Prince Rainier III of Monaco

The InterContinental Genève, inaugurated on January 31, 1964, cele-brated its 50th anniversary in 2014. Ranked among the world’s high-luxury, 5-star hotels, it is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group.

At the heart of the United Nations district, this lush 18-story show-case, listed among the heritage buildings of the 1960s, overlooks Lake Léman and the city of Geneva, with an incomparable view of Mont Blanc and the Jura mountains.

Ideally located halfway between the center of town and Geneva Inter-national Airport, the hotel is close to international organizations and multinationals, as well as PALEXPO, the Lake Geneva Region’s primary exhibition and conference centre, and the International Conference Centre of Geneva (CICG).

The legendary discretion and security of the InterContinental Geneva have made it the confidant and caretaker of many events of interna-tional importance. Among many others, they include the OPEC confe-rences, the Lebanese Reconciliation Conference in 1983, the famous Reagan-Gorbachev Summit of 1985, the final discussions between Tariq Aziz and James Baker before the first Gulf War in 1991, the meetings between Syrian President Assad and US Presidents Carter and Clinton...

True to its reputation as the most international hotel in Geneva, the InterContinental has hosted the most famous of world leaders, who continue to come and make history here. Over the years, no less than 400 stays by heads of state, including four presidents of the United States and several kings and queens, have taken place within its wal-ls. Some 4000 ministers and countless ambassadors from the world over have also crossed the hotel forecourt.

Paradoxically, it is the hotel’s discretion that has made it famous. Dis-cretion, our most sacred principle, has attracted Dalida, Sophia Loren, Alain Prost, Omar Sharif, Tina Turner, Ray Charles - all of whom stayed here many times in full confidence that their privacy would be pro-tected.

A new era

Tribune de Genève

In the 2000s, a new era came to the InterContinental with the complete reno-vation by New York designer Tony Chi. Member of the Interior Design Hall of Fame, Tony Chi infused the hotel with the quintessence of Zen atmosphere. The extensive renovation took 10 years, ending in 2013.

“The goal was to offer a new look to this hotel - modern, but also classic – investing it with natural beauty and recalling the international and sophisticated look of Geneva,» says Tony Chi.

The hotel experience begins with the entry. After walking over the cobblestones (the same as in the old town of Geneva), one crosses between two outstan-ding bronze doors handmade by master ironworkers, and discovers one of highlights of the renovation: the lobby...

Majestic with its 7.50m-high ceilings, its large fluted columns, flanked on either side by stately staircases, the lobby is distinguished by its two-story fireplaces and multiple works of art. At the top of the chimney and reaching almost to the ceiling, is a unique sculpture of branches by the Korean artist Jae Hyo Lee Korean.

Another spectacular work by the same artist hangs above the reception: the light playing on the intricate branch-work catches the eye. Finally, we also note the silver touch of Christofle throughout the space, especially in the great doors of the Grand Ballroom, in full glory as imagined by the artist Christian Heckscher.

Le Temps

Quintessence of sophistication, from floor to floor, the clean lines inspire har-mony and relaxation.

Rooms and Suites

Comfort and functionality are key to our rooms. Combining contemporary ele-gance and thoughtful amenities, they provide our clients with the very best. All rooms are flooded with natural light and offer panoramic views of the magni-ficent site of the city of Geneva, the Mont Salève and the Jura mountain range.

The custom furnishings of our Executives Suites offer a unique experience. These rooms feature carefully selected fabrics and materials and great atten-tion to detail: large dressing rooms, king size beds, a 180°-view of the city of Geneva. The Executive Junior Suite is even more remarkable for its magnificent bathroom in red marble.

The height of excellence and sophistication, our Panoramic Suites have a lounge and separate dining room, bedroom with dressing room, a luxurious bathroom with his-and-her sinks, rain shower and separate toilet room. True to their name, these suites offer a striking panoramic view of the lake and mountains.

Luxury Suites

On the 16th and 17th floors, our Diplomatic Suites combine the intimacy and innovation of a beautiful apartment with the exclusive services of an interna-tional luxury hotel.

Master bedroom, walk-in showers, Jacuzzi: the Presidential Suites are a modern tribute to the luxury of a former time. With remarkable attention to detail and luxurious amenities, they offer a mix of rare treasures and exquisite taste, against the breathtaking panorama of Lake Geneva and the famous Mont Blanc.

Specially commissioned artwork adorn the walls and accentuate the hotel’s artistic sensibility, while the contemporary luxury make a Luxury Suite the ideal place both for business stay and vacation.

The Residence, high on the top floor of the hotel, offers a breathtaking 360° view of the City of Geneva and its spectacular setting. The Residence was once reserved for long stays by the Saudi Royal family and leaders of the UAE. Today, reinvented by Tony Chi and immersed in the InterContinental Geneva’s tradi-tion of service excellence, The Residence continues to host prestigious guests working for the future of the world...

