General Information

As one of the World’s leading provider of large motors with Global service and support second to none, Siemens sells and manufactures a complete line of motors at the ISO-9001 Certified Norwood, OH plant. This 350,000 square foot facility has produced over 150,000 high voltage motors continuously since 1898. The Norwood plant offers horizontal AC squirrel-cage induction motors through 18,000 horsepower and voltage ranges from 460 through 13200 volts. The plant also manufactures a complete line of vertical motors. Larger induction motors as well as wound rotor and synchronous motors are also available from other Siemens plants located in Germany. The following pages covers horizontal induction motors through 5000HP. It is intended for use in pricing the more common ratings, enclosures and modifications. Special features or applications which could affect frame size and, therefore seriously impact cost and price, should be referred to factory for price and availability. Ratings that fall outside those covered in this book, as well as all vertical motors, should also be referred to factory for pricing and availability.

General Information

All ratings in this price guide are designed for the following; Horizontal Mounting 3 phase Class F insulation Service factor of 1.0 Maximum temperature rise of 80 degrees C by resistance at 1.0 service factor Maximum 40 degrees C ambient Altitude of 3300 feet or less Direct connection to a typical centrifugal load with rated voltage and frequency applied at the

motor terminals and a load inertia value equal to or less than NEMA value for the rating. Also, during accelerating period, connected load torque shall be equal to, or less than, a torque which varies as square of the speed and is equal to 100% of full-load torque at rated speed.

Frame sizes are estimated and are subject to change without notice. Frame sizes may have a suffix or combination of suffixes dependent upon enclosure, bearings, and/or features;

D = Flanged. Indicates that motor is to be supplied with a D-flanged bearing housing. S = Short shaft. Indicates motor is to be supplied with Siemens standard short shaft extension for

direct connection except on 680 frame series where no suffix is used. Y = Special mounting. Indicates motor is to be supplied with non-standard mounting dimensions. Z = Special shaft. Indicates motor is to be supplied with non-standard or special shaft dimensions. No Suffix = Indicates that motor is to be supplied with a Siemens standard long shaft extension

except on 680 & 800 frame series. The long shaft is provided if Belt Drive modification is made from the Modification & Accessories Section.

Some 680 frame ratings can be supplied with grease lubricated ball bearings. Refer exact requirements to factory for price and availability. Lead Times will be per the latest issue of the Norwood Product Lead Times document ANMC- 70000-xxxx.

Meets or exceeds industry standards for NEMA WP-type machines. Best suited for indoor applications where not exposed to extreme ambient conditions. Available through 10,000 HP.

Horizontal Drip Proof / Weather Protected II (Type CGII) / IC01 / IP24

Meets or exceeds industry standards for NEMA WPII-type machines. Specifically designed for outdoor applications where motor is not likely to be protected by other structures. Available through 18,000 HP.

Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (Type CZ, CGZ, 1LA4) / IC411 / IP54-IP55

Designed for indoor and outdoor applications where internal parts must be protected from adverse ambient conditions. Utilizes cooling fins on all four quadrants of yoke and housings. Available through 3,000 HP.

Totally Enclosed Air-to-Air Cooled (Type CAZ) / IC611 / IP54

Designed for indoor and outdoor applications where internal parts must be protected from adverse ambient conditions. Utilizes air-to-air tube-type heat exchangers. Available through 14,000 HP.

Machine Readable Product Description (MRPD) Structure

Siemens Norwood AboveNEMA motors has adopted the Machine-Readable Product Designation structure (MRPD). These designations, which are very similar in structure to those used by many other Siemens Business Units, will provide a clear means of product designation. The benefits of adopting the MRPD codes include:

1) Consistent communication between regional organizations, field sales personnel and the business unit

2) Improved processes within Norwood 3) Enables smoother transition into product standardization 4) Provides a basis for product lead-times

The MRPD structure is generated by two segments:

1) Product codes - 12 Alpha-numeric characters which define: Enclosure Frame-size Motor speed (Number of poles) Rotor construction Voltage / Frequency Type of construction (horizontal, vertical, flange-mounted, etc)

2) Option codes - Standard accessories The next several pages describe the Product Code structure for;

Modular (ODP/WPI, WPII, TEAAC and TEWAC enclosures) machines. TEFC machines.

