Thursday June 26, 2014 Wells Fargo Headquarters, Midtown Foreclosure Resisters will confess the seven deadly sins of Ocwen Loan Servicing, calling upon regulators and government officials to serve Ocwen its just rewards. The action will take place outside of Wells Fargo Headquarters—shaming Wells Fargo for attempting to dump its mortgages and “valued customers” into Ocwen’s clutches. Ocwen—the nation’s fourth largest mortgage servicer—grew to its disgusting size by devouring the nation’s most predatory loan servicers. Ocwen is what it ate. The federal CFPB, the Multi-State Mortgage Committee of state financial regulators, 49 States Attorneys General, and the Federal Trade Commission found that Ocwen charges homeowners unauthorized fees, gives false information about foreclosure sales, and improperly denies homeowners loan modifications. The consequences for such crimes and deceptive acts? Ocwen must pay a few thousand dollars to those wrongfully evicted from their homes and promise to be good, i.e. follow the law.
