High Efficiency Radiant Tube Heating Systems....................................................................................................................................................

....................................................................................................................................................

VSX

Features & BenefitsFeatures: New advanced burner technology

> Choice of burner ratings from 20 to 50kW

> NOx emissions as low as 52ppm on certain models - 40% lower than standard radiant heater

> All units CE approved

> New slim-line burner head provides

a long evenly distributed flame that dramatically improves temperature distribution along the entire length of the heater, delivering a more even floor coverage

> Combustion occurs entirely within the firing tube. Not only does this reduce the size and weight of the traditional burner control housing but it also helps to reduce noise levels (as quiet as 47 dB(A) 3m field)

> The inclusion of a recuperative heat exchanger on VSX models (patent P308150GB), mounted adjacent to the burner housing, significantly increases thermal efficiencies up to 90% and enhances radiant efficiency above 62.5%.

Renowned for its pioneering track record, AmbiRad, Europes leading supplier of radiant tube heating systems, has yet again raised the industry standard in terms of innovation and technical performance.

The range of high efficiency Vision radiant tube heaters delivers exceptional performance in terms of efficiency and the potential to reduce energy costs.

The foundation of this development is a high efficiency advanced burner.

15% more effective than standard radiant tube heaters, with payback of 6 months achievable when redeeming ECA allowances.

Model Range > The high efficiency VSX range, with

recuperative heat exchanger, which is

available as a 'U' tube model only.

Turbulators

Stainless steel spiral turbulators optimise

tube temperatures by ‘scrubbing’ the flue

gases against the tube surface, maximising

heat transfer and increasing radiant efficiency.

Heat Exchanger

Mounted adjacent to the burner housing.

Significantly increases thermal efficiencies

up to 90% and enhances radiant efficiency

above 62.5%.

Burner

Burner ratings range between 20 and 50kW

in 5kW increments. The new burner head

located within the firing tube leg provides a

very long flame with even heat distribution.

NOx emissions are very low - as low as

52ppm on certain models.

Flueing

Units can be installed unflued or

individually flued (including concentric

flues to minimise building penetrations).

Fresh air intake

Fresh air can be ducted into the heat

exchanger from outside the building to

provide clean combustion air, required

when there are contaminates in the

atmosphere.

> Combustion occurs entirely within the firing tube. Not only does this reduce the size and weight of the traditional burner control housing but it also helps to reduce noise levels (as quiet as 47 dB(A) 3m field)

> New slim-line burner head provides

> All units CE approved

Benefits:Easy to install and maintain

> On forced gas burner models all electrical wiring is contained at one end of the product, which is particularly time saving when installing single linear (VSLF ) heater models

> All units require straightforward annual maintenance

The Vision range of radiant tube heaters delivers exceptional performance in terms of efficiency and the potential to reduce energy costs.

The foundation of this development is a high efficiency advanced burner.

Model RangeThere are two vision ranges:

> The VS range, complete with stainless

steel reflectors and endcaps, is

available in U tube, single linear

and double linear models and can

be mounted in linear or U tube

herringbone configurations

> The VSA range, complete with

aluminised reflector and end caps,

which is available in U tube, single

linear and double linear models and

can be mounted in linear or U tube

Optimum economy and fuel savings

> The elimination of both distribution

and standby losses coupled with high

operational efficiencies at the point of

use enable fuel savings of up to 65%

compared with conventional heating

systems

> Excellent radiant performance. More

of the available heat generated is

distributed to floor level thereby

improving efficiency and reducing

energy consumption

Additional control at the touch of a buttonAll models are compatible with AmbiRad

SmartCom control systems. SmartCom

units incorporate a host of features such as

self learning optimised start-up to ensure

increased comfort and energy savings.

Herringbone ConfigurationHerringbone systems are specifically designed to suit individual building requirements; they can incorporate up to ten 'U' tube or linear heaters on one exhaust manifold. The exhaust manifold may be terminated through the roof or wall.

