAT environments. This phase is also important in order to run sandbox upgrades against copies of the P6 EPPM production database. In this way you will be able to verify the P6 EPPM upgrade process against the production data directly and optimize this phase in order to have it fitting in the P6 EPPM production upgrade downtime window. Performance and functionality testing of the upgraded environment will also be performed as part of this phase as well as end user training. Areas of Focus:

Perform System Tests o Functional Testing o Performance Testing o Preparation, Execution and Validation Test Phases

P5 – Implement The goal of the UPGRADE - IMPLEMENT phase is to deploy the new release of Primavera P6 EPPM. During this phase, the focus is on upgrading the live P6 EPPM production database as part of the production downtime window (assuming a high-availability upgrade path is not chosen).