Decorated with two large doors inspired by Versailles, The Residence consists of an East and West Wing, but also a large living room, library, and kitchen ful-ly-equipped with John Pawson Demeyere cookware and a bar accessorized by Ralph Lauren. Guests also enjoy such exclusive services as a private lift and a personal butler available to satisfy every wish.

The East Wing includes a dining room, master bedroom, luxurious bathroom, guest toilet room, massage room, steam room and dressing room. The West Wing has, in addition, a gym and sauna.

Throughout, the furniture and fabrics have been carefully selected in the fi-nest materials and warm colors. Frette bed linen, incredibly silky and subtly enhanced by the lighting, creates an elegant atmosphere of comfort and refi-nement. Behind the doors of the two bathrooms, one discovers a sumptuous, imposing bathtub carved from a single piece of white marble. The height of luxury, if the doors of the suite are opened, one has a view from the bathtub of Geneva’s majestic Jet d’Eau on the horizon!

Each room has been carefully furnished with artifacts from the George Smith Ottoman Collection, in perfect harmony with modern classics designed by Me-ridiani, Minotti, Baxter, Philippe Hurel but also the timeless beauty of Moisson-nier. The dining table has not been forgotten: it sparkles with the most beautiful of Christofle silver cutlery and Bernardaud porcelain.

Wine Lounge

Prelude to The Woods restaurant, our quaint Wine Lounge is the ideal wine bar for relaxing at the end of the day and taking the time to savour a prestigious selection of regional and international vintages.

Each month, through our wine tasting course, our customers can meet Geneva winemakers and vineyard owners who share with them the secrets of their best wines.

In this quiet atmosphere, the wine can be tasted alone or with a seasonal dish: a plate of charcuterie during the winter months or some lighter accompaniment with the first fine days of spring.

Woods Restaurant

The Woods restaurant reflects the harmony of nature. Here, Tony Chi wanted to give raw materials their nobility: wood brings visual warmth for a cozy effect.

Like a chalet, you ask? Yes, but a chic one! Impossible to miss the entry table or the immense wall of foliage that covers the restaurant, again, notable works by the Korean artist Lee Jae Hyo. With its terrace surrounded by lush bamboo, beside a small Zen-inspired pool, The Woods becomes the perfect, soothing setting for a summer meal.

Our Chef, Guillaume Bourdillon puts all his talent into offering a contemporary cuisine prepared from seasonal products. His challenge: to give classic dishes a bold twist. Depending on the month, he delights with a succession of flavours such as souris d’agneau confite aux olives et tomates, but also such heritage vegetables as cardoons or parsnips, with each dish given a Mediterranean touch.

Pastry Chef Julien Maslanka also follows the seasons and will delight your palate with fresh, sweet and delectable fragrances. Try his chocolate mousse of Guaya-quil or, for the more daring, a strawberry tart in a delicate meringue shell with shards of pistachio and ices made from Gruyère cream.

Throughout the year, The Woods is famous in Geneva for its Sunday brunch thanks to the variety and quality of the buffet. Any gourmet would be seduced by the thousand and one savory and sweet delicacies enjoyed in a friendly, family atmosphere. Indeed, children have their own dedicated room and are our honoured guests every Sunday.

Lunch 12:00-14:30, except Saturday.

Bar les Nations

With the feel of a private New York club, the Bar Les Nations is a world apart. Leather sofas inspire relaxation and comfort while the host table, with sea-ting for 10, is the perfect place for informal business lunches or meetings with friends. The menu features light meals such as salads, finger food and club sand-wiches.

In the bar of the library lounge, one is immersed in the rich history of retro cocktails, from 1900 to 1960. Real tribute must be paid to the bartender’s talent for making drinks like the originals, sometimes created more than a century before. Each cocktail reflects an era, its fashions and aspirations. Thus, the bar Les Nations distinguishes four periods:

• Before 1900, the golden age of whisky cocktails• 1900 -1920: the era of “American Bars” around the world• 1920 -1940: when the end of Prohibition liberated creativity• 1940 -1960: the appearance of tequila and vodka

Le Fumoir

Le Fumoir’s large sliding door is a unique object created by Saint-Gobain Glass. It features a drawing by New York artist Amanda Weil caught between the two glass plates. The door was assembled in the southwest of France.

A bar with sophisticated urban style, The Bar and Cigar Lounge seduces with its original cocktails and selection of cigars from around the world. It is recognized for its prestigious selection of flavored rums, its creative cocktails, hot and fla-ming drinks and for its outstanding selection of spirits, including rare whiskeys and cognacs.

An original idea of Tony Chi, the decor is in dark wood and leather. Sofas and comfortable armchairs invite you to relax, while the soft lighting and fireplace work together to warm the atmosphere in winter.