The particular benefits of herringbone systems are:

> Optimised energy efficiencies

> All units share a common internal flue thereby raising efficiency within the building

> Uniform heat distribution within the space being heated

> Improved aesthetics and minimal risk of water ingress - only one penetration of the building is required to enable the products of combustion to be expelled

> Universal application - they are ideal for both new build and older premises (in particular where penetration of an asbestos roof is an issue)

> VSO UH Models are Listed on the Energy Technology List

Nor-Ray-Vac Continuous Radiant Tube Heating System

A continuous radiant tube system incorporating multiple burners in a series, designed to suit individual requirements. Please contact 01384 489700 for more information.

£P.O.A

Continuous Radiant Tube Heating Systems....................................................................................................................................................

....................................................................................................................................................

Features & BenefitsFeatures:

> Reduces overall costs, with savings of up to 60% being achieved over conventional heating systems

> In-line fuel efficient burners with inputs ranging from 12 to 46kW

> Common vacuum fan operation

> Stoichiometric or ‘perfect’ combustion

> 91% combustion efficiency

> Rapid heat-up times

> Good aesthetic integration with building

> Minimal vent penetrations

> Capable of running three 46kW burners in a radiant branch

> Widest range of burner inputs for any continuous system

> Uniform distribution of heat

> Reliability and safety of operation to the latest European standard for multi- burner systems (EN 777)

> Qualifies for inclusion on the Government’s Energy Technology List.

Nor-Ray-Vac is a gas fired continuous radiant tube heating system, designed specially for the building it is required to heat. The following criteria form the basis of each particular system design:

> Heat loss of the building for the required thermal environment

> Local climate conditions

> Type of activity in the building

> Specific architectural features relating to the structure

The Nor-Ray-Vac system is designed to

provide uniform heat coverage over the

entire floor area. Alternatively, the system

can also cater for distinct zones providing

a varied degree of comfort level within the

overall layout of the building.

AmbiRad strives to become part of the

‘design team’, working closely with

engineers or end users to determine the

specific design parameters for the

Nor-Ray-Vac scheme layout. This contact

between the company’s engineers and the

system designer or client will give the most

effective Nor-Ray-Vac system.

The result is a heating system designed

specifically for the needs of the building and

the way that the premises are managed.

Model RangeThe Nor-Ray-Vac Series continuous radiant tube heating system includes six natural gas or propane burner models from 12 to 46kW, radiant tube lengths from 5.2 to 27 metres. Maximum tube temperatures range from 450°C to 480°C.

AMBIRAD

....................................................................................................................................................

System OperationThe system operates on a vacuum principle and utilises a zero governor within a dedicated gas valve ensuring optimum efficiency, reliability

and safety.

The zero governor will only allow flow of gas when a vacuum is created by the fan. Therefore as well as the standard failsafe (where the gas

valve locks out with ignition or gas supply failure), the zero governor also mechanically prevents gas flow in the event of vacuum shut down.

The control of gas flow through the zero governor and the air flow into the mixing chamber while under the influence of the vacuum fan,

enables stoichiometric combustion at the burner head.

Stoichiometric combustion permits the inclusion of further burners within the same tubing ‘downstream’ from the first burner, ensuring evenly

distributed heat along the length of radiant tube.

Conforming to the European Gas Appliance regulations (EN 777), the end vent module burner has been developed to ‘prove’ flow of air at the

start of each radiant branch. The end vent module burner is a unique feature to the Nor-Ray-Vac system and instils the principle of ‘safety of

operation’ as a prerequisite of design.

Sonning is a high-level radiant tube heating system using hot air as the heating medium, rather than hot water, steam or the combustion products from a naked flame. The system is particularly suitable for heating large factories and aircraft hangers.

With Sonning radiant tube heating, there are no moving parts to maintain at high level, routine maintenance of other systems causes disruption to personnel and high level access to the equipment may be impeded by congested and restricted floors.

High temperature air circulates around

a closed circuit of spiral loops in

configurations of 2-6 tubes, providing a

powerful source of radiant heat to the room

or space being warmed and ensuring a

totally safe environment.

No air is discharged into the space - it is

returned to the heater, then reheated to

a pre-determined supply temperature and

recirculated around the system by a high

temperature centrifugal fan.

