SLOVENIAMarch 2010: IBM Slovenia has signed a three-and-a-half-year, EUR 21.6 million agreement with the Slovenian Tax Administration for the development of a solution that will accelerate the government's efforts to modernize tax procedures, improve transparency in tax administration operations, provide high-quality services adapted to taxpayers’needs and exercise better tax control. As a result, the Slovenian Tax Administration expects significant savings in the state budget once the new system is up and running.

May 2009: The Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia and IBM announced the Slovenian decision to roll out a new electronic health insurance card system across the country. The new system enables healthcare providers to instantly check a patient’s health insurance status and allows for health claims to be processed online. The decision to roll out the new electronichealth insurance system nationwide comes after the successful completion of a pilot program at Dr. Franc Derganc General Hospital in Šempeter in Nova Gorica region in October 2008.

CROATIASeptember 2010 : The Tax Administration of the Republic of Croatia and IBM Croatia has successfully completed the implementation of the following Value Added Tax (VAT) related systems: VAT Information Exchange System (VIES), VAT Refund, VAT on e-services, mini One Stop Shop and Exchange of Forms . The "VIES Enhancements and VES Development" project is funded by a 2 million Euro grant from the European Commission under the PHARE 2006 program. The new computerized systems are based on a flexible Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and will enable the Croatian Government to effectively manage cross-border VAT payments with other EU members, cutting administration and increasing efficiency for both VAT traders and Tax officers.

SLOVAKIAApril 2010 - The Statistical Office of the Slovak Republicawarded IBM a 3-year EUR 6.8 million services agreement to provide integrated technology services in support of the 2011 national census. IBM will automate the collection, processing and analysis of census data. In addition to the traditional paper forms, Slovakian citizens will be also able to fill in questionnaires on-line. The 2011 census will be run in accordance with EU regulations for the first time.

February 2010: IBM will standardize Slovakia’s fiscal system by integrating and streamlining existing processes into a unified collection platform. The solution will help eliminate high administrative burden and the financial challenges in the existing system. It will improve the transparency and accountability of Slovak public fiscal mngmt, supporting decision making and governance. The system will enable integration and communication between various local authorities responsible for the collection of taxes, customs duties and insurance contributions.
