***MEDIA ALERT*** COCA-COLA EBONY FESTIVAL COMMITTED TO A NEW VISION OF AFRICA Washington, DC, March 15, 2004—Coca-Cola executives, UN officials and African Ambassadors will gather on March 30 with producers of the Coca-Cola Ebony Festival, Mya Padmore and Seynabou Sy, to announce the upcoming three-day celebration of African unity. The Coca Cola Ebony Festival in Dakar, Senegal celebrates the hope, spirit and cultures of the African people despite a plethora of crises threatening Africa. The festival, which takes place June 4-6, 2004 on Goree Island, will launch a global movement calling Africans—and the rest of the world— to actively participate in renewing their commitment to the continent and her future. The festival will feature concerts— including performances by renowned African artists such as Youssou N'Dour, Miriam Makeba, MC Solaar, and Angelique Kidjo— as well as art, design and a celebrity football match featuring players from the Senegalese football team.
