FOWT, the world’s largest event dedicated to floating offshore wind turbines, will take place at the Palais du Pharo on 25 and 26 April 2018 and has now added an academic session on 27 April 2018. PRESS RELEASE #2 | January 30 th 2017 FOWT’s ever growing and international attendance; with 800 participants expected and delegations confirmed from Japan, Norway, Netherlands, United Kingdom and the USA, affirms its status as the leading global event in floating offshore wind turbines. This 5th edition will take place at the prestigious Palais du Pharo, in Marseilles, and will bring together the best international experts, researchers and industrial players in the sector. MOVING TOWARDS COMMERCIAL DEPLOYMENT Whilst floating turbines have seen a real increase in 2017 with the commissioning of the first pilot farm in Scotland and the inauguration of the first French floating turbine, the 2018 edition will focus on the deployment of commercially focused farms. Amongst the large number of speakers present will be: Giles Dickson, CEO of WindEurope ; Irene Rummelhoff, Executive VP of Statoil New Energy Solutions ; Laurent Michel, Directorate General for energy and the climate – French Minister for Ecological and Sustainable Transition; Tatsuo Tokimasas, Hitachi Zosen; Andrew Jamieson, CEO of ORE Catapult UK, and numerous leading players in the market: Ideol, PPI, SBM Offshore, EDF EN, EDPR, Engie, Naval Energies, The Carbon Trust, DNV GL etc. You can see the complete list of speakers and the programme details for 25, 26 and 27 April 2018 online. NEW FOR 2018: THE LAUNCH OF FOWT’S ACADEMIC SESSION ON 27 APRIL 2018, AT THE CAMPUS OF THE MARSEILLES ECOLE CENTRALE For the first time since its creation and in response to the high number and quality of proposals for scientific presentations received, the Organisation Committee has announced a third, academically focused, day which will examine themes such as Environmental impact and Resource, Design Methodology and Rules. As an extension of the main FOWT event, this session will take place on Friday 27 April 2018 and will be held at the Marseilles Ecole Centrale. Access to FOWT’s Academic Session is included in your FOWT registration, but only the first 200 registrants will be eligible (your request to participate must be specified on the FOWT registration form). BUSINESS MEETINGS: NOT TO BE MISSED In 2017 FOWT organised its first B2B / Meet the Buyers sessions with 600 business meetings taking place. This year once again, with support from Enterprise Europe Network, decision makers and sub-contractors/service providers from all over the world will be able to benefit from these sessions, which aim to bring supply and demand together: broadening sourcing, bringing value to expertise, identifying innovations and products and forging future international partnerships.
