Q1, 2012CHRIS DOMINGUEZCHRIS DOMINGUEZ

Chris, rarely a day goes by that someone either inside or outside our division tells me how wonderful, helpful, great you are! And they’re right! BTW – can you please fill out a super certificate form for yourself? I’ll sign it!

Chris was slammed first quarter, but it didn’t crush him – rather it was

a slam dunk!

Always a positive attitudeAlways a greeting in the morning and evening before he leavesAlways a big smileAlways helpfulAlways super organizedAlways extremely professionalAlways a team player

Along with his usual duties which he excels at, he is a master with the budgets.

Chris successfully planned and executed all of the logistics for our 2-day President’s Awards event including travel for the Orlando folks. Then, within a week or two he handled all of the logistics for the Strategic Planning Team meeting, AND Sun Sentinel’s Advertising Annual O’Donnell Awards Presentation. He keeps me on my toes!

Q1, 2012With Vacation Starter Kery rolled into 2012 and entered into her new role of Project Manager and immediately took on the beast we refer to as VacationStarter.com. Results: Total of 1100 entries into contest. With Single and Mingle event, Ticket sales reached 400+, with an incredible 390 in full attendance. A win:win. AND…

Editorial investigative series: Cops above the Law! promo plan to push one of our editorial investigative series entitled “Above the Law” *

And as a final note:

Another VERY important note about Kery is her COMPLETE PARTICIPATION

with process and teamwork. A joke within the department is at any given moment Kery most likely has a folded copy

of our “creative process” in her back pocket. She holds true to it with

every project she opens, she questions it along the way looking for ways to

improve and is personally spent the most time test

driving our proposed new project management

system, Active Collab

In short, Kery’s role completely changed in the birth of the new Strategic Marketing power department. She has a new manager, she had to learn new skills, take on new challenges, introduce herself to new departments, etc. These few things listed are just a few larger standouts that she tackled in full swing of never deterring from any of her other projects, responsibilities, etc.

* Story received national attention on CBS This Morning TV show on 3/20, and also on their website

What better to wrap up Kery trifecta then with Speeding cops

Q1, 2012

she has spent countless extra hours scouring the

internet and reaching out to experts to take our page from 48 to

almost 3,000 followers, a 6150% increase. She has created engaging contests and content,

consistently responds to our viewers even at night and on the weekend, and with each promotion she has taken it to the next level. One of Joann’s key accomplishments

was to have a contest platform built internally that forces the like for participation and signups

for SunSentinel.com.

Joann’s customer focus is outstanding she consistently goes above and beyond to meet the needs of the sales team and the station. A great example of this is when they recently asked if we could incorporate hurricane tips into a sponsorship package for clients. Not only did Joann say yes but also she brainstormed new names for the tips and a way to repackage them to fit our brand while still maintaining the integrity of this important information. Chip stated, “Here is Joann taking a simple redo of produced hurricane tips and taking it to ANOTHER level- ALWAYS thinking!”

Joann’s commitment to our digital growth/innovation is inspirational.

One of the biggest things she accomplished that really kick started our efforts was to reactivate the Morning Show’s twitter followers. This was no easy task as we did not

have the login info and no one from twitter was returning our emails but she did not give up until she got the account back*.

Digital growth/innovationGrow/create revenue streams

Maintain/grow audience

*This gave the station an instant audience of over 2,000 followers plus in the first week she added over a 100 more.

Some of the Olympic events they are participating in include:

the U.S. womens Weightlifting Team. Yes – it’s true.

In the past, our team has always experienced fluctuations in workload based on the time of year. Holidays and summer tend to be slow, but January brings a renewed energy among the reps. We experienced that renewed energy with an onslaught on requests back in January but thanks perhaps to an uptick in the economy, there has been no fluctuation in workload since.

And, these two athletes standing next to me have been performing in a near herculean capacity doing all the heavy lifting - juggling priorities and projects with no reprieve, putting together sales collateral and presentations at lightning speed.

Thank God they sit next to each other, because they work as a team taking projects from each other as needed, sharing materials already created, bouncing strategies off each other and managing to meet all the needs of the sales teams despite the incredible load.

Q2, 2012DAVID CHIARI DAVID CHIARI

Yes – his support of WSFL has rendered him almost godlike in the eyes of WSFL reps and

managers. Dave manages to single-handedly

produce all of the WSFL sales presentations and collateral and provide an endless supply of reports requested by

the sales managers. And, if that isn’t enough, he looks for ways to take the presentations to a new level, teaching himself tools, such as Sliderocket, that give them a certain sizzle.

Per Marilyn Hansen, Dave won the Q2 WSFL pride

award “based on his utilization of research to put together powerful

presentations for SFLTV. He has a great attitude and provides

tremendous team support”.

There are plenty of famous Dave’s in the world. Dave Matthews, Dave Chappelle, and Wendy’s own Dave Thomas...but here in Strategic Marketing, none are as popular as our own Dave Chiari!

Yes, the very mention of his name brings a smile to our faces. Why? Perhaps it is his smile which you can always depend on, or his easy-going nature that brings calm to a stressful situation, or his almost bold confidence that truly gives the reps the assurance they need to go get the sale.

In recent months, Dave has had clients telling him that his presentation was the best they have seen.

MEGAN SULLIVAN

Page 9: Pride Awards 2012

Q2, 2012Two major presentations

that people are still talking about are the Sun Rail and HBA. But

she has worked on more than just presentations.

