Mirka NC abrasives - Non Corrosive RangeThe preparation of corrosion sensitive surfaces requires abrasive products which contain the lowest possible amount of heavy metals. Aluminium based material and the demand from AOEMs for sanding corrosive sensitive materials are increasing. To meet this market requirement, Mirka is now the first abrasive company providing a range of products.

Why NC products?Traditional abrasive products contain significant amounts of heavy metals, such as iron, chromium and copper. During the sanding operation, impurities can contaminate the aluminium surface. Scratches or defects in the paint or oxide layer (eloxated aluminium), which occur after the finishing process, can trigger the corrosion process. Parts of the car body, such as bonnets and bumper edges, which are exposed to stone chipping and other damages, are also at risk.

What is the difference?Special raw materials containing the lowest possible amounts of heavy metal contaminants have been used in the NC product range. Special procedures are applied throughout the production process to reduce the metal contents and ensure a stable quality. Due to the construction, the NC products show significant lower heavy metal contents than the corresponding traditional products.

Abralon®Abralon® is a unique multifunctional patented sanding material developed for the flexible sanding of both smooth and profiled surfaces.

Abralon creates a smooth sanding pattern on angled surfaces and edges, while minimising the risk of pressure marks. The flexible weave allows water and air to pass freely, making the product suitable for both dry and wet sanding, either by machine or hand. Abralon is also suitable for the finishing and pre-polishing of gelcoat, SMC, glass reinforced plastic (GRP), lacquers, etc.

Abranet®Abranet® is a revolutionary sanding material for dust-free sanding.

This unique patented sanding material contains thousands of small holes, making it possible to effectively vacuum dust and other particles away without clogging the disc surface. The result is seen as a very uniform sanding pattern and a perfectly smooth surface. Since the amount of airborne dust has been minimised, the work environment is remarkably improved.

Abranet has been developed for sanding filler, primers, lacquers, composite materials and a large amount of other materials.

Abranet® AceAbranet® Ace is a premium net product with a ceramic grain. The product increases production and speed for tougher, more demanding sanding applications in a variety of industrial sectors, whilst reducing costs.

The improved robust grain prolongs the life and ensures fewer sanding defects and less grain breakage. The tougher nylon backing provides better disc grip adhesion and enhanced edge wear, making Abranet® Ace more effective and longer lasting.

Abranet® Ace also has a highly visible reverse side print pattern making it more user-friendly.

Abranet® SiC NSAbranet® SIC NS is a multifunctional net abrasive without stearate, developed mainly for glass sanding, but is also suitable for sanding of other hard surfaces like primers, clear coats and composites.

A combination of high performance and a longer lifespan than traditional abrasives gives a cost-effective solution. The bonding is of resin type, and Abranet SiC NS is coated with a dense, uniform layer of silicon carbide grains.

Gold SoftGold Soft is a sanding disc with a foam backing. The semi-open grain gives a good cutting performance and is less likely to clog.

The soft backing gives an excellent paint finish, and the softer disc edge eliminates damages on profile sanding.

Mirka NC abrasives - Non Corrosive RangeThe preparation of corrosion sensitive surfaces requires abrasive products which contain the lowest possible amount of heavy metals. Aluminium based material and the demand from AOEMs for sanding corrosive sensitive materials are increasing. To meet this market requirement, Mirka is now the first abrasive company providing a range of products.

Why NC products?Traditional abrasive products contain significant amounts of heavy metals, such as iron, chromium and copper. During the sanding operation, impurities can contaminate the aluminium surface. Scratches or defects in the paint or oxide layer (eloxated aluminium), which occur after the finishing process, can trigger the corrosion process. Parts of the car body, such as bonnets and bumper edges, which are exposed to stone chipping and other damages, are also at risk.

What is the difference?Special raw materials containing the lowest possible amounts of heavy metal contaminants have been used in the NC product range. Special procedures are applied throughout the production process to reduce the metal contents and ensure a stable quality. Due to the construction, the NC products show significant lower heavy metal contents than the corresponding traditional products.

CaratflexCaratflex is a stearate coated abrasive product for dry sanding applications. Caratflex has been developed for hand sanding of wood, sealers, paint and lacquers. The backing consists of a flexible latex paper, which is ideal for profile sanding.

Caratflex has a fine stock removal and the silicon carbide grains provide a uniform scratch pattern. The resin bonding and the stearate coating guarantee a long lifetime.

Gold ProflexGold Proflex is a stearate coated abrasive paper for dry hand sanding of wood, fillers, paints and lacquers. The backing is latex paper, which provides a desired flexibility and conformity in profile sanding operations as well as on flat surfaces. Due to the anti-slip coating on the reverse, it provides good grip during sanding.

Gold Proflex has aluminium oxide grain, which provides a good cut and an excellent scratch pattern, making it ideal for in-between coats and finishing.

Abralon®Abralon® is a unique multifunctional patented sanding material developed for the flexible sanding of both smooth and profiled surfaces.

Abralon creates a smooth sanding pattern on angled surfaces and edges, while minimising the risk of pressure marks. The flexible weave allows water and air to pass freely, making the product suitable for both dry and wet sanding, either by machine or hand. Abralon is also suitable for the finishing and pre-polishing of gelcoat, SMC, glass reinforced plastic (GRP), lacquers, etc.

Mirka® CEROS –The Compact Electric Random Orbital Sander

Being electric makes Mirka CEROS conventional and practical to use in any location where a power source is available – even in remote areas or where space is severely restricted. Mirka CEROS is also a very safe tool to work with. The machine is 22 V (low voltage) which is important when e.g. wet sanding gel coat with Abralon. The optimized ergonomics ensure it´s comfortable to grip, while the low profile design and very light weight allow easy manoeuvrability and greater control over the end finish. Moreover, Mirka CEROS has really low vibration values, 2,8 vs. 3,4 m/s² (EN 60745).

It requires no special pads and is compatible with Mirka´s regular 125 mm and 150 mm backing pads. The ultra-reliable hermetic brushless motor is powerful enough to maintain a constant speed under load. It is also virtually silent in operation and cheap to run. It has few wearing components so the need for maintenance is minimized and its lifespan is long.

Mirka Cordless Sanders– the new battery driven platform

Mirka is expanding its power tool range by introducing the first small brushless battery driven spot repair sanders. As with all Mirka machines, the ergonomic design has been a priority to ensure that the light tool can comfortably be used for long periods without fatigue. These strong cordless sanders enable a long working time as the battery lasts up to 16 hours in industrial use. The lithium-ion battery charges in only 45 minutes.

When using a cordless sander the operator can freely move around the object. As no pneumatic hose is needed the risk of the hose causing defects on the surface being sanded is removed.

Cordless sanders are more energy efficient compared to pneumatic tools. The sanders do not require oiling, which removes the risk of contamination from compressed air supply.

Directions for use

Polishing guidelines

Use recommended pad and compound combination for best result.

Recommended polishing speed 1,200–2,000 rpm.

Spread compound on a sufficiently small area.

Let the polish and the weight of the buffer do most of the work.

Keep the pads clean, a dirty pad will cause scratches.

To avoid overheating and to achieve an even finish, keep the buffer in motion.

To optimise the lifetime of the pads, clean regularly with water.

Water can be used as a cooler and lubricator during the polishing process.

Keep the compound from drying while polishing; dry compound can burn the surface.

Apply pad Shake well before use

Apply polish to pad or paint surface

Spread compound and polish at 1,200–2,000 rpm

Clean the surface

Keep out of reach of children

Recommended storage temperature

Do not polish in direct sunlight