Monday from 8:00-1:00Tuesday-Friday from 8:00-midnight.Saturday from 8:30 to midnight.Sunday from 8:30 to 1:00.

Tuesday-Saturday from 18:00 to 2:00. The cigar lounge is accessible Sunday and Monday, noon to midnight, and Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 2:00.

Le Poolside

From May to September, the blue water of the swimming pool set in a lush garden - so unexpected in the hills above the city - invite relaxation. Pushing open the white gate, we discover a secret oasis over which floats a subtle and delicate perfume: the scent of sunny days. Under the parasols, comfortable chaise-lounges greet the lovers of farniente. And when lunchtime arrives, the restaurant is but a few steps away on the adjoining terrace.

The poolside restaurant welcomes guests in a chic and relaxed atmosphere for lunch by the water. The furniture’s wood and white evoke the décor of a yacht while the sleek dressing of the tables is perfect for the simplicity and sharing of a friendly meal.

Come evening, under the last rays of the sun, the poolside lights bring a dif-ferent atmosphere. The lounge comes alive with the bartenders’ expert ges-tures revealing a cocktail menu full of surprises. To end the day on a tasty note, the lounge also offers the possibility of a light dinner with an assortment of finger food and Oriental delicacies.

Georges-Henry HOEBANX

Georges-Henry Hoebanx learned his trade in Paris and Brussels and in the great houses of Savoie and Haute Savoie. He participated in the opening of several five-star hotels, including the wonderful Kaila in Méribel and the Chalet Zannier in Megeve.

In love with the area and its secrets, Georges-Henry now puts his expertise and substantial address book to the service of our guests.

On top of trends and new developments, he willingly shares his advice and pays special attention to every detail.

Georges-Henry’s team is ready to meet every desire, from the simplest to most unusual...

Guillaume BOURDILLON, Executif Chef

Upon graduation from the hotel-school lycée in Macon at 17, Guillaume Bour-dillon found his first experience in managing major events at the InterCon-tinental Frankfurt in Germany. There he learned to master the volumes and quality expected of a five-star establishment.

InterContinental then gave him the opportunity to go to London where he discovered the world of starred restaurants working for the hotel’s gourmet restaurant. Then followed several challenges between France and Switzerland with the opening of the Hotel du Midi in Delémont.

Guillaume also worked under Chef Delacourt, recognized as a Best Craftsman of France (Meilleur Ouvrier de France, MOF), at the Domaine de Divonne before coming to the InterContinental Geneva in 1996. Here, he has climbed the ladder from Banquet Chef, to Deputy Head, before finally being appointed Executive Chef, a position he has now held for three years.

Guillaume’s philosophy? Above all, to work with fresh products, local and sea-sonal. It is not uncommon to find on his menu influences from fine Lebanese and Indian cuisine...

Steeve ROCHAMBEAU, Pastry Chef

Born in 1985, Steeve Rochambeau chose to do his career in pastry after obtai-ning his Certificate of Professional in Patissserie, Chocolaterie, Glacerie and Confiserie at the Chambre des Métiers of Paris.

At 20 years old, he was hired as Commis in one of the restaurants of the famous Trianon Palace in Versailles, France. He is a fast learner and one year later he is appointed as Chef de partie. During that time, he contributes to the opening of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in the hotel, which directly obtained two stars at the Michelin guide, an unprecedented luxury!

Creative and involved, Steeve got the opportunity to work on the creation of new menus of the famous Scottish Chef’s prestigious restaurants. At the age of 25, and rising to the top rapidly, his mentor Eddie Benghanem, Pastry Chef at the Trianon Palace, gave him the sous-chef position. At the same time, he attended the “Restaurant Desserts” course within the prestigious Lenôtre School in Paris.

In 2013, looking for a new challenge, he joined the InterContinental Genève pastry team led by Julien Maslanka. Three years later, and thanks to his talent Steeve Rochambeau became the Pastry Chef at the InterContinental Genève.

Today, he declines a selection of desserts based on seasonal products for the great pleasure of our clients.

The first public-private partnership between the InterContinental Geneva and UNAIDS was born in 2013 around a campaign created so that children may be born without the AIDS virus.

In essence, this collaboration turns on two ideas: that a generation without AIDS is possible and that we can all change history. One objective of the project is to ensure that mothers have access to first aid medication and that children carrying the virus have a healthy lifestyle.

Now, all InterContinental guests can change history.

• By making a commitment to an AIDS-free generation: Every donation makes a difference, no-matter the amount. Knowing that people are sensitive to our cause means a lot to us and we are particularly grateful to the donors.

There are different ways to engage with the association, including single or regular donations.

• Customers can include a donation on their hotel bill at checkout.

• It is also possible to make a bank transfer by visiting the website: https: //donations.unaids.
