We know early detection can improve our members’ – your employees’ – chances of having a long and healthy life. That translates into less sick days and time off work and increased productivity. We encourage our members to see their primary care provider (PCP) annually for a preventive care visit. One preventive care visit per year is available to your employees at no additional cost to them. During a preventive care visit, a PCP will: • talk with your employee about their personal and family health history • discuss their current health, lifestyle and behaviors • perform a physical exam • suggest other screening services your employee may need We also handle preventive care differently than most other insurance companies. We offer no-charge preventive services whether our members have been previously diagnosed with an illness or not. With most other plans, if a member has been diagnosed with an illness, screenings are coded as “diagnostic” and are no longer preventive. Your employees can refer to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality for an interactive tool to help identify
preventive services covered under their plan at https://epss.ahrq.gov/ePSS/search.jsp
• For example, if you have an employee who has been diagnosed with high cholesterol in the past we will cover that member’s first annual bloodwork at their preventive care visit under their preventive care benefits.
• Or if one of your employees has a colonoscopy at their preventive care exam and their provider determines they need to have polyp removal, we will cover that under their preventive care benefit.

Preventive care is a benefit to our members, both medically and financially.
