In preparation for Assessment 2, you will develop a draft response and assessment plan.

You need to identify key legal issues, the relevant legal authority, and a summary of the law

you intend to apply in resolving the issue.

Assessments Assessment 2 – Research-based hypothetical assignment (30%)

Based on a “real world” commercial law problem, you will provide a critical analysis and detailed

response.

Your assessment will be based on the plan presented in the first assessment, and incorporate the

feedback received.

Same question as Assessment 1 with specific instructions provided to complete Assessment 2.

Assessments Assessment 3 – Final exam (50%)

This final exam will assess the skills and knowledge you have gained during the course and how

you apply them in an exam scenario.

The exam is under observation (proctored) fully online, using ProctorU software. You will receive

instructions regarding technology requirements, how to schedule your initial hardware test, and

how to schedule your final exam during the specified times. It is important you follow these

instructions.

Learning outcomes After successfully completing this course you should be able to:

1. Appreciate how the law developed historically; where to find relevant law; how

the legal system works to enable the provision of correct advice and to resolve

legal disputes

2. For a given contracting, consumer law, tortious or partnership problem,

identify the relevant legal issues and apply relevant law to resolve the problem

3. Defend your application of the law and reasoned conclusion(s) in the face of

professional and/or academic scrutiny

reasoned conclusion through oral and written communication and the capacity

to synthesise key principles relating to corporations law and utilise these

principles to factual situations in order to achieve a reasoned conclusion

6. Analyse and evaluation case law relevant to the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth)
