demonstrating that yours is a learning organization and a change agent for the physicians you

serve. Kopelow continued: You have demonstrated an engagement with your environment insupport of physician learning and change that is apart of a system for quality improvement.

The ACCMEs letter to pmiCME/Pri-Med cited their specific findings that served as the basis for

the accreditation with commendation decision, including:

pmiCMEs organizational imperative and program planning process focuses onimproving physicians practice. The CME planners and medical directors partner withleaders from medical specialty societies and academic institutions to assess physician

practice needs and create specific educational strategies to improve physician practice.

pmiCME implements educational strategies to remove, overcome or address barriers tophysician change. For example, pmiCME developed a series of educational activities thatcombined didactic sessions with hands-on workshops across the country to address

primary care physicians challenge of demonstrating the proper use of asthma inhalers to

    patients.

pmiCME participates in a system framework for quality improvement through externalcollaborations with medical associations and specialty societies, such as the American

Diabetes Association. pmiCME has internal oversight committees for qualityimprovement and clinical outcomes. Through these relationships, pmiCME detects and

addresses deficiencies in clinical knowledge, competence, performance, and patient

outcomes.pmiCMEs content and editorial standard uses quality measures from leadingmedical specialty societies, the PQRI, and Healthy People 2020 that are incorporated into

    educational curricula for activities.

The ACCME rigorously evaluates the overall continuing medical education programs ofinstitutions according to standards adopted by all seven sponsoring organizations of the

ACCME: the American Board of Medical Specialties, the American Hospital Association, the

American Medical Association, the Association for Hospital Medical Education, the Association

of American Medical Colleges, the Council of Medical Specialty Societies, and the Federation ofState Medical Boards.

Gateway to New Program DevelopmentPri-Meds exemplary education ultimately serves the patients of primary care clinicians and

other specialties. In June, Pri-Med launched its inauguralIntegrated Approaches to

Cardiometabolic Care(IACC) conference as a foundational component ofthe companys vision

to develop in-depth integrated medical education easily implemented at the point-of-care, and isdeveloping plans to take this internationally.
