    Pressure Wave Switches & Sensors

    Universally Reliable

The pressure wave system, due to its high sensitivity, is able to detect contact from people or vehicles approaching from almost any angle and a low activation force reliably switches the electrical contact. Due to it's simple design, the system is extremely robust and reliable even under tough environmental conditions. Bircher Reglomat's pressure wave switch systems are a proven solution for a variety of applications. The systems are maintenance free and offer excellent cost-performance ratio.

    Route 2

    Automatic Overhead Door Bus/Train Door

Quick reaction time is ideal for high-speed doors

Airwave sensing edge assembly with switch protects people/vehicles in the closing path of a door by reversing the door when contact is made with the edge.

Airwave sensing edge assembly with switch protects people in the closing path of an entry or vestibule door. The door reverses when contact is made with the edge.

Self-contained system does not require external power

Highly sensitive to pressure from all directions for opti-mal safety

    Barrier Gate

Airwave sensing edge assembly with switch protects people/vehicles in the closing path of a barrier gate. The barrier gate reverses when contact is made with the edge.

Soft rubber profile with low activation force requirement prevents injury to people or damage to vehicles

Activation from all angles with low force requirement

Technology OverviewA pressure wave generated by pressing the sensing edge or sensor reaches the pressure wave switch. The membrane inside the switch deflects, causing the electric contact to close (open if switch is set to NC logic).

The electric contact remains switched as long as the input pressure is above the response pressure threshold and before bleeding through the temperature compensation orifice.

    Medical Equipment

Airwave sensing edge assembly with switch can be used as an activation device to quickly and precisely position equipment.

Resistant to cleaning chemi-cals and bodily fluids

Increases patient/operator safety - no electrically conductive components used for device activation Operating temperature

Ground contact sensors are ideally used an activation sensor for automatic doors and gates. Featuring a slim profile, the sensor is installed partially in the ground and acts as a sensing edge to activate a pressure wave switch that triggers the automatic door or gate to open. Switch sold separately.

Bircher Reglomat's durable pneumatic push buttons can be used for a variety of activa-tion or signalling applications. Low activa-tion forces are required, making them simple and reliable to use. Switch sold separately.