In the Modifications and Accessories Section, you will find the Option Codes and Categories listed. It is important that these codes, both Product and Options, are clearly indicated on the orders. The Categories, explained in more detail later, are listed as the minimum category for the given option. The base motor category or other options with higher categories may impact the overall category of the motor. The highest category will dictate the applicable lead-time of the motor.

This specification addresses motor requirements on TEFC, anti-friction bearing motors through 500 HP. The Basic List Prices in the following tables include special features of this specification which are but not limited to;

General Comments to IEEE 841- 2009 All proposals to must contain the following comments in addition to any other applicable comments and/or exceptions already taken and depending upon the quotation request;

1. Para 6.8: Taking exception to 90 dbA sound power level. Quoting typical sound pressure level in dBA as measured per NEMA MG1, Part 9 at 3 feet and at no load. Consult factory for lower noise options.

2. Para 8.0: The minimum and nominal full load efficiencies per Table 2 are based upon efficiency evaluation per

IEEE 112-2004, Methods E1 or F1 with assumed stray load loss.

Include Comment 3 if space heaters are quoted as a base feature or option 3. Para. 11.b: Taking exception and quoting space heaters with 160 deg. C maximum sheath temperature. Modifications & Accessories

Adjustable Speed Drives (Except any TEFC Enclosure or any 2-pole in a 6813 frame*)

The MRPD designation for motors used with ASDs is indicated in the motor’s basic MRPD structure. Refer to the Section 1, Part MRPD for more details. Motors to be used with filtered VFDs and are 4:1 VT or are 2:1 CT have a minimum base Category 1.

*Any rating in a TEFC enclosure or any 2-pole ratings in any enclosure in a 6813 frame are not suitable for use with an ASD application. Refer to your local Siemens Sales representative for price and availability. Motors driven from an adjustable frequency control power source are subject to harmonics caused by non-sinusoidal wave shapes and voltage spikes. These may result in increased heating, decreased torque capability, and excessive shaft voltages; therefore, standard motor designs may not be suitable. Refer exact requirements including application (variable or constant torque), details of speed range, and type of inverter being used to your local Siemens Sales representative for price and availability.

Policy Statement IGBT/BRG Siemens Norwood AC Induction Motors IGBT Control Induced Bearing Currents

Siemens has had considerable, successful experience operating motors in the field in applications that utilize IGBT-type adjustable frequency controls. Throughout the industry, however, a few variable frequency control applications and installations have been shown to produce currents in the bearings of motors they control. Siemens Drives and Siemens Systems groups have the expertise and experience necessary to ensure the your installation is configured such that problem-free operation is attained. However, when Siemens motors are to be used with controls manufactured other companies, we defer system configuration details to that control manufacturer. If the application is such that a problem due to bearing currents could potentially occur then one of the following solutions should be implemented with the motor and control system; a) Use of a control output filter that reduces common mode voltage and the motor non-drive

end bearing should be insulated. b) For 500 frame and larger motors in non-hazardous locations, insulate the drive end and

non-drive end bearing and add a shaft grounding brush. Unless the grounding brush is provided on the motor drive end, an insulated coupling must be utilized to protect non-insulated bearings in the load equipment.

IV. Comments, Exceptions & Clarifications to API 547 - 2005 1. General: The pricing offered is for the base motor including Siemens standard routine (unwitnessed) testing. 2. Para 1.2.a: Motors are quoted for 0 to 40oC as standard. Oil sump heaters should be added for self-lube applications

below 0oC. 3. Para 1.2.c: Motors are not suitable for offshore or severe corrosive duty as standard. Motor paint is Siemens standard if

not otherwise specified. 4. Para 2.1.2: Refer to the Section V. Noise Levels for API 547 – 2005 and make the appropriate exception per Note 1. 5. 5. Para 2.2.2.3: Motor design is based on a 100% Square Curve which means the connected load torque varies as the

square of the speed and is equal to 100% of the rated full load torque of the motor at rated speed. This is subject to change upon receipt and review of load information.

