EARLY YEARS HUB TRAINING
The session will focus on the importance of continuous provision in creating high level impact and learning opportunities in the Early
Years. Participants will be introduced to the theory and will be able to explore the role of the adult in continuous provision.

The session will allow participants to develop their understanding in this area. They will reflect on the adult role and environment in
supporting and extending children’s play, active learning and thinking.

The session will provide participants with a range of simple and practical ideas to manage difficult or disruptive behaviour. It will focus
on the importance of understanding the children and their backgrounds, proven strategies and creating rules and routines.
Thursday 1st February 2018 1.30 – 3.30am @The Hub
The session will provide participants with the opportunity to improve their knowledge and understanding of phonics. Participants will take
away a bank of practical activities and ideas to make phonics fun and a range of strategies to help support early reading and writing.

The session focuses on practitioners’ understanding of Maths and how it can be effectively promoted in the classroom. It will also give you
the opportunity to actively engage in practical mathematical activities to further develop quality planning and assessment opportunities.

A creative and interactive fun workshop that will empower Early Years Practitioners to create an environment that allows children to become
creative and critical thinkers. It is designed for all Early Years practitioners.

It focuses on ideas to reduce marking without impacting on learning.

This practical session will explore ways of using drama techniques in a range of subject areas. The key theme is how to use drama to develop
both spoken and written language across Key Stage 1 and 2.

“Great lessons should be making learners want to ask questions.”This session will provide practitioners with a range of proven
techniques and ideas on using questions to encourage and extend children's thinking for different learning needs and situations.

This session will explore exactly what is meant by challenge and participants will have the opportunity to apply this definition to their
own context. All of the strategies shared are from the very latest evidence based research.

This session is based on research by Professor Carol Dweck and focuses on helping pupils and staff to develop a ‘Growth Mindset’ in order to raise motivation and achievement. It includes an evaluation tool and a 6 week programme for you to implement back at school.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS FOR NEW AND ASPIRING MIDDLE LEADERS
This programme is designed for teachers moving into middle leadership. It will analyse the role of a middle leader in primary education and help to develop leadership skills.
Module 1: Developing coaching skills (Friday 15 September 2017)• What is coaching? What do good coaches do?
Module 2: Learning to lead yourself (Friday 29 September 2017)• A values driven approach
Module 3: The leadership toolbox (Friday 3 November 2017)• Developing your leadership knowledge and skills

Since 2012, over 2,000 Teaching Assistants and support staff have attended our Effective Classroom Support programme which has been quality assured by CUREE (Centre for the Use of Research and Evidence in Education). The programme is designed for experienced or new Teaching Assistants and all other classroom support staff, including classroom volunteers. The sessions focus on how Teaching Assistants and support staff can develop their knowledge of the classroom environment and provides them with a range of practical skills to improve pupils’ learning.
This course covers the following areas:• Ensuring high standards and expectations• Managing behaviour and for learning• Challenge and questioning• Assessment and feedback• Learning conversations• Promoting independence

Our Core Four network sessions are facilitated by Specialist Leaders of Education who are experts in their field. The content of each session covers current issues and addresses personal needs.
The meetings support subject leaders and co-ordinators of the four National Curriculum core subjects – Maths, English, Science and Computing. These leaders may be experienced or new to the role.
Each subject network meeting is held termly. The Autumn term dates are listed below.
