1. Pursuant to RA 7079 otherwise known as Campus Journalism Act of 1991 which mandates the Department of Education to provide training/ programs/seminars and conferences to pupil editors/writers and school paper advisers, this district shall conduct the 2014 District Schools Press Conference for both the public and private sectors, elementary and secondary levels on September 11 12 September 2014 at Banaybanay Elementary School.

2. The press conference aims to generally refresh and prepare the school paper advisers and editorial staff the rudiments of contest participation in both division, and regional competitions.

3. The 2014 District Schools Press Conference is open to all public and private schools within the district, elementary and secondary levels to enable them to participate in the divisional press conferences.

4. Specifically, the 2014 District Schools Press Conference aims to achieve the following:

a. Provide pupil writers/school staffers an advanced training in newsletter writing and prepare them for future conferences,

b. Further hone the journalistic skills of the editorial staff coming from the different schools in the district both public and private,

c. Select participants who will participate, join and compete in the 2014 Division Schools Press Conference, and

d. Build self confidence and enhance the spirit of fair competition, sportsmanship and factual reporting.

5. Participants are the newsletter editorial staff and school paper advisers in both the English and Filipino categories. The pupil writers will be competing in the individual writing contests in the following categories; News writing, Sports Writing, Editorial writing, Editorial Cartooning, Photojournalism, Feature Writing, Copy Reading and Headline Writing, Science Feature News, and Radio Broadcasting. A participant is allowed to compete only in one category.

6. Ten 10 winners will be chosen and announced in each category. Only the 10 winners will compete in the 2014 Divisional Press Conference which will be held on October 08-10, 2014.7. Expenses of participants coming from the public schools shall be charged against local funds and /or campus journalism fund subject to its availability following the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations. On the other hand, participant coming from the private schools shall be charged a Registration Fee of Php 100.00 chargeable against school paper funds to be used to cover training materials, certificates and other incidental expenses.

8. All school paper advisers (SPA), pupils/student writer from both public and private schools, elementary and secondary levels are enjoined to participate in this district press conference the number of which depends on the schools capacity to allocate.

9. Each pupil/student participant should bring the following : School ID, parents permit, and medical certificate. List of complete school delegation must be certified by the school principal and arranged by category.

10. Other items to bring during the press conference include:

Digital Camera ( 16 not more than 17 mega fixel ) memory cards should not be pre-loaded) manila paper, pentel pen, sign pen, short bond papers and pencils

11. Certificate of Participation/ Recognition will be given to those who will complete the required number of training hours.12. Attached herewith are the Committees and Training staff

13. Your usual cooperation and concern are enjoined. Widest dissemination of

this memorandum is desired.

2014 District Schools Press ConferenceI. Requirements for RegistrationParticipants will register with the Registration Committee. Medical Certificate, School ID, parents permit and certification from the principal should be presented to the committee. Noncompliance of the registration requirements make the participant ineligible for admission.

II. Materials to bring Newspapers (tabloid/journal), digital camera, memory card, unused batteries, scissors, paste, bond paper, manila paper, sign pen, pencils, notebooks.
