PRESS RELEASE Judiciary of Guam to Facilitate Safe School Ambassadors Program and Encourages Community Support of October 21, 2015 Unity Day FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 19, 2015 – October is Guam Bullying Prevention Month. In recognition of Guam Bullying Prevention Month, the Judiciary of Guam will be facilitating the Safe School Ambassadors Program at six secondary schools on-island. The Safe School Ambassadors Program is student-centered and is a proven anti-bullying and violence-prevention program. The Pr ogram identifies and se lects student leaders from diverse groups across the campus and trains these Ambassadors in the skills of non-violent communication to stop bullying, cyberbullying and harassment. As opposed to being bystanders or telling on their peers, the Program teaches ambassadors to be “upstanders,” giving them the motivation, support and intervention skills to prevent and stop bullying and harassment on campus. Students recruited for the Program from the Academy of Our Lady of Guam, Southern High School, Saint Francis Catholic School, Bishop Baumgartner Memorial Catholic School, Saint Anthony Catholic School and San Vicente Catholic School will  participate in a two-day interactive training along with adults from their respective schools who will serve as Program Mentors. The training will take place on October 20 and 21, and October 22 and October 23 at the Pacific Star Resort & Spa. In further support of Guam Bullying Prevention Month, the Judiciary encourages the community to wear the color ORANGE on October 21, 2015 in support of Unity Day. Unity Day is a local and national event to raise awareness of bullying in schools, communities and on- line. By wearing ORANGE on Unity Day, the community can come together and send one large ORANGE message of support, hope and unity to show that it is united against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.