Since the heat source is completely

independent of the recirculating air stream,

any gas or liquid fuel can be burnt within

the Sonning heater combustion chamber.

Model RangeThe heaters will operate equally as

effectively on a wide variety of fuels, natural

gas/LPG/Oil. If required, Sonning heaters

can be fitted with dual fuel burners giving

the user the option to use either gas or oil.

Heater ratings are offered from 50kW to

500kW.

Sonning heaters are of vertical configuration

facilitating the use of contra-flow heat

exchanger and combustion chamber.

This allows for low air resistance, low air

pressure and the optimum in heat transfer

efficiency.

Sonning Recirculated Air Radiant Tube Heating Systems

AmbiRad continue their tradition of manufacturing high efficiency warm air heating equipment with the introduction of the new ultra high efficient ULTRA series of energy saving condensing gas fired unit heaters.

The ULTRA range provides the highest efficiency levels and substantially reduced CO2 & NOx emissions (under 25ppm).

The units exceed the requirements of

current Building Regulations L2, with

thermal efficiencies up to 108% to provide

exceptional levels of seasonal efficiency.

Also the extremely low NOX emissions

enable BREEAM points to claimed (when

applicable).

These 4th generation units utilise tubular

primary heat exchanger and a secondary

condensing heat exchanger with an

aerodynamic profile and 4-pass flue gas

circuit.

Model Range

> The ULTRA condensing units are

available in five models with heat

outputs ranging from 25kW to 94kW

(five models) for use on natural gas or

propane

> For use on natural gas (G20, G25) or

propane (G31)

Features & BenefitsFeatures

> Thermal efficiency of 100% at full load

and up to 108% at minimum load for

lower operational costs up to 108%

thermal efficiency

> Substantially reduced CO2 and NOx

emissions (under 25 ppm) considerably

lower than the emissions of the

previous generation of unit heaters,

and already exceeding European

standards

> Reduced energy bills

> Ideal for new low carbon buildings

> Up to 35% energy saving on

replacement heaters

> Burner with new “pull through”

combustion technology. Negative

pressure ensures that no gas or flue

gas can escape into the heated space

> Versatile flue options (top or rear

connections) for ease of installation

> High flow axial fan for a powerful air

throw, decreases stratification and

improves heat distribution

> 5:1 turn down ratio for close

temperature control. Reduced

temperature gradients help prevent

stratification

The Government’s Enhanced Capital

Allowance scheme actively encourages

industry and commerce to reduce energy

consumption by promoting the use of

energy efficient equipment. The high

thermal efficiency of UESA units (up to

104%), significantly exceeds the 91%

threshold for Enhanced Capital Allowances.

This symbol verifies that the product has

been independently assessed and qualifies

for the ECA scheme, an upfront tax relief

enabling businesses that invest in energy-

saving equipment to claim 100% first-year

capital allowances against their taxable

profits.

Balanced Flue Installations

For balanced flue applications the terminal

provides both the fresh air for combustion

air and the flue outlet from a single

building penetration. The terminals are

ordered separately from the heaters to suit

either a wall outlet or roof outlet.

Additional flue and combustion air pipes

may be added up to the maximum

permissible length detailed in the product

literature.

To comply with CE approvals, balanced flue

appliances must be used with the

manufacturer’s balanced flue system.

All balanced flue heaters are also certified

for fan assisted flue installations, where the

combustion air is to be drawn from inside

the building or units installed in a ventilated

plant room. Roof and wall terminals for

fan assisted non balanced flue installations

should be selected from the list opposite

for these applications and also for balanced

flue applications using separated flue outlet

and combustion air inlet.

These quiet but powerful fans gently propel the warm air down into the working zone. The displacement of this pool of warm air from the roof void to low level has a positive impact in the reduction of fuel usage which, depending upon building height, can be as much as 15%.

Design Data

Select the fan unit to suit the mounting

height requirements. Ideally the fan should

be mounted above the lighting system

and with a clearance of at least 750mm

between the blades and the roof. The

minimum height should take account any

obstruction and the safety of personnel.