She has worked with Jean’s group on the South Florida.com project developing

copy and tag lines, she heavily involved with the values campaign writing and concepting and she is working with Reagan on writing teasers for the digital day-parting

campaign.

When Megan first came here she seemingly had some big shoes to fill. I’m pretty sure that by the end of her first week, if she heard the phrase “Well, Dan did it this way..”. I was going to get a call from HR because she walloped someone. In very short order the digital team she supports saw the expertise she has, the creativity she provides and the dedication she employs and don’t know what to do if she isn’t at her desk when they call or come buy. Just a couple of weeks ago, a territory rep told me that she had worked on a presentation her and it was better than the one “What’s his name” did. I said “dan” and she said “yeah, that guy”.

Everyone knows what PRIDE stands “Officially” stands for, Well when it comes to this award winner, it stands for all that and

- Powerful presentations - Ridiculously creative - Interactively oriented - Detailed Driven - Engaging Everyday - And she can sing too.

For all of that, and putting up with me (Al), I

want to say thank you and a well earned

congratulations!

Extra Hours: Isle Casino promotion & Image Shoots

Image Shoot: went above and beyond planning the image shoot. He handled the whole thing from start to finish and he put in a lot of extra hours on top of the shooting days to make sure everything would go smoothly.

Image Spots: when the footage was lost. He immediately came up with a back-up image idea and came in nights and weekends to shoot it so that it would be ready for November Sweep.

Radio: came up with some super creative and targeted radio spots. Even though he had multiple creatives he had another great idea and put it in motion too.

Coverage: When the CS Manager had to unexpectedly be out of the office and our agency needed materials ASAP he quickly figured it out and delivered everything in time.

Bob and Joann, “Wonder Twins powers activate!” And in a flash SFL-TV was saved. The dynamic duo used their extraordinary powers to rework our image campaign in the final hours, knocked out a huge radio campaign with multiple creatives, put together a bunch of successful events, spread the word on the social media front, and all the while kept our clients, sales, and management happy.

Reduced staff, few to no resources, more commitments, lost footage…

Fall launch appeared to be doomed.

Social Media: regularly puts in time on nights and weekends to Facebook / tweet about our shows

Emily Owens Advanced Screenings: envisioned and executed 2 successful showings including getting a

sponsor to provide food for the events

Guerilla Marketing: hooked up with the Sun Sentinel for a pep rally and took our Arrow

promotional flyers to key business

Coverage: When the CS Manager had to unexpectedly be out of the office and

there was an on-air issue that she had not been trained in Joann jumped in and got it resolved.

Q3, 2012Even though you’d never be able to

read it on his face, Felix has an amazing

enthusiasm and passion for his

work. This really came to light with

the print and online campaigns for

SouthFlorida.com. Felix worked many

late nights...

FELIX TIRADOFELIX TIRADOFelix is the kind of guy who knows EVERYBODY. You need something? Felix knows a guy. If I needed a new o ring for a 1963 Fiat Spyder, Felix would say “I know somebody”. Well, I feel the same way when someone approaches me with a design problem. I just respond with, “I know a guy”. Felix is THAT guy.

... even setting up photo shoots in his house to make sure that the ads would be perfect.

Thanks for all you do every day, and

congratulations on your PRIDE award.

Q3, 2012TRACY BREYTRACY BREY

Tracy is provides insightful analysis using tools such as consumer point – something that has never been used on the team before. She also regularly goes with the reps when they pitch because she makes sometimes very detailed strategy (which she – not the rep has developed) into something easily understood – even by car dealers. She is more than just a strategist to the teams she supports, she is often their sales planner, trainer and account manager.

Tracy Brey deserves a Q3 Marketing Pride award Even though Tracy is the newest strategist on the team, she has overcome a list of challenges. No house & living with her in-laws in 40 miles from the office. Her kids getting to Orlando one week before school starts. And the reason she won the award fielding a call from a rep saying that they needed a 1 day turn around presentation because a client has pulled all their money – 18 grand a month or over 215,000 annually. Tracy pulled all their sales information, did a deep analysis of where they were selling, who their customer is & where their potential lies. She developed the strategy of how to overcome the dealer’s reasons for pulling and a strategy to help them be more efficient. When the dealer gave them an appointment, it turned out the rep was on vacation - so Tracy even gave the presentation with the manager and they saved the account

For all of this and not making me deal with Frank Doria – I congratulate you

Tracy, you deserve it!

Q4, 2012

Wendy really developed the entire look and feel of every aspect of our digital access marketing push, and every time we switched focus, or copy, or design direction – Wendy rolled with the punches and always delivered effective results.

The Container Store was

another amazing example of how Wendy

throws herself into projects. She devoured

everything she could find about

the client and even built the

presentation out of their own products...

...The customer was so impressed that they paid to have the presentation

Q4, 2012JOANN LEGERJOANN LEGER

I must admit that never in a million years did I think that we would find our next designer in our Co-op department*, and I’m happy to say that I couldn’t have been more wrong. Joann has proven to be an amazing asset to our team, and I only have time to talk about a few examples:

Thanksgiving promotion: Joann handled what is probably our most challenging internal client from BOTH properties as this project went from one set of creative to totally different campaigns. Setting up a makeshift photo studio in a cubicle and shooting what must’ve been a hundred photos to get the perfect shot...

...Holiday campaign: This monster of a project received a complete design overhaul courtesy of Joann. She showed her endless patience with all of the design and copy changes and always with a smile.OMGfast: Joann held her own mini

focus groups in order to nail the creative for this at risk client

and created what I think was her first spadea to seal the deal.