Belt Drive Applications Motors to be used on belt drive applications have a larger shaft extension diameter and length than direct drive motors and have a roller bearing on the drive end. Motors with a ball bearing on the drive end should not be used on belt drive applications. Conversely, it is not recommended that motors with a roller bearing on the drive end be direct driven as excessive noise may occur. The chart indicates the minimum sheave diameters in inches recommended for belt drive motors in 500 and 580 frames. The adder can only be made to the ratings listed in the chart. Load Inertia The table below lists load inertia values which our standard, polyphase motors can accelerate without injurious temperature rise under the following conditions: 1. Rated voltage and frequency applied at the motor terminals. 2. During accelerating period, connected load torque shall be equal to, or less than, a torque which varies as

square of the speed and is equal to 100% of full-load torque at rated speed. 3. Two successive starts with motor at ambient temperature, or one start with motor not exceeding rated

temperature. Subsequently, the number of permissible starts will depend upon the time required to accelerate the load from stand still to full speed, the thermal capacity of the motor, and the time required for the motor temperature to return to rated temperature after each such start.

Stator - Insulation/Treatments Generally, most low voltage motors have random wound coils with a polyester varnish type insulation. All motors 2300 volt and above have form wound stator coils with Siemens’ standard VPI insulation system. For form wound 460 volt system, use list price and frame of comparable 2300 volt rating. Performance data may vary slightly from published data. All insulation systems are class F, non-hygroscopic and are supplied with EPDM rubber lead cable. Because of some environmental conditions, additional stator treatments are available. Routine Test Each motor is given a routine test in accordance with ANSI C50.41, NEMA MG1-12 and/or MG1-20 to assure that it is free from electrical and mechanical defects. Included in the test are; Measurement of resistance of winding. Measurement of no load, current, power, and speed at rated voltage and frequency. Insulation resistance. High potential test per NEMA MG1-20. Mechanical balance and vibration per NEMA MG1-7.

Complete Test Complete test per NEMA MG1-20 and test analysis includes; Routine test. Determination of efficiency at full, 3/4, and 1/2 loads. Determination of power factor at full, 3/4, and 1/2 loads. Temperature run by either dual frequency method or by direct load. Locked rotor current curve. This is done at reduced voltage to prevent thermal damage to motor. Determination of locked rotor and breakdown torques.

Sound Pressure Test Test procedure in accordance with NEMA MG1 part 9.

Bearing Temperature Test To determine the stabilized bearing temperature at no load. If a minimum test duration time is required, specify on order.

Speed-Torque and Speed-Current Curves Test To provide curves of torque versus speed and input current versus speed at specified input voltages.

Polarization Index Test Polarization in accordance with IEEE 45.

Efficiency Test – Segregated Loss Method (E1) This test is an efficiency test and analysis in full accord with IEEE 112, Method E1.

Efficiency Test – Equivalent Circuit Method (F1) This test is an efficiency test and analysis in full accord with IEEE 112, Method F1.

Sealed Winding Conformance Test To test the sealed windings in accordance with NEMA MG1-20.18.2 – Test For Which Stator Cannot Be Submerged.

Torques - Non-Standard Starting or breakdown torques higher than standard usually require special rotor construction. If die cast rotors are standard, copper bar rotors may be required. Even where copper bar rotors are standard, special rotor bar material or rotor construction may be necessary. Refer to your local Siemens Sales representative for pricing, frame, and availability.

Voltages

The MRPD designation for Voltages is indicated in the motor’s basic MRPD structure. Refer to Section 1, Part MRPD for more details.
