 For Immediate Release Contact: Joseph Stark, Principal, Burbank Adult School (818)-558-4611 [email protected]  Linking Adults to Opportunity Burbank Unified School District (BUSD) Board of Education adopts Resolution 29 in support of California Adult Education Week, March 11-15, 2013 Burbank , CA (March 8, 2013) - On Thursday, March 7, 2013, the Burbank Unified School District (BUSD) Board of Education voted unanimo usly in favor of Resolution 29, joining school districts throughout the State in celebrating Adult Education Week, from March 11-15, 2013. This year’s theme at Burbank Adult School (BAS) is, California Adult Schools: Linking Adults to Opportunity . BAS is a thriving adult school program which serves the District and community by providing programs that meet students’ evolving academic, family and career goals. The core programs offered are Career and Technical Education (CTE); Adult Basic and Secondary Education; Parent Education; English as a Second Language (ESL); and personal enrichment classes. Annually, BAS serves nearly 6,000 students of varied social, economic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Through innovative partnerships with the City of Burbank and local educational and social service providers, BAS demonstrates its relevance as an integral part of the fabric of the community and offers a uniquely valuable resource for students who reside in the r egion. Among the activities planned during Adult Education Week are the following:  Monday, March 11, 2013   The BAS College and Career Office will offer a free informational session presenting on the many CTE training opportunities offered through BAS.  Tuesday, March 12, 2013   The BAS Parent Education program will hold an “Imagination Playground” event highligh ting its new interactive playground equipment received this year through a grant offered by Dr. Pepper.  Wednesday, March 13, 2013   Glendale Community College (GCC) will come to BAS to provide a free financial aid seminar to BAS students.  Thursday, March 14, 2013  The BAS Academic program will award prizes to the top three students who have written essays on how adult education has helped them. Burbank Unified School District (BUSD) Board of Education adopts Resolution 29 in support of

Burbank , CA (March 8, 2013) - On Thursday, March 7, 2013, the Burbank Unified School District