The minimum recommended mounting

height is 2.5m.

Calculate the buildings floor area in square

metres, then divide the result by the floor

area coverage for the fan size selected.

Bear in mind that the floor area coverage is

based on maximum mounting height and

this reduces if the fans are mounted lower.

Check the maximum distance between fans

and the minimum clearance from the walls.

....................................................................................................................................................Destratification Fans

Benson destratification fans reverse the natural convection process, re-circulating warm air back to working level providing a permanent reduction in roof space temperature and uniform temperature at floor level.

Model Range

DS fans are available in five sizes, with

mounting heights ranging from 4m to 18m

and air volumes 3000 m3/h to 11000 m3/h.

All units are supplied with a four-way

discharge for improved air distribution.

Design Data

Select the DS unit to suit the mounting

height required, ideally the units should be

installed approximately 1 metre below the

apex.

Calculate the volume of the building and

multiply by two to determine the amount of

air that needs to be re-circulated for

effective de-stratification. Divide by the

primary air flow of the unit to determine the

number of units required.

DF/MUA

Constant volume direct fired make up air

heaters to provide a fixed rate of heated

fresh air to the space.

The units are ideal for supplying heating

and make up air to large areas or to

individual spray booths etc where

constant extract rates are used.

Generally units are sized to introduce

slightly more make up air into the space

than the extract air volume. A balanced

amount of make up air can provide a slight

positive pressure to uniformly distribute the

air throughout the building and eliminate

random air infiltration.

For special applications such as kitchen

make up air and certain industrial

processes where the transfer of odours or

dust etc to surrounding areas needs to be

avoided the volume of make up air supplied

is lower than the extract rate.

DF/VAV

The variable air volume models allow the

volume of heated make up air to vary to suit

the changing requirements of the building

or changing exhaust rates.

The units are fitted with a special box

burner system c/w integral fan(s) to ensure

optimum combustion throughout the range

of varying volume main air supply.

The units supply 100% fresh air at all times

but the volume of fresh air is automatically

adjusted either by the application of a

building pressure sensor or temperature

sensors.

The building pressure sensor can be set to

maintain a slight positive or slightly

negative pressure inside the building to suit

the requirements of the application.

DF/REC

Nordair Niche variable air recirculation

models are fully CE approved and

patented to provide a constant air volume

with up to 80% recirculation air.

The variable air recirculation option

combines a constant supply of 20% fresh

air which passes over the burner with the

remaining air volume being either fresh air,

recirculation air or a mixture of fresh and

recirculated air.

The variable percentage of fresh air and

recirculation air is accurately controlled via

a fully modulating face and by pass damper

with fresh air introduced using the burner

section and recirculation air via an integral

by pass.

The fully modulating burner control and

modulating damper control functions are

fully Integrated via a microprocessor control

to completely co-ordinate the heating and

ventilation functions.

Kitchen Units

Nordair Niche kitchen units are designed to be installed to provide

tempered and filtered fresh air make-up into commercial kitchens.

The units are of fully insulated weatherproof construction suitable

for external installation and comprise the following options :

> Optional air intake cowl incorporating a bird mesh guard

> Filter section with disposable F6 filters

The Stratification Problem

Hot air, which is less dense and therefore

lighter than cold air, will rise while cold air

tends to fall. This fundamental law of

physics has a negative effect on

conventional air heating systems where the

discharge air temperature is often around

45-50 °C. As a result the discharge air does

not easily mix with the air in the building

and instead tends to rise to high level.

Cold air entering at floor level accelerates

the migration of warm air to the top of the

building and increases the temperature

gradient between the floor and the roof

level.

This layer of cold air forms at low level

making it increasingly difficult to maintain

the required temperature, resulting in cold

zones around the building.

To overcome this problem it is necessary

to install either a large number of high level

de-stratification fans in conjunction with

conventional heaters or an extensive

amount of ductwork to achieve even

temperature distribution and to re-cycle hot

air back down to floor level.

