(4-20-2015)—Today at 4:20 pm, Mayor Frank McDonald, the Stoner Crew and their honored guests officially broke ground in the Town of Stoner, Colorado to mark the construction of the tear down and rebuild of this historic town. The town was created in 1888, and was one of a few stops for the historical galloping goose in the early nineteen hundreds. After the 2012 election that legalized recreational marijuana for adult use, the opportunity was expanded to provide for Stoner to become a place for festivals and for canna- tourism. The Town of Stoner Colorado is located at the fork of Stoner Creek and the Dolores River, in a beautiful valley surrounded by hills and mesas, only 40 miles from Telluride. The project includes tearing down and rebuilding the original town site in addition to building on a second parcel for even larger events. Phase one includes the tear down and rebuild of the original town site which includes 30 full service RV Spots with power and dump, a General Store, and a Bar and Grill that can host smaller scale events at approximately 2,500 people. The second parcel is located under a mile away and borders the Dolores River and has a natural spring. This added parcel provides for an additional couple hundred rural camping spots and the ability to host larger 10,000 person events. The Town of Stoner, Colorado is set to be in full operation by July 2015. "This is a historic day for Colorado and for the entire country," said Mayor Frank McDonald. “We are making a real and lasting investment to set an example for the rest of the country as we create the first town in America dedicated to the cannabis lifestyle.” For more information contact Frank McDonald at 720-891-8465 [email protected] ###
