I have been always fascinated by the watercolour technique. The force of expression, in its lightness and airiness, approaches most the intangibility and subtlety of thought. Perhaps because the communication between the rain and the hand holding the brush is almoust direct and uninterrupted and, therefore, the hand may act as a seismograph recording sensitively the processes of our subconsciousness and consciousness. I should like to say a few words on my understanding of these two phenomena. I believe that the subconsciousness is the principal sensor of our personality which is capable to pick up an infinite number of media /energies/ surrounding and permeating us. At the same time it is the starting point of our feelings. It is generally known that subconsciousness occupies a far greater part of our brain than all other elements, such as consciousness. Consciousness is the folow-up phenomenon which is no less important and which I imagine as an antenna, a feeler, connecting us, by means of our senses, with reality and enabling us by this feedback to realize our identity. Therefore, I understand subconsciousness and consciousness as two determining elements situated side by side and simultaneously juxtaposed, whose interconnection is effected by the afore mentioned feeling which springs from the subconsciousness and enters the consciousness, where it is joined by our will which determines its further direction. I shall return now to the watercolour and add to it the technique of drawing. Both means of expression are similar with the difference: we can draw with a hand wet with blood or soiled with ashes, without the necessity of knowing how to grasp an object in it. This is testified to by the relics cating from the dawn of Mankind. Lines drawn in sand by a toddler who has not yet said its first word, also represent a clear proof of the primacy of subconsciousness and feeling not yet articulated by consciousness and will. It is a spontaneous need of recording something, communicating something without knowing what it says. Perphaps it is merely an expression of joy and freedom before the consciousness sets in. I am pondering these questions and trying to make them the starting point of my work and transpose them into three dimensions to create some sort of models /objects/ of my ideas. I am trying to express in the most abbreviated form possible the fundamental principles determining our existence and answer the question of essence. At the same time I want to use material means in a way which would not deprive them of that lightness or directness, if you like, I have described when speaking about watercolour or drawing. Therefore, I use natural materials / wood, stone, sometime glass which I leave in its natural form to make the impression of ice/ which I try not to violate too much by external working in order to preserve their natural energy. My contribution should consist in distinctive architecture in its classical concept and the grasping of sculptural form or, in other words, the creation of space and composition concealing refinements invisible at first sight and thus according the object a novel type of energy which is my own.

fontány hrají jako zvony v dálce. • Vítr mění směr pramenů vody a proměňuje zvuky na meditativní polyfonii. • Socha je vytvořena z kvalitního, velmi trvanlivého materiálu. Hudební fontána byla v 90. letech

instalována jako součást výstavy konané ve Valdštejnské zahradě v Praze. • • • The Butterfly musical fountain depicts a supernatural creature. • It floats above water. • The body of the fountain is made of polished stainless steel. • Surface of the sculpture mirrors its surroundings. • Water flows from the head of the fountain on its steel wings. The wings are tuned by firing. The

fountain produces sounds like those of bells ringing in the distance. • Wind changes the direction of water streams thus changing the sounds into meditative polyphony. • The statue is made of a quality, durable material. This musical fountain was displayed in 1990s as

part of an exhibition in the Wallenstein Garden in Prague.