The Air Rotation Solution

Air Rotation provides a simple cost effective

solution by utilising a much greater supply

air volume with only a low temperature

rise.

The system draws in the cooler air at low

level and rotates the air to high level where

it mixes with the warmer air. This develops

a gentle airflow pattern, displacing the high

level hot air and returning it to floor level to

provide automatic de-stratification.

When additional heat is required the supply

air is tempered to give a minimal

temperature difference between air

discharge and the space temperature so

that the natural tendency of the hot air to

stratify is virtually eliminated. The

rotation of large air volumes of tempered

air provides even wall to wall and floor to

roof temperature distribution and allows

heat gains from lighting and other

sources to be re-circulated to low level to

reduce energy consumption.

The units have a turndown ratio of 4:1 to

ensure that the optimum amount of heat

can be supplied to meet changing

building requirements.

An integral control system monitors the

temperature at high and low level within

the building and adjusts the discharge

temperature to maintain optimum heat

distribution.

The fan assisted flues from the unit can be

terminated through either the roof or wall.

The simple wall terminal eliminates the

requirement for costly flue systems in tall

buildings and associated roof penetrations.

ColdAIR evaporative cooling systems are fast becoming the standard way to cool industrial and commercial premises, by drawing air through continually wetted pads that surround the unit. The evaporation of the moisture into the air reduces its temperature, whilst the process also filters it, removing airborne contaminants.

Evaporative cooling systems are designed with energy efficiency in mind, typically consuming only 20% of the energy used by traditional air conditioning systems and with the ability to install without any structural alterations to your existing building.

Warehouses, factories, retail premises and cold rooms are all subject to the problems caused by frequently opened doors. The open door not only causes discomfort but greatly increases energy loss and, therefore, the running costs of the building. Airbloc units offer a cost-effective, energy efficient solution to these problems by reducing heat loss by 80%.

The Airbloc rangecomprises ambient unheated models or heated models using gas, electricity, hot water or steam. In well insulated structures, Airbloc provides the final complement to the low energy concept by eliminating a major source of heat-loss.

Simple Versatile Installation

Airbloc units are supplied in a compact

modular format for simplified on-site

handling. Units are designed for doors up to

six metres high. For industrial applications

where over-door installation is not practical,

the units may be vertically mounted at one

or both sides of the door. Remote control

panels are provided with each air curtain to

reduce on-site wiring.

Food Safety

European Food Safety Inspection Service

(EFSIS) advises that where food is handled

or stored, doors should be adequately

proofed. When doors have to be opened,

Airbloc air curtains offer a suitable barrier to

stop the ingress of dust and flying insects,

protecting the internal environment. The

use of an air curtain across cold store

doors also helps prevent the icing of floors

and condensers.

Special OrdersPlease note we try our very best to meet

clients requested delivery dates, however

the following units or options require a lead

time of 1 week or more:

AB industrial air curtains provide a barrier of high velocity air that helps block incoming winds and stops warm air escaping. They achieve this by delivering a powerful barrier of heated air across the entire width of the doorway. Units can be easily fitted within existing or new buildings and are ideal for open doorways.

Units are best mounted horizontally above the door to enable high-level warm air to be re-circulated to working level. Where over-door mounting is not possible, alternative units are available which may be mounted vertically at one or both sides of the door.

Model Range > Eight models, for door widths from 2

metres to 6.7 metres

> Suitable for doorways up to six metres

high

> Heat outputs from 24kW to 195kW

> Choice of ambient, gas, electric, LPHW

or steam units

> Units may be specified for either use

on natural gas (G20) or propane (G31)

> Standard units are suitable for horizontal mounting over the top of a door. For applications requiring vertical air curtains special ‘tailor made’ units are available

Features > Lower energy bills; air curtains provide

an effective barrier to minimise the

loss of warm air through open doors

> Complement and improve efficiency of

conventional heating systems

> Allow doors to be left open for fork

lift access

> Heated units can operate when the

door is closed to provide

supplementary heating

> Models are supplied to site in modular

format for ease of handling

> All models are supplied with remote

control panels

> Optional fan speed control is available

on all models
